phiphntek Posted December 25, 2010 Report Posted December 25, 2010 Hi All, Merry Christmas. The fellas and I are hitting the 401 EARLY Mon. morn.We are heading for Big Bay.Only one of us had fished there in the past, never on the ice.Just wondering about ice thickness (sleds or walking), access, parking etc. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks
Stoty Posted December 25, 2010 Report Posted December 25, 2010 The ice around big island is very good! It was a good 5-6" last weekend so there should be much more than that now! Always be safe, and check while you head out there, though.

Stoty Posted December 26, 2010 Report Posted December 26, 2010 From what I've seen, people park on the side of the road and just walk down. It's a pretty good hike as well.
