Guest Manitoubass Posted September 3, 2010 Report Posted September 3, 2010 I remember watching the old "Fish On" T.V show.. the one that always ended with a high speed "Fly Tie" They had said that the only real way to identify a "Blue Walleye" is that it DOES NOT have the white spot on the tail...and had also said that they were extinct...which I believe is true. Even "In-Fisherman" spoke of this extinct species in a recent episode. Habitat and fungus was the culprit for mis-identification. Although, I have caught A LOT of "Blue Tinged Walleye" from Nipissing and other lakes... but have never caught a true Blue. Randy awesome post, looks like I just learned something, lol. I've obviously mistaken my blue tinged walleye for an actual blue walleye. Thanks for the lesson
Muskieman Posted September 3, 2010 Report Posted September 3, 2010 (edited) Spotless enough for you? Sorry Dude.... I can see it... even the anal fin. http://bluewalleyes.wikidot.com/what-is-a-blue-pike Randy Edited September 3, 2010 by Randy from Sturgeon
Muskieman Posted September 3, 2010 Report Posted September 3, 2010 Check out the anal fin in the pic You posted and read the link I attached.. I've ran to the library more than once when I was a kid after catching a "Blue" to see if it really was...never was though. I don't wanna rain on any ones parade... I'm as eager as the next to claim a "Blue 'Eye"... but none I've seen are meeting criteria. I'm just plain sorry for posting what I(and others I'm sure)believe is true. Randy
Muskieman Posted September 3, 2010 Report Posted September 3, 2010 Congrats! Give your mom a call. ????????????? What is that for, Eh! ????????? It's right there in your picture... I'm not looking to butt heads with anyone... I can see clear as day that there's white on the fins..that's how I based my comments. Randy
Billy Bob Posted September 3, 2010 Report Posted September 3, 2010 As I have spoken (posted) before hand about the so called blue walleye which I have caught on the famous French River.....it's NOT the same fish my father caught many times in LAKE ERIE.......do the research and you will find many facts that you din't know about this sub-species. I only wish what some believe are true and so do many others.
dews Posted September 4, 2010 Report Posted September 4, 2010 I too catch a few every year on the same stretch of the french .... got one two weeks ago . All have white tipped tails , although a very pretty fish not the true blues.
