  1. going camping in combermere this weekend at chippawa resort on kamaniskeg lake, has anyone fished this lake before? Just wondering what the fishing was like?
  2. I live 10mins from kashag. we are going out fishing on 12mile and boshkung lake friday night if you want to tag along. If you want to shore fish, go to burnt river in donald. You can always slay some muskies there or a bass.
  3. Yeah some sort of first aid kit is a good idea. sometimes your to far in the bush to get to a vet right away. we went camping with our manchertser terrier and she stepd on a broken bottle and cut her paw. we were at least 2hrs from the closet vet. benadryl also saved us, when she got stung by a bee.
  4. yes i mean the burnt river in donald.
  5. If you want to fly fish for browns, go out furnace falls in irondale. If you want to fish musky on a fly rod try donald river near haliburton. Lots of bass in the gull river, they seem to swim in schools. the burnt river in kinmount hold nice walleye, musky and bass. The bottom of the whitewater reserve also holds rainbows as they were stocked in minden lake. If you need any more info pm me as i live in minden.
  6. Broke my ankle two weeks ago, and last weekend we took our trucks into this lake called cinder lake and went camping. It was great for me because my bro and his buddy did all the work, all i did was fish eat and drink beer. I also had to get in a canoe to get to our camp site. Get the doctor to give him an air cast, and just make him stay of the leg. Getting used to walking with crutches in the bush might take a day or two, but i drank a 24 of beer and still could get around our campsite with no accidents. He just needs to make sure he is carefull with the ankle because it needs to set right and if it doesnt then that means surgery. good luck and have fun.
  7. try fishing for them on kashag, right near the bridge in ingolsby were the lake enters canning. a guy from the fisheries in haliburton told me that were you will catch them.
  8. i was in there last summer, Best to take a 4x4 in there in early spring as the road floods out. we took my jeep and my brothers toyota pickup. we had lost of car come past the campsite. Good bass fishing and laketrout fishing. If you go in with a boat or a canoe, take atrip into the hawk lakes and 3 brother lake. 3 brothers is full of large and small mouth bass. The best campsite is at the boat launch it has a mile long sand beech.
  9. I baught the backroads map book for the area and the lake map book. Both are worth the money, the backroads map book has all the camp spots and acess's to back lakes. The lake book contains only the larger lakes in the area, with stocking charts and species. Your best bet is getting some maps of the area from the mnr in town. They are very friendly and willing to print off stocking charts and maps. If you want I know of some beautiful spots up here to paddle and camp, with great fishing.
  10. You can also try eagle lake its a ways out of the way, but you will catch monster lakers and white fish. A friend of mine has a hut there and i have had a couple line breakers. also try Bluehawk its on the highway from haliburton to gooderham. We fish it for pickerel and have been pulling 4-7lbs pickerel out of there, and the bite is always on at 5-7pm. I was out on bluehawk on sunday and saw a 44inch musky come through the ice there.
  11. Elphant lake has great pike fishing in the winter. Farquer lake had great lake trout fishing and isnt to far away. You can alsotry glamour lake in goodheram. just to list a few
  12. I agree with All Knowing Angler, goiing in to debt on a car at a young age is dumb. If you break it down, you are making payments on the truck, gas, insurance, and maitnenece a month. You can buy used and still get a decent warranty. We offer warranties that can be pruchased on any vehicle on or lot. And the warranty company is great to deal with on claims.
  13. Thanks guys for the info. The winch has a 6.5 hp briggs and stratton engine, with a centrifugal clutch off a go kart. The spool holds 1000ft of line and can pull me up to about 24-25 mph on water.I built the entire thing from scratch. The Park in my town floods out every spring when the snow melts and we go winch there. last year the parking lot at the lcbo flooded out and we rode there too!
  14. If its legal or not who cares. We are just out having fun and taking precautions as needed. Just thaught I'd ask and see what response i would get. Guess this is not the forum to ask for spots as most people probably dont want us there anyways. I'm not worried about drowning as we always wear lifejackets were there is currents and undertows.
  15. Yes it is legal,I can ride in 3"s of water. What we look for in dams and weirs is some sort of drop that we can jump down, just like a skateboarder jumps dowm a set of stairs.http://www.vimeo.com/8970872 check that video out.
  16. hey I'm new to the site, I live in the haliburton highlands.i spend most of my summer fishing and wakeskating. I have a gas powered winch for wakeskating. i can ride pretty much anywere be it a stream, lake, pond, puddle, etc. I have been searching around for new spots in Southern ontario. I am looking for small weirs or dams that we can winch at. Just wondering if anybody knew of some good spots? here is a pic of my winch .
  17. If the buyer really is motivated to sell the truck, then he should take it in and have it looked at. But keep in mind, most shops are going to charge you a service fee. which can be up to an hours worth of labour, and most shop rates can be $75-110 hr. We charge 1hr for a general inspection, and 1.2hrs for a saftey check. But getting that vehicle on a hoist is probably the best thing you can do before you buy it. Just be there when they put it on the hoist , so you can look under it too. Just make sure what ever you buy that you test drive it and have it looked at by a mechanic before purchase.
