  1. Horseshoe is full of pike and musky now! A customer of mine pulled a 24lb 48" musky out of 4 ft of water near the boat launch last year! You can try beach river bridge on 35 for eyes! we slayed a ton there last week! Little boshkung is good fro pike too near the launch!
  2. I went and purchased a boat from a friend with no trailer, a 21' wakeboard boat.. so i borrowed a trailer from my father, his boat is 17' ski boat. well we get the boat on the trailer and realize the boats to big. so we decide to tow it anways. i make it 2km down the hwy and the boat starts swaying behind the truck. just as i feel like the truck and boat are going to roll over the boat pops off the trailer and starts sliding down the hwy right into my jeep. so now my new boat is sittin on the hwy with the bow in the side of my truck. to make things worse its a friday night on a long weekend and i have every cottager is slowing down to take pics. there were some good samaratins who stopped and helped out. to make a long story short the cop who came felt sorry for me and only charged me unsafe load. so make sure you have the right size trailer.
  3. the lake he is talking about is kushog lake in haliburton, i think! all the pike from kushog are in boshkong and twelve mile and so on....Some old guy was stocking a pond full of pike for his grandchildren, and the mnr blew up the beaver damn causing all the pike to pour into st.noras lake, then koshog, then boshkong, then tweleve mile, mountian, horseshoe. i went to my pike spot tonight and was catching oos smallmouth on huge pike lures!! and all the fish in the spot were huge bass, no pike to be seen!
  4. just finished wakeskating on kashawigamog in haliburton! water was 2.5c. no ice on the lake, i would imagine the rest of the lakes are starting to open up!! 12 mile in minden was almost open! cant wait for ice out pike!!!
  5. we slept on a layer of pine branches with a tarp on top of that and some airmatress.then 2 sleeping bages each. It was really warm inside the quincy and i dont knwo the exact temp, but it was cold sunday morning. I would deffinatly do it again, only this time i would leave the water in the cooler. the worst part was getting the gear to site and building the quincy. we are thinking bout going back to the spot later this winter.
  6. Me, my brother and a buddy headed out saturday to big east lake to camp the night in a quincy and do some fishing. It took us 3 hours to build the quincy. The fish were on, i was catching jumbo perch but no splake! It was ana awsome experience and great memories. Here are the pics.
  7. Thanks for the info. Im taking my brother out there on sunday for his first time ice fishing. I have never fished the lake before and heard there was splake in it.
  8. We were using shiners and chubs. The fish i missed were on chubs and about 4ft under the ice.
  9. Hit up long lake yesterday. lots of ice and the bite was on but no fish! long lake has splake, rain bows and laketrout. But the rainbows are finichy fish and are nibblers not biters.
  10. Just wondering if anyone has fished big east lake on the 118 between bracebridge and canarvan? Wondering how the bite is and what fish are in the lake ?
  11. The liberty is a great ride, They did have a recall on the front upper ball joints. Other than that great drive train and cant beat a manual shift transfer case, less junk to mess up with the 4x4. Although the jeep grand cherokee would be a better tow rig and more roomer. But be more in fuel, I would not tow with a crv or an escape. even my 98 cherokee has a hard time pulling my 21 bowrider. The escapes are good vehicles but the older ones are prone to wheel bearings and missfires. Just remember what jeep stands for JUST EMPTY EVERY POCKET. I have owned jeeps for the last ten years and own to grand cherokees and a 2 dr cherokee thats lifted. And the jeeps will go anywere you want them to.
  12. Most of the smaller lakes are frozen. so i imagine wren will be solid. You could also try lost lake, as it will be frozen. even some of the smaller lakes on the way in to sherbourne lake.
  13. some of the smaller lakes are starting to freeze up, but the bigger lake around canarvan are still wide open. i know mountian, 12mile, boshkung, halls lake and koshog are still wide open. i was out on 3 brother lake and it had 3-4" of ice on it.
  14. we went out last night and slayed the bass. as soon as the sun hit the trees it was on, they were hitting black jitter bugs and holapoppers. every fish we pulled out was over 2 pounds, and the biggest came in at 4.5lb large mouth. There is nothing like catching large mouth on topwater baits, just the sound of them striking gets me excited.
  15. anyone on here ever fish there? hows the fishing?
  16. awsome info guys, thanks. I will definitly check out palmer rapids, not worried about the road as i have a lifted jeep. I really hope to get into some pike, and smallies.
