Fishing Southampton Lake Huron Area in the summer...

Renting a cottage hopefully in the Southampton area, from my old trolling books, it looks like the only place for salmon or bows is out 5 miles in 100 FoW.

 

Anyone have any tips for fishing this area? Do the same Lake O techniques work out there?

Go inland. Lakes like Chesley, Gould and Arran all have good smallmouth bass fishing. Chesley has walleye and pike as well as perch and other panfish. Arran has pike and perch as well as some good largemouth areas too.
