i've never had this happen and don't know what to make of it . great lookin' day ,,sun's just about to rise , winds calm on a very cool november mornin'. just launched the boat ,squeeze the ball on the gas line ,,soft . check the line ,, check the fittings, clamps ,,,squeeze ,, ball 's still soft. a 2yr old tank and line shouldn't be defective i thought, what the heck??

pulled and pulled that thing over ,, not even a burp . check the spark plug to see if it's dry. it's dry. it's been about 20 minutes.

frustrated , i picked up the gas tank point the handle of the tank down and lean the larger part up high against the side of the boat.

4 or 5 squeezes of the ball and it's now firm!! spent the rest of the day making sure the handle of the tank was much lower than the larger part ,, if not the merc quits . what's wrong with this tank???

Pick up tube has fallen off... or if a flop tube is stuck against the side somewhere.

As for squeeze bulb not working.. my brand new one for my kicker had a defective check valve and never worked properly. Had to replace it this spring.

Looks like mine is one piece and the top where the hose hooks onto snaps into the tank. From there it's a clear tube straight down with screen on bottom. Tank appears to need about 1.5" of fuel to cover screen.

If yours is the same then the tube is cracked.. broken off or similar. Unscrew your cap and have a look with a flash light.
