Man, it has been a very bizarre ice fishing season! It was our first good ice fishing season in a few years! Lots of good ice out there, if fact the first year in a while that we've seen truck out there but the latest snow that we had received has made it a mess out there> Not sure I'll get out there again this year. One interesting thing that I noticed this year, was the number of BIG JUMBO's that stayed relatively shallow <15 FOW. We did catch some great fish, lost some possible giants and hope that conditions improve to the point where we can get out again!

We used to fish for those monster goldfish in Catfish Pond as well! We've caught Carp, Mirror Carp, Bullheads, Largemouth, White Perch & Pumpkinseeds out of there! We love riding our bikes down there to fish! -

I'm actually surprised that the pike have not taken over the Pond, as they generally do! They;'ve been in there for over 35 years, over the years I've caught many interesting species in there including a Walleye and Threadfin Shad! -
The Gaspereau was cool as we've never seen them that big! Think of Lake Ontario Alwifes...

I grew up fishing Granadier Pond and know it intimately! From your property there you can do whatever you'd like! There are several people there who believe that Grenadier Pond is their private property, which it is not, I can also guess who that Karen is! That section got closed to fishing based on them complaining about anglers disturbing nesting waterfowl there but it is only on the park grounds! Tell her to please call the conservation officers! How's the Crappie fishing these days? -
Thanks Barry! It's just that my expectations are always high! LOL As for the Chain Pickerel, disappointing because it happened during a Smallmouth tournamnet but also exciting as I don't catch a lot of those! Still took time to snap a quick pic before release!

That is wild! Crazy stuff!

Food is almost as good as the fishing! Yeah, the Atlantic Salmon folks are not big fans of Smallies but they gaining in popularity, they more concerned about Largemouth & Crappies coming Maine nowadays! The Smallies were prespawn and the seasons are very interested down here. I do believe that no tournaments are allowed during the spawn for a couple of weeks but you can still fish for them.

Just got back from a trip down east to New Brunswick! Went down to Nackawic for the Destination Nackawic Smallmouth Open and had a blast on the St. John River! Huge variety of fish species in this body of water, Smallmouth, Yellow Perch, White Perch, Gaspereau, Chain Pickerel, Muskie & Pumpkinseeds were some that we saw or caught! We caught over 400 Smallmouth Bass in a day & a hold of practice & 2 tournament days! We had an okay result finishing 24th out of 77 teams! Then, it was off to the Miramichi River& the Miramichi Striper Cup! Fishing was tough because of the early spring & high water temps but we still caught lots of fish in practice! Fishing was even tougher on tournament days due to funky weather & strong winds! We managed a 27th place finish out of 237 teams! Beautiful part of our country with some amazing fishing! If anyone wants more info, please PM me!

The FMZ Catch & Release season on Lake Ontario, St. Lawrence River & Bay of Quinte from Jan. 1-May 10th is supposed to be spectacular! Unfortunately I have not ahd a chance to experience it at this time of the year as it's SHOW Season!😪
-
Oh there are so many TJ! Big Bass Mega Bass on Big Rideau is definitely one! Quinte Bass Champs on opening weekend is another! The Nosbonsing Pike, North GTA Pike on Balsam Lake, Muskoka Pike & all of the Top 50 Pike events are great pike events. Down on Lake St. Clair, there's the Mitchell's Bay Open and this year there's the NEW VEXUS Open which should be great! The Mark McKeown Memorial Perch Tournamnet on lake Simcoe is a lot of fun! I can send you a whole list TJ, don't make me choose I love them all! 😄😄😄
