Lew, In the last 16 years always worked the holidays, not much of a choice in this proffesion Working the night shift for the next 5, 7:30 pm to 07:30 a.m. My girls are with their mom this year, but I will spend some time with them on Christmas day in the afternoon. Christmas Dinner is going to be here at the ambulance garage with my partner and the O.P.P guys that are working the grave yard shift as well. Hope everything will stay quiet ! Off New Years and spending that with my girls and friends, going out to the camp for a little down time, and enjoying life!

Mike The Pike If you need a place to ice fish come to Hearst . 8 inches of ice right now with a little snow. Calling for cold weather with no snow in sight. Been out all last week ! All different species, tons of stocked lakes, close to town.Come see the great white north, maybe get all the advid hard water guys to come for a swill !!!!!!

Fishing Missinabi River by Glass falls a known portage area for canoest. Was fishing a deep hole for walleyes beside falls when I pulled in a backsack full of camping gear.Small burner, water purifier, Knife, axe, compass, raingear, fishing tackle, first aid kit, and a gps. No I.D , checked with local guide in area to see if anybody had flipped there recently. Told me it was probally from two years ago when some people from Germany tried to run the falls. Still have all the gear except the gps which was finished.

Love the hardwater !! Do most of my trout fishing during the winter , nothing like pulling trout through the ice. If I didn't ice fish the winter would be to long, and I would go crazy !!!!!! Try it once with the right gear and I'm sure you'll get hooked !! ( Get it, hooked !! I tried )

Carry a baseball bat in your vehicule !!!! If you know what I mean !!!!

We have ice, a group of us were out splake fishing yesterday through the ice. It's pretty wild though, the ice is 7and3/4 thick but since we have had no snow the ice is solid and clear.Which means when walking out on the lake we could see everything on the bottom, logs, sand bars, shelfs, garbage. It was great for finding the spots we wanted to fish, but a little freaky looking down and seeing all this stuff was making me feel a little nauseated. The splake were biting , but a little slow probally because of the clear ice. It was still great getting out !!!

Gerritt, Just a little advice, go to court ! My friends all wear blue, and any time they have to go to court for a speeding ticket they will encourage you to talk to the crown to have it lowered so they dont have to go through the lengthy procedure of testifying . The crown will usually drop the points and fine, in agreement with the officier if the officier actully shows to the court day ! Hope this helps!! Medic

Charlied, Hearst is six hours north west of Northbay, most northern point of highway # 11 , or six hours north east of Thunderbay, six hours north from Sudbury. Basically in the middle of Gods country. Irishfield, I know Aurele well, a group of us get togethor for a friendly game of poker when its possible! Aurele is always invited, easy money for the rest of us !! Small world !!!

Well it finally starts, First ice walleyes . The great white north has finally froze !! We have no snow but we do have 4 to 6 inches of ice. Heading to one of my favourite lakes tommorow, looking for eyes through the ice! Seems very funny running in there with the 4 wheeler instead of the snowmobile. It was a big decision, lakers or walleyes, the eyes one. Will do Lakers on the weekend. Hopefully will get some good pics to share! I will think of you all. Have a great day, I will !!!

Moose Hunting , Trout Fishing , on the ice close to shore Spending any time I can with my two daughters, Fixing hunting camp, and enjoying the odd soda pop !!! Pray for snow !!
