  1. I just put line on one of them ....and am now bouncing the remote for my stereo from it.. :thumbsup_anim:

My wife thinks I'm nuts .. :stretcher:

    Looks tougher than I thought...

I have one problem so far .... the first thing I noticed is that the guides are very very small and will probably ice up pretty quick while out there in the winter. :wallbash:

I'll try 'em out tomorrow or Sunday.

  2. So I met this guy called Mike.....he happens to be the President and CEO of this company called Penfishingrods.com....

He said he'd send me some of his rods for free and pay me a small amount to produce a winter ice fishing video...to be posted on YouTube....

Guess what? they came in the mail today..

I was a little leery, when I first opened the package...but I then stretched them out ..

and shook the hell out of them..

    They are very well built..

I'm going out tomorrow and will try them.

I'll have to post three pics in a row..

  3. We have a population here in West Nipissing...in fact less than 2 miles from my place ,,

A local farmer on Stewart Rd ...has pics...and Laurentian University professors are here regularly

they set up cameras and such in trees....so far there are 4 confirmed individual cats.

The local cops are also aware of them..

My family and I have personally seen one on Clear Lk Rd this past labor day weekend.

No doubt in my mind that they're here in Ontario.

  4. I did the same thing to mine....here's what you do.... tie wrap the cable to the foot of your TM where the shaft meets the motor....do the same on the top ...go over the powerdrive I've had mine this way now for 4 yrs and have had no problems...leave slack in the cord so that you don't collide with the powerdrive....or you can do it the right way and take the TM apart and drill a few holes one at the top of the tube and one at the bottom of the tube and cut, run and splice the transducer cord through the tube...seal up the holes with silicone...make for a headache... we did this to my friends TM... works fine... the only this that is different is that it looks better.

    hope this helps...

  5. I'm usually a solitary fisherman...I'll go out with the kids but most times I'm alone in the boat.

BUt two weekends ago I was alone IN the creek.. :(

I went out for Specs. I tried to leap over a narrow spot in the creek to get to a pool I've never fished....The creek was wider than I thought...I ended up on my :asshat: in the creek with water over my head and legs stuck in the mud....I managed to grab onto some CATTAILS..and little branches on shore and pulled my head out of the water for a breather.... after about a minute

{felt like a lifetime}..of doing this I started to move my legs around.. I felt a rock or a log under my left heel and gave it all I had ..... I MADE IT OUT! :worthy:

I went back the next day with my wife and kids to get my fishing rod from the bottom of 'Ol Smokey Creek ...I used a stick.

I fell In last fall 54% degree water ...I tripped over my net and in I went off the bow...I was wearing my Ski-Doo suit boots and all... the current brought me right by the transom where I grabbed on and pulled my frozen self into the boat. NO PFD

Needless to say I always wear a PFD now when I'm with my kids or alone.

As for fishing creeks with a PFD forget it....I'll take my chances...again.

  6. Muriatic Acid.....mixed 40% acid 60% water.. soap and water afterwards.

Can't keep it on the shelf.....most marinas are snapping it up. 'Tis the season.

If ya wanna go "GREEN" Captain Phab...Hull Cleaner works pretty good ..

I've used soapy water and a scrub brush...and have got the same results but I used alot of elbow grease.

  7. Varsol shouldn't damage anything.....if you're worried try it on a " sight unseen" spot like under the seat...or on the foot of the motor.......wash it off with soap and water right after ..

I've used Varsol and Thinner...to wash off tar and sap.... and yellow paint from the highway off the finish of my vehicles...no damage yet...... just don't let it soak.

    Good Luck!

  11. Nice looking fish Dan.

I wasn't able to make it to Sturgeon falls/nippissing this year for the first time in about a dozen or so years. The guys I usually went with were too tied up with work this year. Hopefully next year we'll be able to put our annual trip together again. I sure miss your part of the country at this time of the year !
