ntgrk Posted October 15, 2007 Report Posted October 15, 2007 A friend and I planning to rent a boat on Thursday . I was just wondering what would be better this time of year Rice Lake or Lake Simcoe Heading out from Keswick , we ussually like to fish for pike or bass we have not done much Fall fishing and don't have alot of expieriece on a boat .where would the water be calmer this time of year ?and kind of baits and lures would work best ? Thanks
steverowbotham Posted October 15, 2007 Report Posted October 15, 2007 both lakes can get pretty rough this time of year, Simcoe has bigger smallies, but you'll probably catch more at Rice. Tubes and jerkbaits are the baits of choice, unless you want to fish deep.... 40+ feet. A jigging spoon is a good option.
misfish Posted October 15, 2007 Report Posted October 15, 2007 What kind of jigging spoon Steve Thanks What Steve said is right on,bigger fish but bigger water and if you dont know the lake I would stick with a smaller body of water. Good luck play safe.
