  1. Biggest mistake I think people make is putting way too much pressure on the blades. My 8in Fin-Bore III cuts through the ice like butter, no need to stop and clear anything no matter how thick the ice. The entire point of the auger is to clear all that cut ice up and away from the blades. I also don't just toss it on the ice when I'm done. The cover goes on as soon as I'm done, probably why I haven't needed to sharpen it in 4+ years.

bingo bango. My auger requires zero pressure. I cut 120-150 holes today like nothing. One tank of gas/oil
  2. Man brutal. 12 of us fishing, only two good fish caught(25" and a 26.5" walleye). Nothing noteworthy at all on the fish side of things :( missed alot of bites, drilled what had to be 300 holes in all, just wasnt our day. On the plus side, met some new friends, had GREAT weather, kiddos had a blast snowboarding near the river and we had a beauty sun out there:) terry, your setting were bang on!!!! Thanks dood, those minor changes made a hyyyuge difference! Lots of fishing for me coming up, so im just gonna do reports in this thread as apposed to starting new ones. Have a few nights on the ice this week then LOTW next weekend!!!!! Stay thiraty my friends;)

  3. Heading out right now. 32" of ice and -2 at the moment. Hoping to put some fish on the ice today! Thanks Terry for the words of advice on the graph last night! Im sure it'll help alot today;) pics shortly(i hope) hahaha. Have a safe day on the ice people!!!!

  4. Swede-bore doesn't have an offset handle, the Fin-bore does (like in the pic above). Although the colour is the same as the Swede-bore (Light blue) compared to the dark blue of the Fin-Bore, lol.

I'm guessing this is an older Fin-bore model.

i guess mine are fin bore then. They do have the offset handle. D'uh, haha thanks bill
  5. Just as an option to a sonar, if you have a smart phone you can purchase the Navionics app. You get pretty incredible detail and it will allow you to locate ledges and other preferred areas.

good suggestion! Just remember iphones tend to freeze up pretty easily. If ya have one, store it close to your body inside your layered clothing
