  1. Thanks. Will take a mulligan this weekend I think. Season opener this Saturday on Nipissing right? Have a safe long weekend. Mike
  2. Hi I'm throwing this out there to anyone in the Cache Bay, Sturgeon Falls area. I'm asking if the Lake water levels have receded enough to make the docks in Cache Bay and Lavigne fishable/safe? Thanks, Mike
  3. Any walleye in that lake?
  4. Greatings! I know this is a long shot, but does anyone have any information about Lac du Corbeau? It's in the Notre Dame du Laus area 1.5 hours north ot Gatineau. Going for a week or so this coming Monday. Any info would be greatly appreciated. Mike
  5. I'm not sure if the new slot size of greater than18" is the way to go. I would have thought that the previous slot of less that 15 3/4" was more geared to protecting the present time mature spawning females? I would be curious to get a quick read of these studies. Maybe closing the lake for a few winter seasons would be better? But, of course, that wouldn't interfere with other activities on the lake......... Mike
  6. Columbia Lake, corner of Columbia and Westmount, Waterloo. Took my son there over the long weekend. Lots of sunfish and small largies. You will not be dissapointed. Lots of parking by the old greenhouse and bring worms and chairs. Mike

    Smoking

One part dry, two parts wet (I believe).
  10. Very nice place indeed. Don't forget Snagalot, it's catch and release though. Just in case you caught something worth bringing home! Have fun with the young one. Mike
  11. Anybidy know what happened to these guys? Did they close up shop or change location? Went by last night and the store was empty. No sign though. Thanks, Mike
  12. Randy, what the hell do you do for a living. Don't let anyone buy you a Red Ryder BB gun, you'll shoot your eye out!! Keep your helmet on buddy, Mike
  13. Caught some on the Grand on the fly. Not that big though. I do remember their stentch after unhooking them. I was worst than a sheepshead in August!! Mike
  14. About 5-10 minutes past the exit for Old Barrie Rd on 11 North. Ellwood Epps might have some bait as well. I bet 2/3 of convinience/gas stations around orillia to Sturgeon Falls will have worms in a back fridge. http://www.hotfrog.ca/Companies/Jacobs-Bait-And-Tackle Hope this helps. ( For some reason, I thought Jacobs had closed a few years back, I could and probably am wrong!) Mike
  15. Hey Randy, any luck down at the Legion this year? I didn't get a chance to make it up for the silver bass run. Mike
  16. Until they cut back on the nets, nothing will ever change. Everyone knows where the problem is. My opinion only. Mike
  17. Nice. What size of leader did you have to go up to? 3X? Very nice fish indeed. Mike
  18. Hey people from Sturgeon Falls! Would anyone have recent pictures of the Government dock face lift they would like to share? I'm just curious to see what has been changed. Thanks, Mike
  19. Like Wallacio said, most outdoor outfitters sell this type of webbing or straps by the foot. You make a whole to affix to a screw under the hood and then burn the end so it doesn't slip off. Same for the back end under the hatch. The only problem I had is I had to replace the screws with slightly longer ones because of the added material of the straps. Good luck Mike
  20. I think the MNR will want to go through your walet again! You may be able to use your old card with proof of your course completion. Maybe you could re-apply for another card under the "lost or stolen" section, I'm not sure though. Send them a query via e-mail, that's probably your best bet. I believe someone has already posted the link. Bonne chance. Mike
  21. Your new card will be the same as the old one with the addition of an "H" printed on it to represent you as a hunter. Mike
  22. Hey JimC. You staying at camp LaPlage? If so, and you don't mind pike, try surface lures (something like a torpedo, crazy crawler or jitter bug). Lots of pike and bass at dusk in the bays and weed beds. Good luck to you and yours and have fun. As for suporting the local walleye fishery............. Randy, any eyes left down the dams?
  23. If required to do an e-test, better get that done first. You can't fool the machine anymore by inputing random numbers(not that I ever tried)! Yeah man, insurance company name and policy number, approx kms, payment card. And of course plate #.
  24. Ray, we never ventured into the bay itself. LaPlage has a small chanel you can take that will lead you to Cachebay. This year, the water was too low and the boat probably wouldn't have made it. I'm assuming the weed growth would be high. The pike derby they had this spring in Cachebay, I heard they had the people launch at the Fort in Sturgeon. Randy would know. We mainly fished in front of the cottage or around Bread and Butter Island (wherever we found an spot somewhat free of weeds with more than four feet of water!) And Lew, thanks for the info, her's hoping for lots of snow and a wet spring! Later Mike
  25. Spent a week at the end of July at Camp LaPlage, between Cache Bay and Verner. Caught tons of small perch, largies, pike, catfish and sheepshead. Had a great time. Too bad about the low water levels. What the hell happened there? We've been going ever year for the last two, and will go again for sure. Mike
