Is it possible to trout at river mouths at this time of

Absolutely, it can be very productive. The estuary waters are much slower than higher in the system, so when the cold comes, fish will look for slower pools/parts of the river to spend time in. The main concern right now is whether or not they are frozen over.

North West is the best if you dress right on a decent 15-25km day I think you may do ok
