I agree with MJL. Carole's beauty and pheromones are irresistible to the fish. Cliff, I suggest you where something a little more revealing next time. At least you'll catch a sucker

What do you mean not fishing? Carp! Wish I could help you, I'll ask my brother, he still brags about the turkey he won in an archery contest.

I just can't shut-up. Bucktail. WoW!! I have to admit that the anniversary of your inspiration is approaching. You caught a very nice pike on March 31 2006 in T.O. I've been following your career and remember that award winner in your arms. I also agree with your reply. That guy's a moron. He stalked you in a psychodelic haze. Probably has some Love cult on the islands and it readying himself for the wicken fertility rituals involving esox lovlious.

You really haven't missed anything. Just an oversensitive has-been with too much time on his hands! Actually, That's kinda the point! I didnt say or think you bashed me in any way. Your pic and comments were fantastic and helpful. Your right. Done. and it does look 14. Heck, I'd even say 12lb. Looking forward to your reports. Your such an idiot. I don't get burped until my diapers changed. Done, done, b-bye.

I'm done. I'm just a sensitive guy. I do care a lot for this site and my reputation in it. Thanks for your replies. S.

Dialupper hell! Well these are some that are kicking around in my "albums" here anyways. All GTA pike. More in my puter but I think this'll help. I'm not grandstanding. As a matter of fact you'll notice this year I try to edit my face out whenever I can. 2 categories: 5-10lbs and 10lbs+ there's some spill over. 5-10lbs 10lbs+ XOXOXOXOX S.

Gadzooks! When I see this post go on a few pages and hit 2000 reads guess I should help clarify things a bit more. I finally did a test and I was right. I took my digital scale and weighed a bag at 19lbs. The same bag weighed roughly 17 lbs. on the BPS $20 lipgrip. These are the 15lb. econogrip LOL!, The BPS 30lb. grip and my 50lb. dig. scale. Here is why I bought one in the first place. I can’t haul the proper net around with me shore fishing that would ensure that my catch remains unharmed. A good cradle or Large, thick open net is not practical. The girth on these pike were also too thick to get my fingers across their backs (try lifting 15+ lbs. pinching a slimy, thrashing, pike upside down in frozen water!) As Dan mentioned, more harm will be caused to the fish weighing it and my digital scale is never quickly, easily accessible. So I went and bought a lipgrip for the 1st time. The first fish I used it on was this one and it maxed out the 15lb. scale so I decided a heavier/longer one is in order for massive March pike. Here is that pike again. Same size as the original post. BPS had a sale and I bought another one (30lbs.) knowing that any scale like this is not accurate. One day I hope to buy a lipper with digital scale when I can afford it. As you can see in EHG’s post that Pike is a nice fat March pike. Guesstimated at 15lbs tops. The pike I originally posted is close to the 40” mark. The girth was approx. 20”. That same pike will slim down soon. Drop at least 5 lbs. and then gradually bulk up again next March. The pic of 4thgens pike is not a thick as mine. It looks like a spring/early summer/ early fall pike. Love to catch that baby in March! I’ll admit again that the pic is poor. I am arching it’s head parallel to mine. If I had a better angle you would see a thick top and fatter belly. In a complete horizontal hold the belly sometimes sags and looks very impressive. I am supporting the head and belly semi-vertical. My arms are bent. I also tried to crop the picture to conceal the location and remove my face. I don't think this helps: O.k. I know that I’m a bit of a joker around this board. Those that fish with me know that I’m a pretty conscientious angler. I don’t exaggerate or lie about a catch. It makes me sick when others do because I get excited about other anglers catches too. If anyone cares to challenge me in any of my previous posts, they’re all there for the picking. I admit again that the pic does not represent the catch. I have to say that I find it perplexing that those who still stand by the 8-10 stance are both accomplished anglers whom make a living from the sport and who’s skills exceed mine. I would take them at their word if they said what they caught did not match a poor pic. By now, perhaps I would hope I had some credibility. (Sure the Dollarama threads don't help my case!) Hope it’s nothing personal boys. I remember what Lew told me when he explained why he’d given up posting reports. He folded his arms, rolled his eyes and said. “Too many “experts” on the board” This is the first time I’ve ever been criticized for a catch. Not sure where the mistrust comes from. I’ve never met my detractors and rarely brag about weight or length. Both comments made are fairly resolute in their opinion that the Pike is not what I claim it to be. What more can I say. I caught it. Weighed it. Critically analyzed the information, reduced the weight and reported. I cannot have a margin of error of 8lbs. It's absurd. Without a scale, I can now estimate my sole target organisms weight and length pretty good. Here come some examples. Please don't hate me Dialuppers! S.

Very nice, I love the handle on that one. Next time you're down you can teach me how to use one of those things!

These days, full sun and clear water are my enemy.

Nice one again, You even make that sheephead look sexy!

Happy b-day I.F. Hope you get a new plane!

Thanks Wayne, Always believed in the truth will protect you. The Calculators were a bit of a joke, as you can see by their titles. Otherwise, this next fish would be in the negatives (your snake is longer........call me) Here's a Simcoe Snake Steve This is fun but my 'puter is crashing every 5 min. More to come...... S.

Sure is Tbay! Here's her paw on Banjo! Can't hide behind a mask Billy Bob!!

This will help: ontariofishing.net Fish Weight and Sizing for Dummies It's approximate but validates what I caught to be in the 16-18lbs. range. Easily. Edit: This ones good too. But as pointed out, field weighing could cost you almost 50% of your fish!. Fish weight/size chart We can fish for years, and still learn something new! S.

Hmmm, By the looks of her, that might only be legal in Alabama.

That was awesome Billy! Glad we got out fishin' today. Hopefully next week will be better! S.

We have to hook-up! That looks awesome! and there I thought you sold it???? I can think of some areas where that would be the best unit to have. Please post as many progress reports as possible. -
Where's Headhunter! Drop him a PM Good luck!

Agreed, However, If anyone thinks I don't know the difference between a 8-10lbs. fish in my hand and a 17-18lbs. is in serous error. Guess I'll have to do better!
-
No problemo Steve, I should also explain my vagueness. This is the second time I've used a boca with a spring scale. This was the first fish on my new 30# Boca that i got at BPS last week so I'm leery of it's accuracy. I trust digital. I just know what the scale said and the girth of the pike. It's all good. Wish you were there. Look forward to that one day

Beats me, that's a beauty. GBAY? Edit: O.K. I'll guess. This is a joke Steve, Buddy: I think you MIGHT fit the same amount of 3 smallmouth bass weighing 6lds. each in that pike. So my guess, looking at a picture but not really seeing it clearly would put that fish in the 13-18lbs. range. How did i do?

I have no reason to Bull on weight (except my own!) 8-10 is a joke. As usual, the pic isn't great The pic doesn't show the thickness. Have a gander at my fingers. The head is out of the shot tilted above my shoulder, almost past my head. It could be 40" but I didn't measure it. I just don't when I'm solo and the pike swallows a lure. My scale is on the lipgrip that I begrudgedly had to use to reach it in the water. Otherwise, I knew my line would snap if I tried any leverage on a pike that size. I've caught a few to know the difference. The lipgrip is not digital so I gave it a 2 pound allowance for error. Mind you, that could also mean it's over 19 lds... I have caught 5 pike in the GTA weighing 17-19lbs. weighed on a digital scale. I've now caught hundreds JUST in the Toronto area You don't see me offering too many measurements as I am usually solo. Honestly, the difference of a 10,15,20 pike is kinda silly to me. I often regret taking the essential time to collect data as opposed to getting that beautiful life form back to the water quickly and safely. Just so y'all know.
