  2. I know about adding a stinger, done it a hundred times.... But I have no idea what the hell you were talking about... Sounded like a lot if Mumbo jumbo... Care to dumb down how you added the stinger to your jig?

Can't just tie it on and go?

    G

this made me lol. I think hes talking about adding a stinger hook to hair jigs during the building process????
  3. As a young fellow never had it.Everone else did, even walked barefoot through it all.I can honestly say I never had the rash. One thing going for me lol.

I have heard some people are ammune. :thumbsup_anim: .

yeah actually lots of people are immune. Our chief even ate some to prove he was immune. Which is as crazy as it is dumb. Because sometimes immunity fades or vise versa. Eating poison ivy is a death sentence.
  4. I live with poison ivy rashes lol. Dont bother me anymore. Get outta the bush, straight into a Luke warm or cold shower. Clothes go in wash immediately. Makes a huge difference. I only get tiny lil rashes that dont really bother me. And nothing will clean up poison I've faster than a corticosteroid cream. Dont use them often though, they'll wreak havoc later on with your joints

    They are up here.

Little story for y'all..goes along with the fishing OOS and saying you are not targeting them when the CO thinks you are.

Years ago, the CO was gunning for a friend of mine...he used to take too many fish and stuff and they just couldn't catch him.

Opening day of walleye one year they visited his camp and counted the carcasses in the garbage, charged him with over limit.

Now, everybody knows this won't stick.

He goes to court and the judge tosses it out.

On the way out he smiles at the CO and says he won...CO says oh really? 200 mile drive each way to court, a day off work with no pay..I get paid to be here..yup, you won alright.

More than 1 way to skin a cat

well played. But he probably costed the tax payers more than the criminal
  6. Interesting topic.

In 1995 I was working for an Ontario based brushing company near Revelstoke BC on the Incompalleux River with another 7 guys .

Our bi-monthly food delivery never made it into camp ( 4 canvas tents ) because of a collapsed bridge..

we barely had any food and no way out.

I had a telescopic South Bend rod and a few lures , so I poached the hell out of the local Brookie and Inconnu population , we still needed to work on the mountain , one afternoon my Bud had the bright idea to lasoo a Whitetail Doe with an extension cord ..

    " that'll never work ! " Guess what ? First friggin' try !

We were 5 guys reeling in the beast and the other 3 were clubbing the tar out of her with our " weed whackers " a golf club type of deal with a 12" serrated blade ... WE WON !!

Did I poach ? yes . Was I starving ? darn near .. Would I do it again if I had to ?... hell yes !!

wow thats a horrible recount. Id do the same however and once did. With fish, not deer. I got stranded in the north arm of rainy lake for a week during a heat wave, in a bay during the algae bloom lol. Brutal conditions. No doubt one extra day and i was dead. Super duper dehydrated. All we had to eat was fish. Filleted with an axe haha. It was brutal. MNR never even crossed my mind
  7. I agree with animals on the rebound comment. I like it. I have zero issue with an increasing population of wildlife. They are learning large centres are easy food and thats a for sure thing. And mike if bear are moving in a lot of others are as well or will be soon. In my neck of the woods it's just normal. We've always had tons of deer, moose, bear, raccoons, river cats, badgers, bobcat, lynx, cougars etc. but deer exploded a few years back. And now everything else is too. Even down to the lil old frog. Millions of them. I use to laugh about the "their is no cougars in NW Ontario" comments. I've seen 4 now myself, which means there is a heck of a lot more then 4 haha. Chasing the deer i spose, of and they love rabbits too:)

Everyone catches OOS fish now and then. On opening day of trout season I caught a gorgeous smallmouth, drifting a roe bag under a float. Sometimes, the fish don't know they're out of season so they hit anyway. Happens to all of us.

That said, when you're catching far more OOS fish than the species you're targeting (or say you're targeting), it's time to change tactics or move on.

of course we do. My point is that if I'm MNR, and I'm at a distance watching you, and your catching OOS bass after bass and not relocating. Your defense of" oh i was walleye fishing" doesn't really hold any merit. If i watch you catch a bass and move your boat 50 yards or more or just relocate totally, there is a good reason to believe you are fishing what you say your fishing. It's not hard to notice boats that are fishing OOS. I could see where it could get tricky though when boats stack up
  9. and I say that with utmost respect. If hungry...feed the family. I truly believe conservation laws wouldn't be needed if most consumed game when needed...

i couldn't agree more. Its interesting to think about. At what point do you realize the resources are not owned by anyone? Most of us follow these laws not because we have to, but because we Cherish the resource, am i right? If I HAD to put food on the table id be okay though because of pike, thats what i would harvest. Most likely foraging to use in soups and stews. Old school ways to make it last or push further. If I could currently hunt. A nice deer would provide a lot of food, and not damage the resource.
  10.

Sure... If we are talking about the kids going to bed with rumbling stomachs or me possibly facing a fine for whatever (out of season fishing, poaching, spearing, you name it) the kids are going to be well fed every single time.

Assuming this wasn't a permanent situation (aka dire need like you stated above), I really wouldn't even think twice about it.

    thanks bill:)
  11. As anglers, fisherman, mothers, fathers, uncles ect. We have a very strong moral stand on fishing and hunting regulations. This is demonstrated by the vast majority of this board. Now, my question to the board members here. What would you do, if these regulations came in the way of feeding yourself or your family? I'm talking dire need. What would be your take or your stance?
