bow slayer Posted May 31, 2014 Report Posted May 31, 2014 bought a new bow mount for the boat, problem old receptacle is a 3 pin round, new plug on motor is a 4 pin round. Could I just cut off the plug on motor and wire in a 3 pin in it place.or should I replace the receptacle with a 4 pin ? thanks
Lape0019 Posted May 31, 2014 Report Posted May 31, 2014 Do you still have the old TM? Either way you look at it, you will be fine. I went from a Motorguide to a minnkota and switched both pieces to new ones. I just didn't want to have any weak spots in my new setup. I literally changed everything that was associated to the TM because I was upgrading from a 12v to a 24v

musky666 Posted May 31, 2014 Report Posted May 31, 2014 I puled my old MotorGUide w/ 4 pin round and replaced entire system with new, set up for MInnKota Terrova. Sold old motor with all wiring and batteries and charger, new everything for me. Terrova is simply a two wire as it is 24V only ( not 12, 24v) Pretty easy and straightforward swap- new marine cables in 6 gauge from now bow plug to batteries. You can buy an aftermarket plug most places, West Marine, BassPro and wire it up...
Lape0019 Posted May 31, 2014 Report Posted May 31, 2014 Oddly enough, that is exactly what I did!!! Same motor too!
