  1. You are unbelievable! Do you ever go out and get skunked or catch one or two fish? Good work again and fantastic report. Me and my son went to that creek with the browns that you've done so well at lately and caught a handful of steelies but no browns up at the dam. Had I known that it was that good up there, I would have gone up as well, but the son would have had a hard time with no waders. Anyways I'm second in line for the guiding thing if you ever do start something. Looking forward to your next adventure. Mike G. Kingsalmon
  2. Always in awe of your reports! Keep it up. Those of us that can't hit the rivers as much and as successfully as you, can at least live through your awesome reports and photos. KingSalmon
  3. Does anyone have a link to the news article concerning this event?
  4. Does anybody freeze roe without curing or water hardening? I know that it usually comes out like goo, but that to me would have better milking properties than water hardened eggs that are like rubber.
  5. Hey Twocoda, do you freeze your roe first and then use the Foodsaver? If not, doesn't the vacuum make the eggs explode? Also when thawing, do you release the seal prior to thawing? THe reason I ask this is because of the whole herring I buy for cut bait. All instructions tell you to break the vacuum seal prior to thawing otherwise the vacuum sucks all the juices out of the herring. Also saw a show where they flash froze the herring in a tray then vacuum sealed it. THANKS.
  6. I think they spread that stuff to prevent black ice from forming on cold humid nights. Here in Caledon they spread the stuff and its good until the next big rainfall. Once they start spreading salt they dont need the brine anymore because the salt permeates into the pavement.
  7. I can't believe that they were not scared off by the flash, but instead came to see more of flash. Weird. I often thought that deer would be out of there by one flash, but I guess I'm wrong. I'll bet that you would only get one picture of a big buck though. They don't get that big by being stupid.
  8. I know we have all heard the state of the salmon fishery on Lake Huron/Georgian Bay that it sucks lately, but I fished a trib that runs into Georgian Bay and I saw more salmon than I have ever seen in the last twenty years. I went down to the river expecting a few here or there, but I counted nearly over two hundred. Not a lot of fresh fish, a lot of white tails but lots of fish and many were in good shape, some over twenty pounds. Did not see any of the long torpedo-like fish that others have seen. So maybe its not all that bad. Most of the Lake huron/GB tribs turn into sanctuaries after the trout season anyways, so there will be lots of salmon spawning in peace. And like Irishfield said, if they are fishing within the law, there is no problem, and more fish will be released than kept anyways.
