rainy river. not actually leaving, just going further west and closer to LOTWs. river is still on my doorstep, just a totally new section:)
oh wait was that sarcasm??? lol.
tight lines;)
-
capitals tonight!!!
lets hope the good team that hits shows up?
-
Regular spinning rod
Regular guides
Yes... Open water...
Fireline crystal... It was like the strands were all seperating... It was so bad the loops of loose strands were tangling in the guides....
sounds like a faulty spool. thats good line
-
whats the price on those contraptions?
looks like a nice reel but ive never used that style before
-
moving day!!!!
and we got good ice!!!
-
the one near our house was the exception.
it didnt mind us at all as long as you didnt yell and startle it lol
it was a youngin though
there cries are awesome! should be used in horror movies
(ooops im talking fishers)
ive never been too too close to an otter
stay the f away from a beaver on dry land though I can say that! and there deceptively fast!!!
-
otters are awesome and super playful. we see them all the time here
for an animal they sure have fun!
-
id bet money its just for looksIt's crazy, I don't know why more ice rods don't have larger guides...seems like a no brainer.
big guides are waaay more functional but look odd lol
-
yeah beavertail that reminds me one issue with the fenwicks is small guides
-
IMO Okuma also sells the best low end reels Ive ever purchased. the Okuma Avenger spinning reel is pure gold
I fish a few Yo Zuri baits as well and they are indeed higher quality and thats also reflected in the price
maybe im just lucky? but I fish a variety of cranks, stickbaits, topwaters etc and rarely have I had any issues
-
they are starting to be like okuma.
garbage gear but customer service is good.
if 1/20th of the customers have a problem, take care of them....
but overall, reduce the quality and hope 19/20th of their customers are only couch fisherman.
outside of their original j9's, j11's, and j13's, i've moved away from Rapala.
It appears all are happy on this thread that their rapala garbage was replaced, but no one questions about whey the product is garbage in the first place?
weird. I cannot recall having issues with any Rapala lures???
i dont think ive bought a new lure from them though in a year or 3

same rods I use for lakers walleye and panfishI picked up a couple of the Fenwick Elitetech Ice rods last year, just over $30 each. If I recall they are medium heavy action - worked great for Simcoe lakers
the 28" is my fav and yes there medium heavy at that length
very nice rods

I would like to take mine out this weekend for a run.
Not sure it's going to be warm enough though.
They are calling for -46C wind chills tomorrow.
Maybe on Sunday when it should be in the -30's somewhere.
Next weekend look out as they are calling for warm temps and snow.
your screws are loose

fishlogic, the flag idea is awesome!
two of my children are homeschooled and we did that with their geography assignments.
we ended up spending some coin but it was fun and turned out some really tasty dishes!

I have a lowrance elite 3x and the battery has never been below 3/4 even after 12-14 hour days
thats crazy bill that your unit chews the batter that much!
then again mines just a tiny unit lol
my buddy runs a hummingbird ice 45 and loves it! he lands just as many fish as me so Id guess its preference. lots of great info on this thread!
I also have a vexilar fl8 and its just kinda a backup if someone comes with me and doesnt have electronics. it works too, i just much prefer my graph

????????
we need to know!

terry, whats the meaning of life?
?
-
Thanks for all the replies. Well some.
Once I have it the way I think is best,I,ll be asking for a few members to give them a try. Probly wont be til the new year forsure. The prototype will be used sooner Im sure.
I,ll have to blind fold terry and guide him to the large open hole. You did say you want to be one of the testers right?
haha you two crack me up!???
-
I fish outside 95% of the time. I primarily use 8lb Berkley XL for jigging deep-water lakers out of Simcoe.
I also have 8lb Berkley Fireline Crystal on one reel. It does ice up but not as bad as other super lines I've tried. I'd love to try Tufline Duracast if I can find a spool.
duracast is awesome but im almost thinking they went under??? i just grabbed 4 150yard spools cause thats all I could find locally. they said they wont be getting anymore either
i heard on here i believe that others were having a hard time finding it

no issue big cliff, we wanna get families and kids fishing everywhere! Also, not to take away from manitoubass2's function but I have also had a very good response from Big Brothers, Big Sisters, and the Boy's and Girl's Club when it comes to donating stuff.
plus if you can donate locally I think that a good call too!

fluoro gives you more feeling mike.Cause I have 2 jigging rods I'm gunna spool 1 with fresh fireline for above 0 days and the other with mono for below 0 days...
Both 6lb
your choice
i hate mono with a passion
even with my graph, my kids would get bit and you wouldnt even see anything on the rod. theres is like a 5 second delay. lots of missed fish if you cant feel the initial bite
-
my unit is easy for deep water. all i had to do is ask terry then screen shot the message he sent me lolBug a graph for sure. Not a lowrance elite though as they are finicky to set up for deep water laker fishing. The humminfird is a better ice choice IMO. I have the elite 5 and like it on my biat but I am not a fan of it for deep ice fishing. Someone here will tell u it can be tweaked to work well in the deep but I can tell u that the Hymminbird of a better choice. Maybe the HDS are better - have not used them.
he even got it working in heavy current and that was a lil more complicated lol
