Great report Pete.

I was just there for the Canada Day long weekend. I wasn't able to find any charts of the lake. The lake is reasonably deep in the middle, but if you have a boat, be very careful near shore as there are lots of big rocks. I launched my boat at one of the many water access points between the cottages and as I was coming back to pull the boat out of the water, I dinged my prop on a rock. Needless to say I wish I had searched out a proper boat launch. Fishing for the few days we were there wasn't the greatest - it was pretty chilly and windy, but we did manage to land four 2-3 lb smallmouth (all on worms, C&R), hooked but failed to land a 3+ smallmouth, and had a good sized pike snap my wife's line. I'm told that the lake also has walleye but we did not find any of those. Good luck and have fun.

Perch is my favourite, battered up with breadcrumbs, flour and a few spices, fried up in butter. Mmmm... I like walleye too but I can't seem to catch many of those .

Looks like this story has a tragic ending. The missing boater's body has been found according to the Long Point Board http://www.longpoint.on.ca/forum/topic.asp?TOPIC_ID=7062. Please be careful out there and remember to wear your life jacket, especially in rough water.

Try along the sunken railway line out from the public dock. I've had some good success there with spinnerbaits and around the south part of Tick island with topwater lures on a nice calm morning. Be careful not to cross the railway line except through the marked channel on the other side of the island. If you're looking for largemouth, try the inlet bay just east of there around the point.

I've fished that area under the Queen's Ave bridge and only ever caught smallmouth bass, carp and panfish. Nice to hear that there are some walleye there too. I agree with Headhunter about Springbank Dam - this can be a really good spot esp. for smallmouth. Also, in the area below the Fanshawe dam, I saw someone walk away with three nice (2-3 lb) walleye when I was there a few weeks ago. Hope to get back out there sometime soon.

There are a couple of marinas in Summerstown on HWY#2 just east of Cornwall. One is Roger's marina (613) 931-1443, can't remember the name of the other one. Have been away from there for too long to know about good spots. I'll be going to Cornwall this summer so pls. let me know how you make out.
