  1. Well some safety measures make sense. I worked in mining and the measures we took were just commo sense, but very effective at keeping everyone safe. Same in the oilfield, but those were hard to implement because half the workforce is stoned outta their minds. When i worked in the lumber industry our safety measures were awesome, you felt 100% safe in a world class sawmill. But these seem silly and illogical. In theory, my cousin now has to wear a pfd to walk on his dock, because hes "working"? Lol. He said hes buying floatations suits specifically for anyone that comes to check his camp hahaha, camp policy sir, now enjoy your visit in the 30 degree summer heat lol

  2. All of the above. Think, if you throw a hay bail in your swimming pool its gonna be pretty full of hay. If you throw it in a large lake you wont even notice it. Also, lakes with hard bottom composition filter themselves and tend to be very clear. A lake with mud/soft bottom can be clear at times too, if water levels dont fluctuate and the wind/rain stays away. Some lakes around here are so cool too fish, 100 fow and you can see bottom. Others are just zero visibly but are awesome lakes to fish.

  3. Isn't the office in Peterborough the one calling the shots for the MNR? If thats the case of course they have copies of the fishing and hunting regs. Anyhow, i always like seeing the MNR out doing there job, i appreciate that. I can see where moxie is coming from(as well as others), and I'm personally pretty darn close to sharing the same views as him. As for the guy with a gaff, I'd assume he was native and thats a darned tough one to approach. Sort of like calling a guy out on a hunting infraction while he's holding a rifle. Dont be stupid and get yourself harmed over a fishing offence, as mad as it makes us all. And again, he may well be within his right do do so?

  4. I think asking for tourney advice on a fishing site is hilarious....

Id suggest scrapping the bass and targeting musky :)

    S.

nothing wrong wit asking, maybe its his first tourny??? The only real responses he'll get though is to be prepared, so i guess it is kinda silly. The best advice is not even really about fishing. Make sure to eat/hydrate. Hit the washroom before heading out. Get lots of sleep. Be prepared to fish hard. Dont drink after the weigh ins like a lot if idiots do. I've seen a lot of guys lose many places just cause they get hammered when they get off the water
  5. Terry, roller or bunks? What I do is remove the straps/safety chain but leave the hook on the winch attached. I'll get the oldman to back it down until the rear floats (Even if it doesn't, no big deal). I'll reach over and remove tension on the winch so it can unwind. The boat will either move down the trailer unwinding the winch or it will just sit there on the trailer if the water is to low. I undo the front strap, start the motor and reverse it off if I have to. I put it on the trailer the same way. It's extremely fast, no docks required and I'm in and out of the water in zero time. Give a shot next time (Make Brian do all the work! lol!)

we do the same around here, most launches have no docks. Works like a charm. And nice rig Terry!
  6. Holy geez lol. Be prepared for anything. Lipless cranks, shakeyheads, various plastics in different colors so your prepared for different water colors. Lots of plastic craws. All sizes of wide gap hooks, bullet sinkers, drop shots etc. lots shallow/deep cranks and various stick baits, top waters etc. pre rig a lot of rods for various techniques. Study maps before pre fishing. Watch the weather closely.

  7. What the guy said is true. 99% of the time the moose will run a little bit and then turn off the trail and you can drive on by.

They weren't chasing it, just going in the same direction. It just happened to be that 1% moose that didn't veer off the trail.

yep. Here, on some trails, if you stopped and waited for moose you might as well camp out for the night lol. A few hundred kliks might take a week haha
  8. Some prefer paper, some rely on memory, some prefer online, or some blend of all of the above. Thats pretty obvious. I wonder where the money shifts too? And if this was planned in advance maybe a notice should be printed into the regs??? Anyhow, All this back and forth is ridiculous. You cant tell someone their opinion is wrong

  9.

I'm not an government employee, I am simply embracing technology.. It's not going away! So you better prepare yourself for a paperless society! As for the elderly, they'll need to change with the times as well... The good thing is, they don't even have to worry about a license anymore :)

bill hates old people, lol. Most of us would be fine with zero paper books, I'm sure 95% or more of this board use the computer phone technologies quite often. As for the seniors i still think it kinda stinks. Again i dont think anyone is crying over the issue. I thought it was interesting and brought it up for the intent of information sharing, via technologies haha
  10. Ok, sorry i forgot to report back earlier, i have the day off so i was outside hitting golf balls lol. So i called my local MNR and she said yes there have been a drastic reduction in copies being printed this year. She also said they are indeed encouraging online use of the site or printing off copies for your FMZ at your local MNR. She said she is unsure about the future of this as The office in Peterborough has not yet made a decision. But she does believe they will be weened out in the next few years. Now, in my area the books are already gone, checked 8 locations, all out. I'm in NW ontario though and maybe this area got less paper copies because if population? Who knows? Anyhow, lots of good points being made here. I have everything on my phone, PDF and screenshots, so no excuse. I do like one copy though, and i carry a copy in my walleye as well. Everyone can adapt to this for the most part but i agree with this being a major nuance for seniors

  11. I've heard this and IMO it stinks

A regs book is something I always have on board for varying reasons

It's the exceptions that come in handy in a pinch on the water---can't just say--I'll go home and go online

Now was it 18.7 or 15.6 till june 15th etc etc

i totally agree. Now I should say i do not know for certain this is the case. Maybe I'll call MNR to confirm
  12.

I can. Their team matches up perfectly against Tampa. It's no surprise to me how well they're doing.

Enjoy it while it lasts Habs fans.

your in no way Canadian lol. I'm hoping for them but its like a midget climbing Mount Everest. Twice the climb as the other teams, but possible, if Quebec seperates fron Canada.... Still cheering them on though:) go midgets!
