  1. Rick you fish prov. border waters, you should know, no? My copy of the regs are in the boat and I can't find the PDF in my filing system. There was a day you didn't need a NY State fishing license if you left and returned from Ontario, now you do.

Not everyone has data on their phone, like us. Not that I'm cheap I just don't like spending money on stuff I already have. I do use the calculator.

IT IS CONFIRMED. Page 12 of the Ont. regs lists a number of border waters where an Ontario license is good and the Ottawa is one of them.

Yip, here you need a MN license to cross boundry waters and you also need to notify DNR if launching from Canadian waters

The river here is so narrow though it's a pita.

I side on caution. I never fish the US side

*Sorry, not DNR, you need to notify customs

Lol look how narrow it is

  2.

The ones I posted I will use those large single hooks. Thats it. They will sink slightly, but thats the idea. I jerk and pause them. Cant wait to hit a new water hole. From all my reports received, it could be a real fish work out. :Gonefishing::clapping:

What do you mean by single hook?

I fish em on a widegap hook Texas rigged and it's a wicked mid summer bait

  3. Lol, I went for a swim and didn't notice how my hair had dried hahaha

Even the lady at the grocery store was laughing at it lol

I've never seen a wave over 4ft that I liked. Just makes fishing miserable imo.

I don't mind rain but heavy wind sets me off completely, always has

  4. I have a good friend battleling Lyme. It's up there with chemo as far as intensity, Lymes no joke.

It certainly can be, but my kiddos "step grandpa" lol has Lyme's. He's 66 I think? And he certainly struggles but you're hardly know.

He still runs the trap line and is probably 80% functional

Just be smart. Long clothing like Brian said, thorough search when ya get home, clean ya clothes!

  5. Picked this one up today, best of the year thus far. Surprised how fat it was

Just tossed spinners off the dock for 2 hours, fun lil outing.

Only bass of the day, caught 5-6 pike in the 20-30" range

Sorry for the crappy pic. Didn't realize how dirty the lense was lol. How about that hair? ????

  6. We went to Lynn Lake Man. some 30 years ago and used 2 different lures and that's it, a monster William's Wobbler, maybe 8", it had a small little piece of red plastic at the end and was hammered metal finish. Also a huge around 6" white Tube Jig. Trolled the spoon at all different depths and jigged the spoon and tube from bottom to top of the water column. Used the old small black and white portable Eagle Ultra to find clouds of baitfish and dropped the lures into the schools. I was in shape then and my arms were ready to fall off at the end of each day hauling in those snot rockets. Averaged 25 pounds, actually considered small. I loved the Grayling fishing best.

Hahaha sick! My biggest Laker is 16lbs

  7. This year for me, is everything on a fly that I can in Ontario waters. The fly rod will be on the toon every trip this year. Perch and smolt bows have been completed. I have gotten a few small mouth, but I want bigger. Same as the bows. I think a pickeral is posible, since I have gotten them on top water baits.

Oh walleye would be a blast! No doubt you could get them on the fly in the evenings, especially in fall. That would be epic!

  8. Well, as usual, I will be the fly in the ointment. I currently have 60lb braid on my pickereye jiggin rod! Long story short, I was in a bind and was offered the line as I didn't have anything with me at the time. It's been on my reel for two years!!!!

So far, I can't say that it has cost me any fish as I seem to be able to catch them as much as anyone else in the boat! Works great at straightening out the hook when it gets jammed in a rock, I don't think I have lost a jig in two years! LOL

Disadvantage for sure is fishing deep water and getting too much line drag.

As long as it casts well enough, I think you'll be fine and maybe even happy knowing that you have the added security of the heavy line, should you hook into a brute.

    HH

    Are you my dad? Lol

He uses 50-65lb braid to jig, swears by it. Boy was he mad when we hit up the upper Manitou for Lakers and he couldn't even get to bottom ???

  9. Lol I have to agree OI.

Im normally fishing 8lb powerpro and I can land sturgeon on that. Ill fish 15lb too but the highest I go is 20lb braid. The weeds here just aren't thick enough to warrant going higher.

My pike rods currently have 20lb suffix 832. And I don't run a leader, never seem to need it so I don't bother

  10. saw these pics on your insta, well done man, ahaha that laker beat my nephews first fish a 4 inch perch ahaha

I was stoked when lily caught a 12" walleye at age 4. But.....she reeled it in herself lol

Always amazing to see kiddos catching fish! It's just pure excitement!
