Welcome back Cliff. You’re a great guy and have missed your input here.

If those roosters fight as crazy as they look, no doubt you had a blast!

Looked for something different to cook from Longos. Bought some fresh, wild caught Whiting for the first time. Whole fish. 10-12 inches. Pan fried like a speckie. Head off, guts out, salt and pepper and coat in flour. Fry till brown in butter. Crispy skin- no scaling needed. Beautiful mild white meat. Cost about $1 each. 3 of those cuties and I was happy.

I enquired of you guys about a genny in case of power failure.
Found this highly rated Honda inverter/generator.
They are on sale for $1999. That’s $600 off till March 31. All dealers
Now let’s hope I don’t need her ???

Having a place on the Kawarthas, these carp trouble me. If they make it into Erie, won’t be long and they’ll be in Pigeon. Kiss fishing and boating good bye. Never mind propert values.
I hope they get their act together.

Looks like they want more action on the invasive carp issue.
Good thing, me thinks

Put fish in ziplock and fill with water. The water is airtight, and you get no freezerburn at all. The comment above is Bull as far as I'm concerned. Fish doesn't get mushy in water.

Same. I do this at the cottage. No mushy fillets. Likely some loss of flavour leaking into water. I’ve heard of people using milk instead of water. Never tried it. Freezer burns ruin meat. Hate it.

Heading down late March. Anybody do any fishing down there? Worth taking my gear?

Make sure you have good weather. Can be miserable in cold, rainy and windy weather. There are basic and higher end boats. Pigeon, Buckhorn and Chemong lakes are all connected without locks. Called Tri-lakes. Beyond that you can litterally go forever through the locks on the Trent system.

Property taxes are roughly based on property value.
Lakefront properties pay lots more than rural/bush properties.
If you’re not on a municipal road you’ll have to pay for road maintenance and snow plowing
Keep bugs in mind. Hardly any at Yorkdale. You might be a prisoner at your bush property for 2 months.
Can be lonely up north in the winter if you’re a social animal.
Think about proximity to retail, hospital, hardware/Home Depot.
I’d want to be within 20-30 from town. Max 1hr from major hospital.
Preferably 10 min from Kawartha Dairies ?

Have some time and kinda would like to go this weekend but last year I was disappointed in the Spring Show. Sportsman Show a lot bigger.
Or go to both ?

Way better than zip lock bags.
No freezer burns
Love my Food-saver unit.

Thanks Everybody.
Looks like the Michelins are the way to go. Will likely wait till the rebates come back on. They had a $70 rebate in the fall.
I guess it doesn’t matter that the full seized spare is BFG Dueller. I’ll hopefully never need to use it.

2013 4Runner with 123,000 km on original tires. Bridgestone Dueller H/Ts. Have been great so far.
Want to replace soon with new All Seasons.
Just checked Costco site.
Can replace with the same tires or Michelin Defender LTX M/S for an extra $120 more for 4 tires.
I don’t mind the extra $ if it’s justified
What to do?

Just panfish.

Just watching Charlie Wray. He wasn’t talking about it like he usual dose but I noticed he’s wearing an inflatable belt as a life preserver
Never seen that before. Checked them on line. Different types.
Anybody have anything to say about them? They look more comfortable to wear.

Nice!

Heading down for a week end of January. First time. Does anyone know about shore/marina fishing there or charter boats?

???
I’d like to experience that kind of cold.... for a day!

I saw a bunch of Simcoe Whities at the candlelight Christmas Eve service praying for warm weather.
See, there is a God.

Use to be painfully slow to type from my phone on occasion. Kept me from contributing.
Lightning fast now. Thanks!
Help with rod guide repair
in General Discussion
Posted
Noticed the first(biggest) travel spinning rod guide ceramic insert has broken into several pieces and fell out . The guide itself is fine but the groove in which the ceramic ring sat in is sharp.
Do I need to replace the whole guide or can I fill the groove with crazy glue or epoxy and sand smooth? I’m not looking for perfection. Just functional.
What say you Gents?
