  1. @matty, What structure were you fishing? Open water, near islands?
  2. i went to buckhorn lake the past 2 weekend to do some early fall bass fishing. I ended up getting only 3 bass biggest was roughly a 2 lb smallmouth. What am I doing wrong. I've fished shallow in weeds that were still living. I used spinnerbaits, sencos and jerkbaits. I also focused on deeper weed lines, rock points and deeper structure drifting tubes, flipping craws and casting multiple kinds of cranks and jerkbaits. Am I missing something on how to find and hook into these fall bass. Share some tips. On the side note I did manage to pull in 4 nice walleye.
  3. Where do they carry those duo lures?

  7. Thanks guys! Hoping to get into a few bigger ones this fall. It's my first season musky fishing so still tons to learn. Any tips for targeting them in fall? Structure? Baits? Speed? Water temps? I mostly fish the kawarthas for skis

  11. The road wasn't bad at all, pretty smooth sailing the whole way through. nope only saw some small guys!
  12. during the first week of july my dad, brother and myself took a 10 hour drive north to a fishing lodge. we do one every season and this year we chose richies end of the trail lodge. it was a great experience. the host and guides mentioned to us that the walleye fishing wasn't going to be as spectacular as it always is because the may fly hatch came late this year...and boy it came big. some morning the surface of the water was covered in dead may flies. so we knew the walleye were already getting easy meals. the first day of fishing was really tough...we didn't manage as many walleye as we had nearly hoped. so the next day we set out with different tactics. we slowed down all our presentations and fished all kinds off different structure. and it payed off. it turned out to be an awesome week of fishing once we found what the fish would respond to and where these buggers were hiding out. most of our fish came from slight humps or drops in 8-12 fow and we found some on deeper rock piles off of points or between islands. up bright and early...can barley see through the fog some walleye whats a northern Ontario fishing trip without a shore lunch! delicious fresh walleye! went to a near by smallmouth lake and smashed them on tubes and poppers some scenery pictures I would definatly go back to fish this lake next time I have a chance. the walleye fishing was outstanding once you were able to locate them. I would love to go there when they are actually "on fire" and feeding more actively! mike
  13. hey guys! managed to get out this Saturday with a buddy to do some salmon fishing. woke up at 5am and were all geared up and walking the river for 7. after some trecking through the forrest and wading the river we found some pools that were holding big salmon but none wanted to bite other than these little rainbows. it was around 10am so we weren't ready to give up anytime soon. keep walking and casting away. we found a beautiful pool that held numbers are huge salmon. the area was tough to fight the fish due to all of the fallen trees, nearby shallow water and tons of rocks. in a few hours we hooked up with around 15 salmon ranging from 8-20+ lbs by float fishing roe. unfortunately most of them would end up running down river and we would get cut off by rocks or branches. we managed to get 3-4 in and it was still a blast. cant wait to get out again. me with a nice male salmon my buddy with a good female my question is are these both king salmon? im just getting into salmon fishing and don't know how to distinguish them yet. I also have a nice walleye report coming up from last month! ill get on to posting that soon haha mike
  14. hey guys. haven't really been to active on the forums but I scraped together some pictures and thought id share. here is some action me and my brother had for the first 2-3 weeks of musky opener. we tried to get out atleast 1-2 times a week to do some musky fishing together. after working the lakes quite a bit we have found some spots that we now consider our go to spots on the lakes. they usually produce for us with decent size musky. these musky were caught on upper buckhorn. the main lure that produced was a black and orange cowgirl and a pearson griner. casting them into deeper weedlines seemed to do the trick. our PB this season was my 43 incher off upper BH. my brother with his first of the season show me them teeth!!!! here are a couple from scugog. targeting the same areas and structures and using the same presentations as on BH we landed a few and lost some aswell. after these trips we haven't done much musky fishing but we went last weekend and had a few on buckhorn...trying different tactics in 25 fow vertically jigging a bondy bait we managed to raise a few..but none wanted to commit. mike
  15. awesome pictures man! great work and looks like a fun outing

  17. I used to go there all the time with my dad when I was younger. you would always go there and catch a rainbow or 2. that was a while ago though. not sure how the fishing is now but hey give it a try..let us know how you do. im curious

  20. I've been doing some reaserch and haven't found much...is there any areas in Toronto near lakeshore I can fish? I'm mainly looking for pike or bass but would like to fish carp aswell since the fight is awesome. I will be fishing on-shore. It's on my way home from work so might as well let the traffic pass and wet a line!

  23. hey guys, spent the day on buckhorn late with the old man and my younger brother. conditions were good, overcast with a slight chop on the water. me and my brother started out by chucking some musky lures. I was usuing a black and orange grinder spinnerbait and he was throwing a top raider in the same colour scheme. we were fishing deeper weeds in 10 fow off a point of an island and within no time were had 2 fish in the boad, 2 bad they were both two 3lb largemouth. it gave us more hope as we moved to our next location. our next spot consisted of a weedline in 14 fow that carries into a bay, still chucking the grinder spinner bait out I hit a nice musky an hour into the morning. my brother quickly grabbed the met and we landed the first ski of the day. not a bad start. we continued to fish the area and got another strike but missed it. we decided we would go do some bass fishing on some thicker lilly mats with some blue and black chigger craws and a live target and spro frogs. we caught a bunch of largies ranging from 1-3lbs. not the biggest of the day but heres a pic of the old man with a decent LM we continued our search for more musky and went to one of our locations that has always produced musky. I continued to use the black and orange grider and the hard work paid off. I hooked into a beauty 43 incher. what a great fight she put up, after a couple minutes she was in the boat, couple pictures and released. after that musky we didn't have anymore follows or strikes, we tried other baits including double 10 cowgirls, and various crankbaits and jerkbaits. we decided to go in search of some bass. by the end we caught a few more largies but we ended up hooking into 2 nice sized walleye. 1 I got on a spinnerbait, and my dad got another on a cheap $2 that he wanted to try and caught the eye on the 1st cast. all in all it was a good day on the water it wasn't my brothers day for musky, mut he did a great job netting mine
  24. Bandito what depths and structure would you be fishing those swim baits for big gators?
