Spring Lakers?

Recommended Posts

Howdy folks,

Got the boat in the water (It runs Great Ron!!!) and out i went. Once out I realized that I had never fished for lakers in the spring. My results showed my lack of experience, I got skunked.

I'm fishing a deep, gin clear lake (Skeleton lake). I used the same techniques I used in the summer with not even a nibble. The summer I'm able to do well enough on them.

Any tips on where the lakers go in the spring time, I didn't really mark anything on the finder either.

Any help is greatly appreciated!

Cheers,

-Graeme

try the upper 40 feet, sometimes 15 feet of the water column. ;) planer boards, long lines, and dipsey divers, will all net results. you can leave the riggers at home. the water temp is at a point where they can be anywhere in the water column.

We've been catching lots in this area with Spoons and Body Baits. Downrigging for Salmon Mostly.

Here's a link with Pictures and Specific lures.

I'm not sure where you are or how these techniques will work for you, but hopefully this will give some ideas.
