  1. After years of using Fireline using a rod with mono is like fishing with a rubber band.

No line memory and long casting ability is also a key factor.

lol i tried mono last year just to get rid off my old line. Its rediculous. Can't feel anything. Missed i dont know how many fish. Braid has spoiled us. Once they make nanofil abrasion resistant the line game is over lol
  2. I hope the walleye spawn now on rr. But I have a feeling they'll be spawning on or near season opener which would suck really bad. I'm gonna go down tonight and see if i can notice any activity yet. We have high water again, and have the past 3 years around this time, and it's made for really good spawning years. I hope this year will be the same. Hopefully they leaves the dam alone and keep the water level right where it is for a few months. And lol liverelease

  3. People are crazy not to where pfds. I had a good laugh last year crappie fishing at a friend camp on big sawbill last year. I told my partner for the day to make sure he brought his pfd, and he just laughed at me. We fished only a couple hundred yards from camp, and started smashing crappie right away. I hear a boat and called it out, MNR lol. Sure enough it was. Pleasant folks but one of them tried stinging me on my outdoors card for absolutely no reason lol, just silly. But my buddy got a hefty fine for not having his pfd. $350 if i remember correctly. Anyhow, there life saving abilities make them a must have. And if ya dont have em it can easily cost you your life, or $350 dollars

  4.

I understand that colour units chew up batteries a lot faster. I use a little B & w unit for my canoe and ice fishing. Based on the few times I've seen a colour unit in operation, they didn't seem to add much more info. What advantages do you see over B & W?

    thx

on my unit i only charged it a few times all winter and i was out 50-60 times. I'm an electronics newbie though, perhaps they chew more battery when your moving??? I know one thing i like about color is you can see fish right to the bottom. With me pops old black and white unit you cant mark fish right to bottom, but it's an older hummingbird, maybe there a lot better now?
  5. First of all, HAPPY BDAY! Nice pics and scenery, sounds like a blast! Always nice when humans act civil hey? Fishing is fun, all people should act like your crew today. Kinda sucks you got striped but i understand that feeling of gettig out and casting again! It's what i imagine smoking crack is like lol, always chasing that high. I hope you get a few good ones tomorrow dood!

  6. Christopher dose great flys. That craw is very cool. What size is it?

its a larger one upon my request. I'd guess 2.75". I'm not a fly fisherman. I want these for one specific spot that I'll be fishing on light spinning tackle:) he even bulked them up for me :)
  7. I hope that mutual ground can be found so both sides are happy however the little I have read seems to be that the NIMBYs would rather break than bend. The benefits I see for not only Canadas prosperity and both of our military troops improving the safety of our men is worth its weight in gold. I do know how this feels though being I live 45 minutes from Washington D.C. housing the CIA, FBI,ATF and 6 major military bases. We have test sites on top of test sites here.

if the military, any of the alphabet groups, need a place to test equipment and train, it should be in the middle of nowhere imo. For more then one reason
  8. I'm tellin ya, a 7' med light spinning rod/reel. Perfect! I use a 7' ultra light clarus. Honest to gawd.

P.S...its not your rod thats busting you off. A new lighter rod may help you some, but you need to snap a bunch off before you get the feel of the pin. It takes a bit. Before ya know it, you'll be running 2lb leaders with ease. The best thing for you to do is use what you have, and get good at it. A new rod will just start a new learning curve, and you haven't figured out the gear you already have. EXPERIENCE will outfish any rod/reel combo. Take the time to get as much as you can.
