Very toxic to aquatic life. Basically vaporizing pesticides.
From the MSDS
3. HAZARDS IDENTIFICATION This pesticide is highly toxic to fish. Do not apply directly to water. Drift from treated areas may be hazardous to organisms in adjacent aquatic sites. Harmful if inhaled.
Kinda like my bucktail jigs ?

I’ve thought the same about carp here in the Kawarthas. Easy to catch from shore. Never caught one less than 10 lb. Where are the young’ns ? Obviously somewhere.

Surface 75 F this afternoon on Pigeon. That’s way up from a week ago. Took a dip. She’s way cooler down below. The boys weren’t too happy ?

and i am kind of a hermit...i very much enjoy the solitude of nature

im not selling my home till the fall so i have 4 months to figure everything out...hence starting this thread
Can’t find the thread. I’ve heard that lots of folks have cashed in on their GTA real estate and moved north. Many have returned to civilization.
Issues: Loneliness. Especially in cold season. Bugs. Shopping - all kinds, food, hardware/lumber etc. Fuel. Emergency and ongoing health care. Internet. Cellular service. Potable water. Oh and did I mention bugs. Ridiculous for 2 months potentially. Electricity is important. Solar and wind is fine for lights and radio. But when you need to run a motor you need lots of amps. When we bought our 4 season cottage, that we’d eventually retire to, I was reminded of these issues. Was good advice. Good luck.

Lots to consider. Unless you’re a hermit and love bugs you need to think this thing through. There was a great thread this winter about this. I’ll try to find it.

Was catching tons of incidental bass accidentally for 2 wks after walleye opener. Including a PB smallie. Was thinking then they were spawning and on nests. Have caught very few lately. Hopefully they’re done now.

Good week to buy men’s clothes and tools. Wondering about sporting goods and tackle. Anybody hear of sales this week?

then our fisheries would turn into the depleted mess that is united states bass fishing.
Our fishing is so damn good for a reason, im a fan of keeping it this way as painful as it is. Let the fish on the beds do their thing in peace.
Yes a few A holes are always going to be a mess, but the last thing the kawarthas needs is a bunch of idiots hammering bed fish for a month straight. If everyone actually practiced proper catch and release then id consider it...but sadly thats about 10% of people that fish.
Tight regs, and even harsher enforcement. Lets keep our bass fisheries the way they are...the best in the world.
Well said. Agree

Chewed out an Ohio boat this morning casting top water baits at my shore/dock. That’s twice in 2 days ?. 2 boats.
Yesterday a tournament guy in a Ranger scouted the shallow shoreline. No rods. I guess looking for nests for opening. That’s more like it.

In the 60s an outbreak of foot and mouth disease occurred in Saskatchewan. Thousands of pigs and cattle had to be destroyed to eradicate it. Traced the source back to a pig farm worker who smuggled back some smoked sausage from Eastern Europe. . Had some for lunch in the barn and afterwards thru some scraps over his shoulder into the pig pen.
That mistake cost many millions.

The magnetic compass is required:
A magnetic compass is not required if the boat is 8 m (26’3”) or less and you
operate it within sight of navigation marks. So if you are out on Lake Ontario and can't see the navigation markers, you need the compass even if you are not 8 m or more. I am going to put one in my boat kit............
Doug
Was out on Lake O and pea soup fog rolled in. Without GPS would have had no clue how to get back. No sun, wind or waves to get oriented. Compass is a good idea in case GPs fails for sure.

Looks like magnetic compass for boats over 26 ft.
Radar deflector?

Just checked.
Other than this weekend, colder again for following 2 wks.
I guess my Speedo stays in the drawer ?

Mosquitoes bad this year. Likely to do with all the moisture.
The reviews are mostly positive on the Thermacell units. Butane heats a pad that gives off a repellant. Not so good in the wind unless you put up wind of where you are.
What’s the scoop?

Sucks that you had to pay. Through social media, word of these types of fines gets around like wildfire. Like a flashlight with a dead battery not working. Hopefully lives are saved. A stern warning would have done. Too bad you didn’t have your bikini on. ?

Really interested in the new Argo 1000. They have a factory in drumbo I believe. Looks nice and built in Ontario.
Personally I never buy a complex machine when it’s new or reworked. Typically always problems and growing pains until they get the bugs out.
Just ask Boeing ?

Before I bought my Honda I asked a guy at the Kawartha/Haliburton ATV Club what he recommended. He said it was common to see Japanese bikes towing North America bikes out of the trails. But then he said his next bike was going to be a Can-Am 2 up. Mainly because the Japs don’t make 2 Ups.
