  1. This time of year usually 1.8-2.2mph works .But as the season gets going I would say 2.4 is the ideal speed that works for me.Dont forget today the lake was calm so when there is a little chop that will also slow you down.Dan
  2. The mounts that come with the Scottys dont rotate,But you can buy the mounts that rotate and tilt.Or if you buy the pedastals they rotate.Dan
  3. All my Salmon rods are fitted with Okuma Convectors and after 3 years of heavy use I have had no problems.I think for the money Okuma reels are a good buy.
  4. Welcome aboard Row boat ,Great intro.Looking forward to some good reports.Dan
  5. Wayne take a look. http://www.scotty.com/marine/products/prod...ctric/1116.html
  6. The interior of your boat is set up like mine,I use the Scotty 1060's and love them.I used 12" pedstal mounts that were made by Scotty.Pull one pin and the rigger spins in 45 degree increments for towing.the mounts come in 6" or 12" hights depending on the gunnel height of your boat. The Scotty's are for sure a one handed operation.Which makes fishing by yourself so much easier.
  7. Mike was it your cranking battery or your deep cycler?
  8. First to get down to the Grand for some catfish this weekend. Then Quinte for walleye until July then lots and lots of salmon fishing out of Bronte. Then in the fall back to Quinte in attempts to beat my p,b 13lbs walleye. So Bucktail and Squid if you guys want to hook up for any of these trips let me know.Quinte fall walleye and summer salmon fishing rule.Dan
  9. Thats all we need eh Squid 2 Wall Marts within 2 blocks.Dan
  10. What I do is remove the cotter pin, nut and flat washer then remove the outer bearing. Then screw just the nut back on.Pulling towards you on the hub at a slight angle use the nut on the stub shaft to pull out the inner bearing and seal. This method should not damage the seal.Clean the bearings then inspect them repack or replace as needed.
  11. This time of the year I prefer the lower Grand.Lots of big cats.we also have done well in the summer months for walleye.
  12. Sam you can count me in as well.Dan
  13. Happy b-day neighbour.
  14. In the spring I like to use a bottom bouncer with a floatng worm harness tipped with a white Mr Twister tail.Trolled slowly it works great .
  15. The Merc 4 strokes are made by Yamaha.I have 50hp 4 stroke Merc and luv it.It sips gas and low maintance.
  16. The worms are out thick in Burlington tonight.Filled my worm box in no time.
  17. We did really well on Quinte last opener. But thats sometimes rare there.A good place to be if you can put up with the boat traffic.
  18. Welcome to the board acrimi.I know when I first got my new boat I couldnt wait for soft water either. So we headed out to Lake Ontario in search of some bows.Just uncovered it this weekend and repacked the wheel bearings and we will be out next weekend for sure.Dan
  19. Hitch city is also a good place to try.
  20. Mikethepike what happened to you being a tiller man and would only ever own a tiller?I think you are getting soft .For the amount of cold days that you wuold actually need a roof compared to the warmer days I will take my tiller hands down.Even in December it does not bother me.As far as not being able to take sharp turns I think that is mostly in the type of hull you are running.Yes you have to be a little more carefull with a tiller I will agree. But if you use your boat with common sense there is no problem.I use my 16 ft with a 50hp 4 stroke out on Lake O with no worries. So I guess you can figure my vote is tiller.Dan
  21. Thanks every body for your input.I was thinking about getting a round bait caster. They appear to hold more line,so in the fall I can also use it for some Quinte walleye. It looks like I may go with the Shimano Cardiff and a 7ft medium action berkley lightning rod.Spool it up with 12lb mono and hope for the best. Thanks again .Dan
  22. I just checked ou the Shimano Cardiff .Loooks like nice reel.I have always been a fan of Shimano. But what wieght and length rod would you pair the Cardiff 200 up to?
  23. Its not my perscription thats the problem. Its my prescription I am having problems with.Get it.
  24. Thanks Terry. That was the problem I had before.Mabye a piece of tape will get rid of the bird nest frustations.
