good man!we give tobacco every morning before a line hits the water, we gave tobacco when we passed the funeral site too
-
I'm no elder but id bet this would be their advice as well. Did you lay tobacco? Always give an offering when removing something from nature. Also burning leftover food is another good offerprobably how it was supposed to play out in the end. if you ever do find it, maybe place it in the bush somewhere to restore some balance ?

I'd never keep a walleye that big lol, i like the real small guys, nothing bigger then 17". Anyhow it was an out of season catch. I'm in zone 5, walleye doesn't open till May 17th. RRFN stands for rainy river First Nations. Its in NW ontario, smack dab between Thunder Bay and winnipegGood to hear you released it. I release the big guys -keep the 2 lbers for the frying pan. RRFN - I'm curious? where is that? Thanx

Well, after this gnarly winter it certainly appears the walleye spawn will be late and possibly line up perfectly with opener, d'oh. I spent a few hours tossing husky jerks for pike, in high cold water. No luck at all for the past few days. Just about to leave i tried slow rolling the shoreline with a spinnerbait. First cast, fish on. Maybe 5fow. Felt like maybe i hooked a stick, the a good head shake. Made me think mid 30's pike, until I got the barrel roll. Damn its a big walleye. Fought like a beast after that, i was thinking ten plus. Got it to shore, gave it a good look, fish was about 7.5 -8lbs, plopped the hook then release. End of my day. Beauty lake walleye, nice clean colour, fat as all heck. But no eggs and not even a puckered butt. This year is gonna be brutal. Water temps still only 39. Just thought id share

those that criticize others is usually a result of their own shortcomings as a human being. There are exceptions of course but remember the vast majority of the membership here are absolutely perfect, from birth.Seeing as how I don't live in Toronto, or the suburbs of Toronto, I have no opinion on the merits he has produced as mayor of the GTA...
Myself like most of those replying to this post do not reside within his jurisdiction and as such have no real right to comment about his performance as mayor.
Like or dislike the man, you are not affected by his tenure as mayor as you are not living where he governs.
Armchair politics and slander, from outsiders reading their daily rag.
All men have problems, it takes a real man to own up to them. As I believe Mr. Ford is in the process of doing... Everyone's rock bottom is different. Nice to see our membership kicking a man while on his knees.
I don't believe bashing a elected official with an admitted substances problem is conductive here.
I fully expect to take some flack from those that are perfect and do no wrong.

this is the best NF post I've ever read i this siteYou'd be surprised at some of the battles that members of this board have had to fight over the years, some still are! IMHO No man has the right to look down on any other man unless they are offering him a hand up.

Your girlfriend is mad over what? Lol, smoke signals work well. Nice catch of crappie:)

oh cool. Frig i wonder which place I'm thinking of then? I wanna head back there someday. Hard to remember, man i man did i put in the work hours back then. 4 on 4 off and i worked 3 of my days off with the mill rights and electricians. I'm thinking of a place in red lake now that i think about it. That highway is nuts, never seen so many moose in my life. You cant even get to the speed limitOk---I was talkin Midland around southern Ontario
That restaurant in Vermillion bay was Braatlands--or "Busters restaurant"---they actually were a one time sponsor (tackle side) when I used to fish tourneys
-
Lol i cant believe they left that in the video
-
lol think i know the place. Pretty sure thats the place that id order Philly cheesesteaks from even though it wasn't on the menu. At least i think its the same place. That place in vermillion was awesome too, attached to the baitshop. Best chilli ever, served with homemade garlic bread and homemade tortilla chips. I miss that place lol. Funny story. A few big wigs came down to the mill. After work they wanted to fish. Somehow my name can up and i ended up guiding these two fellows on the English river. I had zero idea about the river haha. I'm not even sure where they got the boat lol. No electronics at all. Just winged it feeling obligated to show a good day fishing. Man was i scared/nervous. Turns out we just hammered walleye for the 4-5 hours we were out. They were so happy. If i remember correctly i think thats where I got the referral for the job in kelowna right before the buy out. Everyone in the mill shared a chuckle, cause they knew i didnt know the water at all, and these guys were just talking me up lol. Good memoriesNot sure I'll get up that way again---Although I have a good friend who is Chief up there at Wabaskang FN--I would like to visit again sometime
Funny where life takes ya---I left that area and ended up in Wayne's neck of the woods---I went to work as Maintenance Super at Kindred Ind in Midland---see really is a small world
FYI there used to be a great l'il fish N chips restaurant right in downtown Midland---small place but good grub

Place is unreal. And hes an amazing guy. Rented me a 11 man cabin during the winters for 300 bucks a month lol. Satelite, big screen tvs, jacuzzi. The hole nine yards. Up on the hill overlooking the lake. Brought me supper a few times per week. Plowed the road at 3am when it snowed so i could get to work. That man is a great human beingIt really is a small world

At one point they flew me down for a parts manager position lol. Never even talked work, just golfed beautiful courses and ate like a kingYes Manitou---I hear there are no walleyes over that way

When i worked for Weyerhaeuser they took all our suggestions too misfish. I worked alit with the mill rights addresses mechanical or electrical hazards. Man i miss working for that company. When they said safety first they actually meant it. I did catch some flack though when the CEO visited and i wrote him up on a lockout violation haha

Time to drug test the government lol. Probably shut it down for 6 months

I loved the episode he did on eagle lake. Such a pike factory with huge numbers of trophy fish. During the show they catch nothing but hammer handles lol. Those "fishergirls" probably shoulda guided him that day

I've had days here where we just quit fishing because of a "presence" making us feel unwelcome. Thats just how it is sometime. One year, with really low water, me and my kids explored the shore for a few miles. It was really cool to see things that hadn't been seen in years. We got to one point where we just looked at each other and turned around. Very odd and overwhelming feeling to not go any further. Never been back to that spot either and it still bugs me out. A local elder whome i shared the story with said that i was indeed unwelcome. There was a battle fought there and it was alive with ill willed spirits. But on the water i was welcome by the turtle, so do not fear the water
