Jedi, how about a small light mounted on the rod aimed at the guides?
Like Bill said, it wouldn't take much to keep it from freezing. Even dunking the rod in the lake works well for about two minutes, lol
-
has anyone ever cut out sodium acetate from those heating pads?
I think it would be in a gel, that could possibly be spread on the rod guides? Not sure how it would react though?
just a thought
-
You don't need much heat at all to turn ice into water.... A few degrees above zero is all that's needed.
Yep, but that's why something like capsicum in a carrier like PEG might just do the trick easily?
I just don't think physically heating the guides would be of any convenience, but that's just me.
Either way, either approach would have advantages and drawbacks
-
Before I resorted to a heated rod guide, I'd look strongly for a compound you could apply that would cause a sort of reaction to keep ice from the guides.
and remember ceramic resist heat

Personally, I'm looking forward to the debut of Fishing with Gussy. I've enjoyed his segments on Points North in past.
Same here.

I'll dig mine out a little later and let you know. They are very detailed and accurate maps though
Just another option...

Done.
One thing I'd like to see is in depth fishing shows. More about what/why/where/how etc. More camera angles of the bait/lures being used. More "rough cut" footage would be great too, as that's often where some of the comedy/entertainment comes into play.
The thing I dislike the most about most fishing shows currently on is the amount of advertising versus the actual fishing footage.

If it catches fish,
For panfish, I prefer a longer rod22-24", but thats just me.
I'd think a short rod though would be alot of fun, unless it's one of those Ron popeil rods, lol. Had a perch on for who knows how long??? Reeled up to find a 11" perch on the line???
What the hell?

If you need, I have access to all the LOTW laminated maps.
If your stuck or having a tough time, I can pick some up for you, just let me know.
It's not outta my way or anything, and the good mapps are not too expensive

Pats are lucky they are there,COME ON.
The same can be said about the Giants too, lol.
Brady will rebound after a bad game, and Manning will still be too sore to throw the ball, haha
-
New England all the way.
I'm saying 31-24 is the final...
Hopefully it's a game though.
The Giants and 49'ers game was a great game for sure

Usually a sign of a very healthy fish and fishery.
The fish that have big heads, compared to body size, are often unhealthy, have gone through or are going through a rough season(s), or are from a fishery that does not have enough food for them.
But of course!
-
Any chance you took a measurement of the fish?
Man those are nice gators your posting up, but they appear short and very fat.
Beautiful fish man, good friggin' job!

When we do our local events, we hit up all the tackle shops and they always help to promote the sport. Also, Canadian Tire is a good place to approach about sponsorship/donations.
Talk to as many people as you can, keep telling them it's for a great cause, and re-iterate it's a family event. Get the kids involved!!!!

I purchased a few Fenwick EliteTech rods this year and I'm very pleased with them. The 28" med. is my fav, it will handle whatever, but it's very sensitive too.
The 24" ML is also a great rod, check it out if you get a chance.
I think I payed about $30 per rod

My goodness that looks delicious!
I too would like to see a dedicated recipe book/thread for OFC recipes

These one are done with 4mm beads, I think I'll like this design for murky water. #2 Matzuo hook, glass beads, Lindy quick change clevises, and two 3# colorados
