  1. Scott Duncan at Sugar Shack Tattoos in Kincardine does excellent work. A long waiting list means he must be good. And he is an avid fisherman, although I'm not sure if he is a member here. He has done some amazing trout scenes. Check out his work here http://www.sugarshacktattoo.com/
  2. That's great Brandon. How many exposures did you have all together?
  3. Last weekend of the Chantry Classic

  4. That's a real great way to spend "the day before" with close friends and family. Here's hoping calm seas and clear skies for your trip.
  5. Still lots of Shimano products in the online catalogue. http://www.lebaron.ca/pdf_access_sp10/index.htm
  6. I've also heard many people complaining about the commercial fishery being allowed to take way too much from the lake in recent years.
  7. Very nice indeed. They are very impressive. I wish I could have a little luck like that out on Huron for the Chantry Chinook Classic. Cut bait eh..........
  8. Well I up-sold myself and went with the 570. Got it on the boat this afternoon and took it out on Huron for a test. Seems to work good, marked lots of fish and has great bottom detail. I'll have to give it a few trips in different waters to know for sure if it suits me but first impressions look good.
  9. We tried some on a trip to Nippising recently, no so good, but they are one heck of a strong fighter when hooked.
  10. That is a great day! My pops just retired on Friday, I hope we can start getting out more now. He and I haven't really fish together in a long long time.
  11. By the way, that turtle is a Red Eared Slider. Not native, likely an unwanted pet that someone released. Many people don't realize how big those little twonie sized turtles in the pet stores will get.
  12. It can't get much better than that! It will be an easy to justify a bigger boat sooner or later. As long as she will still let you get away on a "guys" trip once in a while too.
  13. With 5 kids, all boys, we can never have too many bikes! This will be his first "big boy" 2 wheeler.
  14. Are there many walley's to be had this time of the year up there? If not when do they start to turn on again? I would also like to book a fall trip so I'm hoping the wally bite will pick up by then.
  15. That's what it's all about it, isn't it?
  16. It's time to retire the 23 year old Humminbird...... Can Tire has the Humminbird 550 on sale this week for about $169 and the 560 is $199 at Wal Mart. In all your collective general wisdom, is the 560 worth the extra $? With so many to choose from, 550, 560, 565, 570, etc... all in the similar price range I'm having a hard time deciding on what to go with.
  17. Yesterday was kids day at the Chantry Classic. I had 2 of my boys out with me on the boat but we were starting to get put off by the showers so we headed for shore. As we were coming in towards the pier in Kincardine my wife and the rest of our kids were fishing off the pier participating in the kids day activities. My parents were also there and enjoyed seeing the kids having so much fun. Our 5 year old was already in the lead with a small mouth. Shortly after we arrived, our 14 year old caught a small mouth. He took it up to get weighed in, it was exactly the same his younger brothers. At the end of the event they both got a new rod and reel. Then they had draws for the prizes, out 14 years old wins a sleeping bag and the 5 year old wins the grand prize, a new bike! HE was on cloud nine! All this on his birthday weekend. All in all, it was a great day for kids, despite the rain that got quite heavy at times. Many thank to the sponsors, prize donors, organizers and especially the volunteers that have created lifetime memories for all the kids. Now today is Ladies day, lets see what the wife can win!
  18. I saw a Great Egret last evening here in Bruce County.
  19. Miller lake on the Bruce peninsula isn't too bad, but a longer drive then you are looking for.
  20. That is the strangest bullhead I've ever seen. I lived and fished in NB for nearly 30 years and only caught a few but not one like that. It looks like a genetic mutation known as piebald found in mammals and reptiles. I used to fish eels a lot, they are very common in NB, it wasn't unusual to catch them well over 4 feet. I have a picture of me with one that I caught that is longer then I am, well was at the time. I was probably 12 or 13 at the time.
  21. Ahhh Home Sweet Home! Nice pictures. The Fundy trail has just recently opened that new section, I can't wait to see it all finished. I'll be heading back to NB for a family vacation at the end of August. The brookie fishing gets even better later in the year! The pickerel fishing is excellent early in the summer in the bigger lakes. My kids just got back from a fishing trip in NB with my Dad and they did really well. My 12 year old got one 24' monster pickerel. We are speaking of true pickerel not the Ontario slang for Walleye.
  22. Thanks for the information everyone. We made it into Boat Lake today, with about 3" to spare under the fishing bridge and about 8" under the bridge on 13. I have a 16 foot wide body aluminum, tiller. The lake is very shallow, only about 4 feet for the most part. The entire lake is now grown in with tall thick grass stalks. Havoc on the outboard. Caught a LM and a few SM. Nothing bigger than 14 inches. I'll try again some other time and head up into Isaac.
