MCTFisher9120 Posted June 28, 2008 Report Posted June 28, 2008 Can a lot of rain damage your reel, or are they generally pretty good. Just a side question. I have caught many fish after a downpour but never really during.

I have caught many fish after a downpour but never really during. Not damage it, but if too much water gets into it, you may have to oil and lube it again. When I was in Nipissing, it rained for 2 days straight and I noticed the reel wasn't as smooth as usual. Probably washed out the grease.Nothing that a proper lube job wont cure.
