archie_james_c replied to archie_james_c's topic in General Discussion
DONT ENCOURAGE ME GAVIN!!!! Orest almost had me talked into a Legend Elite for 220$ regular 299!!! Its a tough choice, I'll probaby have to bring my rod in and rig it up and see which one balances better, has more features, is smoother, ect. -
Help moi pick up a reel (walleye rod)
archie_james_c replied to archie_james_c's topic in General Discussion
I was thinking the same thing, the rod balances nice with out a reel and is light...I want something that will compliment that. But I dont want to order one and it feels like theres a tablespoon of sand inside it . -
Hey guys I just picked up a 6' 9" St.Croix Mojo Bass Medium Light Extra Fast for jigging/rigging Wally's. I'm looking for a nice smooth and light reel to compliment the rod. I was looking hard at the Daiwa Tierra and Shimano Symetre. Any other suggestions out there? Lets keep the price under 150 please .

I used GULP 3" Black Shad Minnows in the package (not the bucket) last night. I switched to them when i realized we got ripped off in our live bait purchase (they were the smallest "medium dace" I've ever seen. So I ran a 3" clack shad on the end of my Walleye spinners. caught 3 on that compared to 4 on live bait....tuff call. I think the stuff works. I'll continue testing it out.

I hope someday that I will be a Mega-Canadian such as yourself..

Garry I was looking at this same rod for walleye jigging, spin/worm harness rigging and such. If you have used it for such how does it fare out?

Rock Lake Walleye (Echo Bay Area)
archie_james_c replied to archie_james_c's topic in General Discussion
My buddy was at Caribou last week, they got 3 walleye and 2 pike drifting with worm harnesses. Me and him are gonna go and try Gordon lake and see what we can do . Yah if it weren't for my old man badgering me to slow down, we probably would have never got them . Aaah I love being young and ignorant. Also Limey thank you very much for the float jig setup, I meant to pm you back last night but forgot. -
Rock Lake Walleye (Echo Bay Area)

So my buddy wasnt lying when he said that!! Here I thought I was being played like a fiddle . Have you fished Gordon or Caribou at all? -
Hey guys I dragged my old man out for an afternoon of fishing today since he was on holidays and had nothing better to do. He kept saying "Ah theres no pickerel in Rock Lake. You and your chum went once and got nothing but Pike and Bass." Well this time I brought the depth finder and some common sense . We zig-zagged over top of a 7-15 foot shoal and nailed 5 Wallys in about 2-2 1/2 hours. We were dragging worm harnesses (pickerel rigs, spin rigs, ect) with worms and minnows, right off of the bottom. The colours were Fire Tiger/perch. I geuss the problem the first time was I was trolling waaaaaay too fast. I forgot how lazy these buggers are! I didn't get any pictures in the boat as I forgot my camera at home, but I got a cutting block picture of the 4 out of 5 we kept. There is a #10 Clown XRap beside them for size comparision.

I'm usually not this dumb...but I have no idea what I'm being ripped on about here. If it was the comment about me beating the dog next time around, that was a joke...they're very powerful animals . -

If I'd have been attacked now, then yes the DOG would be needing stitches not me . But since I was a wee lad I got owned by the hound. -

This is what I was thinking. i was attacked by a dog when I was a kid and had to have 118 stitches to patch her up. You can hardly notice them now...but I wouldn't care if you could . Also 12 or 13 on the forehead from a...beer related incident . -
YES YES YES!!!! Somebody else had problems with this crap too!!!! I bought 6 lb and kept it on my spare spool for finicky fish and had (still have) Ugly Braid 10lb on my main spool. The Vanish was so brittle I couldn't even tie a knot with out it breaking! I used every knot I could think of (and even youtubed some ) and still couldn't keep it from breaking at the knot. I emailed Berkley with my disgust and they wanted me to ship the spool to them so they can test it for defects and IF they figured it was defective they'd send me a new spool . I told them flat out to eat it and that I'd be using another brand of line from now on..

Lies all lies!!! I seen him buy those fish from the store and snap some pictures . -
Theres some pretty exotic replies in here! I'm a simple man, shake up the bigger guys deboned in FishCrisp or smaller guys I just cut the slabs off each side, half them and shake them up. Pancake batter also makes a really tasty breading!

The feelgood thread of the summer. This should give the C&R Nazi's a wetness in they're drawers...

If you trot down there in a horse and buggy, and fish with your homemade fishin pole and go back to eat them in your handbuilt house over your wood stove...then yes, I would 100% look the other way.

They were nice guys that packed in what they packed out. There were three guys and what they did was none of my business . I don't think they kept anything over the slot sizes but then again I wasn't looking...like I said none of my business. PM me whenever you get the time, we'll try and get an overnighter or two going .
