Ya to be honest, your post got me looking at changing my technique up. nice job by the way looks like you had a great day. I know the fish are there I can see them on the camera. But I have never lived so close to a lake where I could really spend the time trying new things, now I can so I am learning so much. I have spent the last 7 years getting good at down rigging, before that was river fishing, but now I like a kid in a candy store. I have got such a rush trying new things, but if I can get a technique down that does not requir bait that would be awesome. Ya I will fish quinte once or twice a year, but for that drive I rarely try somthing new and stick to the lure and minnow. I am assuming no minnow, and are you hitting bottom. Do you raise the pimple up off bottom when the eye gets into the sonar, or just keep the jigging pattern the same. I run with a camera and a lorance x67c. So I have been watching their reaction but the bite has slowes the last two weekends so I want to try somthing new, I thinks this is somthing that I have not tried. Thanks very much for the tip. My buddy just hammered them on sunday on quinte this weekend past. What an excellent fishery. Does the pimple's colour flap on the eye matter red or yellow????

I am trying to compress or shrink my photo.s so that I can post an image in this forum. Also I wan't to place a classified ad. My j.peg are around 2.2mb to arour 6.6mb. I try to post them but they are too big. Does any one have any suggestions

I have read alot about different lures and tactics for trout and other species on this forum. What I am looking for is a jigging spoon that works for walleye through the ice. I would love to try somthing that doesn;t require minnows. I generally use buck shot, rapala/s jigs prop jigs and the occasional dew worm rig. These are all good teckniques, but want to try somthing new that has been tries and tested. I have tried some white fish lures and jigging body baits, with little success. I know that it is not only the lure but the jigging technique as well, so If you know of a good spoon please include the technique as well. I will share my proven techniques. thanks.

Just got morning sex. During it I was honestly planning on what part of the lake I wanted to fish for the derby. I am glad to hear I am not alone out here. Funny thread thanks for the laugh.

Hey it sound like you have some pretty amazing shoe's to fill. You may miss him but from what it sound like to me is he will always be with you and every decision you make from now on. Your very lucky to have had such and amazing figure, keep your chin up and know that only the good die young.

What I have done and what works for me is I set an amount I want to spend per year. My limit is around 2000. So saying that I spent 20,000 on a 2011 jeep liberty. So my bottom line is drive it for 10 years and throw it away or drive it for 5 and hope to sell it for 10, 000 in five. So I look at the trader to simular vehicles and simular years to see if this theory work. Some vehicles it does like pick up and jeeps and pretty much anthing 4 wheel drive. I had my dodge caravan for 8ears and paid 8 grand. so 1000 a year, I had a 4x4 pick up paid 14,000 drove it for 5 years sold it for 8000. just over 1000 dollars a year. Now look at how much you will be annually spending on simular type of vehicle. A lease generally add up to around 4000 plus a year for a 20000 vehicle. The vehicles I buy still have waranty. There was only one vehicle where a lease was more practicle was a cheap pontiac sunfire, paid 14 for it 1 year old, sold it 3 years later for 4300. To a family member so they got a bit of a deal. But crappy cars that have no resale value that are for short term use like the sunfire was, would have been cheaper to lease for us, hind sight is always 20 20. Hope this helped.

Unbelievable it worked, I pre chewed my bait and son of a gun the walleye were taking it. Actually I just used dew worms on a jig and slowed it down and got mid day deep eye's to bite. Funny though I did check out their mouths. Surprisingly no cavities.

Not sure weither you had just on of those two in mind, but my wife and I fished esnagami lodge out of nakina, great food good living accomadationm great hosts eric lund and cant remember his wifes name edna or somthing there young with kids there. But we went mid to late summer, All the walleye you could handle, I would not stop the boat until we had a double header, back trolling wormharnesses. The guide said it was the slow time of the year, he said to come in the spring if I wanted hot action. If I were planning a spring trip, I would not hesitate to go back. A little expensive, but worth it IMO.

I got thinking that mabey there is somthing to this after all. What about a softening or shedding like a snake, not actually loosing thier teeth but a period when the teeth are growing, mabey those eye's have a sore mouth. It seems far fetched because their mouth are so tough. But the timing is right to have growth after a month of active feeding. That old french man sure got me thinking. Help me get to the bottom of this if anybody knows any one who could answer this. If you catch an eye check the mouth ot pretty good wiggle one of the teeth and see if it says ouch. lol.

For the most part I have been doing well for eye's this hard water season, but the last two weeks I have had eye's on camera eyeballing my minnow but not taking. It is frustrating, so I drove all across the lake to find anyone that was still in their huts fishing to find out their all having the same slow down which is normal. However one guy said that the walleye are losing their teeth. He seemed dead serious so I did not call shananigins just smile and said really. I have never heard of walleye dropping their teeth, so I wondeer if there is any truth to it. It would explain the slowdown, on every walleye lake that I have fished. I have always believed the slow down to be from a lack of oxygen because of the weeds decomposing, which happens on scugogg and low light conditions from snow pack, but not from the tooth ferry. let me know what you think

I don't know how legal this it is or not but I would not hessitate to fish with a alarm when your sleeping, you have just as good a chance deep hooking a fish asleep or awake with a tip up. give er. You definately have the right Idea as far as times as as far catching walleye is concerned. In colledge a buddy kept 3 little walleye in a 300 gal tank, with all the bait needed and structure. I made this guy a buddy because I would fish for hours and this guy would just fish an hour er so every now and again. Always when the fish were bitting. I could not figure out how he knew. Until I was playing card in his appt and he just dropped the cards and said it is time to fish When I asked why he said the fish in the tank were feeding. He charted it and there was a definate pattern not exact but like 5 to 15 minutes later every day from the previous day it was wild totally improved my time spent to number of fish ratio. Not sure weather this was legal but I learned alot about Kawartha walleye`s. Thought you would like that story. I wish I had taking to take his info and cross reference it to lunar cycles, and barametric pressuere. good luck

I had this same issue a few years money tight. my suggestion is and it is going to sound rude but. only go a third of a time, take the ones that pay and make the trip enjoyable. Take the other 2 of the third and get a job. If kids are involved, don't spend their education money in gas for the boat. Two things will happen in this. The ones that did not pay will get the message when you say no to them, you will find they will want to fish, and start paying. I found out for my situation that my bud that were not paying because I was not letting them know that they had two. Before you know it you will only be getting stiffed 1 fo 10. You will never get rid of it. The other thing is you will enjoy the fishing if your not thinking about the money. POSITIVE ACTIONS HAVE POSITIVE REACTIONS NEGATIVE ACTIONS HAVE NEGATIVE REACTIONS it is that simple.
