Howdy all. I've fished this lake hardwater before, but never softwater. I'm going to be staying at the south end of the lake, and have access to a small boat/motor(too small to go all around the lake but can fish a few small bays maybe). Is there anywhere near there I could get a few pan fish to keep the kids happy? Either from the boat or shore.

NF - Travel Trailer or Toy Hauler (Stolen trailer)
atvaholic replied to atvaholic's topic in General Discussion
Nobody was surprised more than me. They told me they have to wait 2 - 4 weeks for the police investigation. If they did not locate the trailer, then they need to replace with a 2018 with similar specs. I guess we'll see. If they are going to replace the trailer, i'll do without the trip. -
Got a call the other night, the bro-in-law asked if I had taken my trailer home that I had parked on his property. I could only imagine what he was getting at...yep, it was GONE. They cut the chain and off with it in the middle of the night... So if someone offers you a great deal on 2012 KZ Sportsmen... Anyway, I called the insurance and I had no idea but apparently they need to replace it with a 2018 with similar specs. We have an option of upgrading, though we need to wait 2-4 weeks for the police to finish their "investigation", so our July trip is off I have an ATV I like to bring, so I was thinking about a toy hauler. My problem is, I don't know of anywhere to camp and ATV. (i usually camp in central Ontario)I figured this might be a good place to ask. Any suggestions? We loved our KZ, but no matter where we brought it, it seemed to attract mice! That sucks. Not sure if any types/models are better in this regard. I know nothing about toy haulers. Oh, and I haul with a half-ton, so Id like to keep it between 24 - 26 ft. Here is a picture of our trailer. Some great family memories, the kids were devastated to hear it was gone.. RIP trusty sportsmen

Although possible, I don't see how it could be private, as : 1. There were several homesteads on the road 2. The road is a through road that connects 2 rural highways 3. There were no signs indicating such I think ironworker said it right "You would think they were the ones that fought their way North to the safety of Upper Canada in 1776 and in 1812." These people aren't hurting for money, Large house, fancy vehicle, etc -- I just think they don't like "our kind" around.

Good point. I guess I dont know the laws/bylaws all that well.

Yes, that's exactly what this was. I'm angry that she released the animals to come chase us. If my children were with me(they weren't this time but often are), this would have ended very very badly.

Well boys, a bit of a rant here. Was out this weekend with the guys doing a little trout fishing... Got into a few as well! Weird because with the windstorm on Saturday, there were trees dropping all around us, but we toughed it out. Sunday, not so good. Buddy fell down on the bank and smashed his knee good on a rock. He couldn't walk much so we figured we'd hit some of the easily accessible areas from the road. We looked at a map and found an area that crossed the road. We drove there, and buddy fished from the culvert at the road. The land was posted so we let him fish the pool while the other 2 chatted for a bit. About 2 minutes later we heard a bunch of crazy barking and saw 3 large dogs about 150 yards away on the road b-line it to us...Poor buddy with the knee had to limp to the truck and barely made it.. They got to the car and started climbing up the doors...(found a nice scratch after). We saw the owner so we waited for her to approach. We were just fishing just wanted her crazy dogs gone and we would continue on fishing. So we spoke to her and explained we just wanted her to get control of her dogs and we would continue fishing at the road. She tried to tell us that the reason the dogs swarmed us was because we were on a ":private road". I explained that we weren't on a private road as we were on a road clearly marked on a map and with a street name (that included the name of the township). There were no signs other than "No winter maintenance beyond this point" -- and that was way past the point we were fishing in. The road is a through road and connects two rural highways. An argument ensued, and we just decided to let it go. We were in a small township and figured this lady knew the local fuzz, and even though we did absolutely nothing wrong - We'd somehow end up with trouble. Pretty rattled about it, just wanted to rant. Hope your weekend was better.

I thought that's the way it was too. But someone told me it is not. If the owner bought the ATV, then later put it up to get another loan, it does not show up on the title - but you may be on the hook for it..or so they say.
-
Hi, looking to buy I used ATV, but I know these days you need to be careful. I see that you can do an online lien search, but a someone I know told me that he did that (vin was clear) and had a bailiff show up to repo his machine because the previous owner put up the machine for collateral when he got a loan for a house reno. He lost his job and couldnt make payments.. Is there any truth to this...and how do you avoid it?

Wow, Nice pics. How were the rooms?

Thanks fisherman! Seems like a good place. Is it suitable for a family stay too?

Hi, Some friends and I want to do a small little adventure. We are "intermediate" skill level, but looking to do a 2 - 3 day trip. Nothing too extreme. Maybe staying at lodges each night. 2 - 3 hour from Toronto would be nice. Just want to know if you have any suggestions..?

You mean the pump? It shoots it outside via a pipe, and drains into another pipe. Not sure where it goes from there. No sidewalks, no problem with ice in the gutters.

Hey, reaching out to you all to see if anyone might have a solution to this nightmare... Bought a new house about 10 years ago. All was well for the first 3 years, in the spring we had our sump pump give out and it flooded the basement a little. I thought 3 years was a little low, I thought the pump was under powered, so I upgraded from 1/3 to 1/2 horsepower - and not one of the cheapest pumps either. I replaced it myself and thought we were good to go for years to come. Around 2.5 - 3 years years, and I had the same problem, another spring flood in the basement. This time, I noticed there was some oil in the sump pit, likely from the pump. I called someone to assist with this as I thought these pumps should last longer, and maybe there was something I was missing. He came and suggested we clean all the muck and debris out of the pit, and get something to lift the pump off the bottom to keep it a little cleaner, should make it last a long time. Wrong. With the rain last week it flooded yet again. I was smart enough to install a sump alarm this time, but unlucky enough not to be home when it went off.. So this time the sump was full to the top. I tried to manipulate the float to see if it was stuck. Pump would not turn on. Plugged it in directly and it worked, Tried to plug it through the valve and now that worked, sucked all the water out. Watched it for a couple of days and it worked flawlessly. Yesterday alarm went off again.Sump was almost full. Pump wasn't working at all. I tried another outlet thinking the outlet is bad, no go. Pump is pretty much dead. Sometimes it turns on, sometimes it doesn't. Looks like i'll be replacing it yet again. Wondering if anyone has had any experience like this, or any idea whats going on? Doesn't sound normal to me. Asked the neighbors and they have yet to replace their sump pumps.

Just picked an old Polaris sportsman 06 model to have a little fun. Had a quad back in the day but sold it. I don't remember what insurance costs but I just got quoted $430.00 for the year on a 10 year old machine. Wondering what everyone else pays. I don't remember it being so damn expensive.

I think you guys are right. It looks more like that, and the tail didnt look like it had a rattle. Damn it was big. I think I was under -estimating when I say 5 feet, it may have been longer. Kind of neat to see up close. No way I was touching that thing... -

Here is another look at it.. -
Any idea what it is? It was about 5 feet long. Swam like a fish. It wasn't that aggressive, Iwhen I got close it gingerly left, but kept coming back. I think it might have been gaurding a nest, so i left it alone. Not before a nice smallie took my spinner though :-) The markings look like a massasauga, but I was told they dont grow this big. This is near where I live, and have never seen anything like this in 42 years.

Thanks for the tips. Is there anyplace to pull over along the highway to access these lakes...or just the shoulder?
