  1. A buddy & I had the same problem Rocky's replaced both Richard
  2. My daughters father inlaw & I went 2 years ago, I drove 2 1/2 hours met him there we took the ferry, he rented a canoe for us but I guess a Thunder storm rolled threw in the morning and the rental place was closed when we got there, walked the canals and south shore of the Island, 1 pike on top water in the canal by the rental place. I will either rent a canoe or take my 14 footer next time more access to the water. Later in the year I took my boat from Ashbridges Bay calm day, no harbour licence, entered from the east side of the island dropped the trolling motor and fished the island shore, caught a few but nothing big, was never bothered by any one Richard
  3. This will be my 3rd or 4th year using it, I've had no problems, bas to 6lbs on it Richard
  4. Expedition C also been happy with it like the bigger screen also, Richard
  5. Missed it last year but fished it for about 15 years before that, a buddy caught 2nd biggest a few years ago, I was using bigger spinnerbaits and jerkbaits and he was using smaller spinners, spoons and crankbaits we were both catching fish, just not big ones, then he started using a #1 spinner and caught a 36+" pike, as far as the idiots go keep a big dardevle on and keep boats or in my case jet skis, 3 of them, figured out real quick I wasn't going to give in to them, we have caught them every where, above the bridge and below, I have helped at the ramp often to help things move smoothly while I wait my turn Richard PS: Working again this year or I'd be going again this year
  6. Hey Dave that was a great show lots of Trout And Walleye, double & triple headers Richard
  7. Get a suction cup and clamp and put it on the back of the boat, haven;t used one but have saw them Richard
  8. They also have pontoon boats for rent for the day, we fished it last year with our boat and talked to the owner about renting the pontoon boats for our 4-H fishing club, nice people, about 6 campers were there all friendly Richard Cedar Park Camp Ground‎ - 10 Little Lake Drive, Barrie, ON L4M 7C1, Canada‎ - (705) 721-4691‎
  9. I keep the odd pike or walleye from cold water for an older lady I know, she will start asking me after the season opens about a fish or 2, Musky need to be released as far as I'm concerned unless they are bleeding bad, I would rather get a replica made then a stuffed mount, my father had a bass and a walleye done in the early 70's and after a couple year didn't look very good, replicas look good forever Richard My 2 cents
  10. Enforcement, Conservation, Stocking yes we need more enforcement but the best eyes and ears out there are ours, record what you see and report it, conservation and habitat inprovemants are very important, but stocking put and take fish like rainbow or specle trout in the stream and river around the rural areas like they did when we were growing up would help keep some of the kids off the streets and get them interested in fishing again, when I was 10 threw 16 yrs old I lived on the teeswater river, muskrat and alps creek every day, left fishing for a few years and came back very strong and promoting the sport threw canoe trips with kids,4-H fishing club every year and more Richard
  11. OPPS Sorry Gaspare Constible at 38th on the Boater Side too Richard

  13. Welcome To the Board The answer is no where the season is closed til the Trout opener end of April, Pike 2nd Saturday in May and Bass End of June. Richard
  14. Spinnerbaits are great for Bass & Pike and don't snag very often, you can get them for a couple bucks and the kids will have fun if they like casting, plus they don't have treble hooks on them with 3 in the boat that could be a problem, best of luck Richard
  15. When my kids were young I did a lot of canoeing, my daugher and 1st son started fishing before they were 2 on ther 2nd biryhday I bought them their own zebco rod and reel just over $50 in 1997 & 1998, when they were 3 & 2 we went down the Maitland River for a 6 hr canoe trip on a kids run with likely 20 other parents and kids, after that we switched to the Saugeen River 2 to 3 times a year all kids runs plus they were over night, and 8 hrs on the water, my 2nd son came alomg 2nd birthday I bought him a Shimano Spin cast about $50 in 2002, canoe trips switched to boys or girls runs and I ended up with both sons or my daughter with me, these rods have caught panfish, bass, pike, trout and 1 musky, my nephews and freinds kids still use 2 of them, the other was lent out and ended up at the bottom of the Saugeen river, last year I bought my grandaughter on her 2nd b-day a lady ugly stick and a little Plueger reel and see loves it. when i go fishing with little ones I always take a spin cast and use it so if they aren't catching fish when you get one just tell them they have a problem with there rod and change them it usual takes them a while to catch on to what your doing and by then they don't care. Richard PS: sorry about the rambling, my 4-h fishing club kids use the spin casts if they don't have a rod that works

  18. Hey guys saw this the other day on another site and thought it might help, was at Wiarton on Saturday moving my father, ice was gone but never made it to talk to any body at the water Richard posted on 5-4-2009 at 21:15 SAugeen, Sauble, Pottawatomi and Sydenham Yup did the tour before the snow hits! Saugeen was of course high with about 4-6" visibility, nobody fishing that I could see from the dam. Sauble is a little better with about 8-12" visibility but cold high water. Pottawatomi was nicely off but nobody around which suggests it was slow. Sydenham was right on with about 18" visibility but the cold water kept things slow. Lots of guys on most of the river but there were spots open. The pier at Owen Sound was shoulder to shoulder with about 15 boats scattered all over the bay. Somebody mentioned 40 guys at Thornbury (sounds like fun, eh!) and the Bighead was completely gone
  19. Hey Jeff

Long time very interesting business, I'm hoping to get on the Maitland And Saugeen more this year, I've often thought of fishing the Grand but never made it yet.

    Richard

  20. there was a petition around last spring but this is a new one, I've e-mailed to see what happened to the other one but thought I'd post this any way, seems like they keep cutting their budget, time to e-mail the Minister of Natural Resources, and our MPP's maybe [email protected] [email protected] http://www.ipetitions.com/petition/savethemnr2007/ Thanx Richard spinnerbaitking
