  1. Naw ... Can't do it decided to keep the 14' instead of upgrading to 16' or 18' and buying a Camper Trailer instead ... will be more useful for the family and I and is not motorized ... I will cost a little more to tow it camping but will be REALLY REALLY good on gas while parked. :clapping:

The upgrade would've meant more $$$ spent for gas....

Here is the model I'm looking at Jayco model Baja.... New it costs 12000.00$

I can get one that's 2 yrs old for 7550.00$ Off roadable tent trailer... lightweight will be good for

towing ... I will be doing it train style.

  2. Hey, what's the water flow and level like at the Legion ? Have the silvers moved up yet ?

I'll be in town this weekend. Hate to go up on long weekends though. Hope the weather is crap, then you only have to contend with the few die-hards.

    Later,

    Mike

Water level is receding ... Silver isn't here yet

    Sent you a P.M

  3. If it's a LUBRICO extended warranty you're paying $$$ for nothing stay away.. if it's factory warranty it's ok... but if you ask me your still paying for nothing.

the odds of you needing a warranty claim that exceeds 1000.00$ is 5 % this consists of a tranny cylinder head or intake or differential... 33.000kms you wont need any big repairs 'til at least 120.000 kms.. and even then it won't be a big repair.

Being in the business for the past 12 years i've hardly ever seen anyone use the extended warranty

...read the finer print not everything is covered with this warranty.. according to Lubrico... a differential isn't part of the drivetrain.

Can't really go wrong with the Escape or Tribute.

A/C problems is pretty much all i can see for the inherent problems of this domestic import..

3.0l v6 is hard on gas when pushed.

    You picked a good product.

    Randy

  4. I'll tell ya that the Sturgeon River dam is running full rip ! { Sturgeon River is the largest and main tributary to Nipissing} No signs of letting up ..they have a week to shut them down or minimize

the flow.. if they can't the Opening day will be ruined next weekend for the river fishermen and 1k

from the mouth... all though these conditions usually bring a spectacular Pike opportunity in Cache Bay.... The water is very stained right now... kinda like a double double but is slowly clearing.

I'm keeping a close eye on it ... 'cause I'll be one of those fishermen next weekend!

If i see that the water hasn't cleared up or the water flow hasn't diminished I'll opt for a little lake north of here.

    :Gonefishing: :Gonefishing: :Gonefishing:

    Randy from Sturgeon.

  5. Vandalism? who'd vandalize a boat? :wallbash: Certainly not a fisherman..

    Port-a- garage at CTC? ...

My neighbor in B.C had the same problem....he built a framed with 2x2 folding corrugated fiberglass shelter kinda thing...ended up looking like a fence weighed nothing and was totally

foldable , he picked colors that weren't gauky and matched the neighbors fence and matched his shed and house... Vandals couldn't see it......outta sight ...outta mind..

    Good Luck.....

Clamp-It's dog looks like it could work for 'ya too!! :clapping: :clapping:

  6. I was having my morning coffee down at the town docks... my daughter noticed a Beaver , I always have a camera with me....

I made the pics smaller to fit here but at the most was 4 feet away from the beast..

The second the FLASH went off he/she slapped it's tail on the ground and *barked* like a dog and then growled at me... so i then turned off my flash and took a few more..as I took a few steps back.

  7. I got trim tabs on my Tracker SGV14T....i went from a 20 Merc to a 30 'Rude.

couldn't stop porpoising i added weight to the front an found it too low in the water at slow speed...

i was clocking 28.5mph on GPS.... I added Trim-Rite trim tabs[ I assume this is what your talking about]... I removed the 2 bricks from the front...stopped porpoising and turns a whole lot better increased my speed to 31.5 on GPS... It rides higher out of the water I like 'em. It worked for me .

can't say anything for gas consumption...higher out of water = less drag = less power spent for locomotion = better fuel economy????? kinda makes sense to me..

  8. uneven wear on a trailer signifies a bent spindle or a faulty wheel bearings in your hub.... I've never seen a single trailer tire wear on the outside 100% on the inside..... if you axles were mounted on an angle[out of horizontal alignment] it would wear one on the inside and one on the outside.

you may check this " kinda sorta " with a level while parked on level ground...

I've seen pothole bent spindles more than once....

start off by checking the bearings...

    Good Luck !!

    Randy...

  9. I decided to buy a new stereo for the boat... KOSS C/D player receiver [ It will mostly play my satellite radio] 64.62$... @ CTC.. perfect color matches the boat..

I then bought a weatherproofing flap for the front of my player for 34.60$, it matches the boat too

I then bought a rubber mat to weather-proof it from the back from seepage ..7.43$

    I bought 4x 4 1/2" Powerbass 65w weatherproof speakers for 42.41$ per set.=84.82$

I've bought 3/8" loom, clips, shrink tube ,liquid electrical tape, dielectric grease, barrel & butt connectors[for quick removal], electrical tape, silicone for the vibration and a new retractable antennae, bi-metal jigsaw blades, in line fuses; invoice # 93051263 = 52.76$

Here's where it gets nasty... I tried to borrow and rent one... 4 1/2" bi-metal hole saw ..32.45$

1/2'' shank pilot hole attachment 13.66$...

    ALL PRICES ARE WITH TAX

Grand total for the install is ... drum roll....329.40$$$ :wallbash: :wallbash: :wallbash:

I didn't install it yet ..upcoming weekend project...

I think I've got all I need... at least I hope so.

    Pre-tested and will sound great....

I'll post pics of the install.

All this 'cause there was a C/D player on sale at crappy tire.

  10. Hyundai Santa-Fe......

If you are considering a small S.U.V ..I don't wanna bash the Hyundai they've come a long ways

in 20 years fastest growing car company ever..they now make good cars.

But... keep in mind i sell parts for a living I see it first hand... if it's gonna break it'll cost 15-25% more than it would to fix your ..Explorer or your Jimmy...[these are mid sized]..

if ya wanna go for a compact SUV...there are no cheap ones to repair...

The Ford Escape/Mazda Tribute..Tracker/Vitara..break less than the Honda CRV & Santa Fe.. and are cheaper to repair....

I'm a Ford guy but this time I'll root for the Suzuki Grand Vitara..it's been on the road for years and has a bulletproof drivetrain...the rest is wear & tear like a domestic roughly the same price.

A domestic import [ Jeep/Mitsubshi...Ford/Mazda...Chevrolet/Suzuki] are getting cheaper to repair.

If ya wanna use the Hyundai as a toy as well to kinda go off road or for towing... it's as capable as any of it's competition.

Alot of Hyundai parts are exclusive to Hyundai.. and are very expensive at the dealer..

My brother -In-Law had one ...great in the snow, great on gas , expensive to fix and was broken regularly.

Seldom was I able to reach behind the counter and get him what he needed.

As for a Minivan well I'll always be too young for one.

Here's mine ...pretty cheap to fix ..all the power I need..... the worst truck on the road for gas mileage....OHHH WHAT A PIG!!!

    good luck shopping...

  11. Speedy Sharp!! learn how to use it.. and it works wonders I sell it for 11.99 $ & CTC has it on sale for 15.99 i think..

Anyway I have an arsenal of fillet knives and most times end up reaching for my Rapala 6" that I bought at CTC 15 years ago for 14.99$ the next one I'll reach for id my Fiskars 7" kinda soft and can follow any bone-line..

NEVER run you fillet knife through your WILTSHIRE STAYSHARP sharpener :wallbash: :wallbash: ... you've just ruined it!

by doing this you've changed your angle of attack and WILL run into problems following the bone-line and skinning...this is where you can learn to use the SPEEDY SHARP !

Any fillet knife is a good one if you ask me.... you just need to get used to it.

But out of the box...can't go wrong with the classic wooden handled Rapala.

    Don't cut yourself... Goodluck !

    Randy

  12. Randy, I was fishing that particular spot last spring (long May weekend I believe) and they were there by the thousands as usual (suprized I didn't see you there) I guess you can fish there before June 1st because of the area being north of the CPR bridge.

The only major problem I encountered was the rudeness of the non-local fishermen (you know what I mean). Once they left town on Monday, it was like the good old days again.

I will be up there again this long weekend. Maybe see you there.

    nuke

YOU BET>>> We can jump in my boat..

  13. My expedition does 9 city 16 hwy fully loaded..

My 1976 f-150 4x4 4spd does 8mpg..period.... does 8 mpg while towing a bulldozer... doesn't matter. That about as compact as I'll ever get.

I'm glad I don't have to commute everyday.

My wife has a 2006 Ford Focus that does 32 -35 mpg average.

  14. EH!

Rear rotors should cost you 35$$ a piece or so.... when you buy them you will be asked

if you have 12mm or 14mm studs.... rear pads should run about 30-40 $$ /set.

I your rear e-brakes are shot take them apart and put 'em in a box.... if your truck is standard fix them.

I sell this brake job everyday...

If you need rear calipers expect to pay 60-75 $ each exchange.

not a very big job you can do this yourself.

    Good stopping.

  15. Sturgeon River ..anytime after June 1st and before the 21st is a safe bet ...use live bait or a soft body ...spinner.... Twister....prepare to catch 100's per day averaging around 2.5lbs.

    Not bad eating.

I believe that the world record White Bass still comes the Sturgeon River...not 100% sure if it still does but I know it used to.
