  1. Nice catche kickin frog... You and Bro really jacked up some nice eyes.... Looks like a niceweekend of fun fishin... Thanx for the report and especially the pics... We are pic hoes in here...LOL Will
  2. Nice report...This will definitely inspire.... Thank you Will
  3. I here ya...I have a 15'5 aluminum closed bow and the 25km winds ruined a good day on Lake Erie.. Oh well, will keep trying. Willy A Bad Day of Fishin' still beats a Good Day at Work...
  4. Might see you out there tomorrow. I heard the walleye are at the dam...We usually pull up as close as we can and then drop anchor and jig away.... Get there earlyh as I am sure the word is out now and it will be very busy. If you want to head out the Grand to the mouth there should be some good action in the mouth and into the main lake. Usually just east of the mouth in about 25 FOW the perch like to feed.... If you have a fair sized boat over 15' you could always try along shore westbound from the Grand in about 28 FOW right out to Tecumseh Reef. There should be some Perch feeding and you may even hook some walleye.... Topo Map of North shoreline from the Eastern Basin to Long Point I apologize if this live is a rule breaker. If so, I will gladly remove it.... This will give you an idea on the waters around where you will be and their contours.. Good Luck and I am coming from Point Abino...May see you there. Will
  5. The 530x12's should be perfect. Tires depend on ur weight. The 530's will haul more weight obviously. If ur haulin a 16' or less, u will have more than enough support. I believe the 530 12's are rated for 840lb per tire with a "B" load rating... The ST 145 R12 tires are rated for 1220lb per tire with a "D" load rating So it all depends on ur cargo/trailer on what will work best for you. and yes, bearing maintenance is MOST important...
  6. Thanks a lot, mates.... Hey U.Buck sorry to hear you haven't been able to get her out in such a long time. I hope all is OK? I am looking forward to trying some sand bar drifting before it is too late. And I also want to see how the Walleye bite is in the Eastern Basin, if it has started up yet. I hear rumors of it blending in with the perch bite... Keep em' tight folks... Will
  7. Thanx guys...Yes I was and still am happy about it all. she tasted pretty good also.... Yes the lake was the calmest I have ever fished on her. I have had some extreme calm conditions but mainly mid summer... It was so calm the swallows were skimmin around catchin bugs....It was a stellar day and I am sure one to remember for a very long time... Gonna try my luck for wally this weekend on erie if conditions are good... Will definitely report back on that venture... tight lines y'all Will
  8. No worries as I don't mind helping if I can...They are elusive and can be stubborn just like other predators... I have only been lucky there once a long time ago. I like river mouths, pools at bottom of rapids, or edge of weed beds along drop offs for jigging... They like chasing the jig up the ledge into the weeds...I shouldn't have chimed in as I am not familar with Quinte waters. I have a detailed map of the whole of 'quinte with HOT SPOTS if you would like me to send you segments of it. I am always willing to share and I always hope for success as I don't get up that way at all, but now that I have a boat again and some time, I am looking forward to trying my luck... I mean no harm, just out to have fun... tight lines... Will
  9. WTG guys....Nice eye candy...I am salivating over those huge eyes...And the bronzers are quite awesome treats also.. Hats off boys and thanx for the Fish Porn... Will
  10. Welcome to OFC, cadet. I am not up on Quinte, but some good advice is to get a fishing map of the area. Then study the map and do some Quinte walleye searching. There are plenty of topics about this that will educate you on the waters and their habitat... Get to know the species you are going after. The search feature can steer you in the right direction... Good Luck and keep those lines tight!!! Will
  11. A couple weeks ago I purchased a sonar unit from Kijjiji and drove up to Brantford to pick it up. There I met a nice skipper who is strictly a troller. so we traded fish stories. Me on my Nippising and Erie adventures and he on his Ontario and Quinte excursions. He showed me his rig and is he set up...Had this shallow water under 10lb capt. salivating over his equip. Any way, he politely asks if I am interested in going out for some fresh water sharks...Well, as you can imagine my eyes lit up and my mouth dropped and I eagerly accepted. So I purchased the fishfinder and went home daydreaming the whole way.. So Thursday I check my email and there he is asking me if I was in for a sail on Sat. morning...Excitedly I accept and we meet at Oakville launch at 5:00 am this morning... We launched and started heading SW toward the west shore. At about 100 FOW he asks me to take the wheel while he sets us up...The tension builds as we start markin' hooks and lots of them at around 130'FOW. They were ranging from 40' to right on the bottom....As I held course and we reached about 145 FOW I glanced back and noticed at the same time as Scooter did that the starboard side dipsy diver was dancin hard....Well, as you can imagine we both yelled " FISH ON " and he was on the tailin rod like lightning. by the time I was off my seat he was handing me the rod...She put up a nice fight and was a bit of a head shaker as I cautiously persuaded her in. The stories of many being lost was ringin through my head as the line was getting closer to the boat. As the diver rose out of the water, I stepped back and smoothly guided my FIRST EVER SALMON (Coho) into the waiting net..... Wheew!!!! What a rush... I was like a kid who just got a new bike....I was texting my wife the good news and she said she could tell just from my texting I was excited...She was under under 10 lb my usual...LOL But she was still my FIRST catch of the year so I feel blessed and as this is just the beginning, I am looking forward to this season... We were runnin all depths from 40' to 10' off the bottom and half plugs and half spoons. She fired on a chartruesse/black spotted spoon on a diver approx. 50' down.... As I am not up on the tackle used I apologize for the laim description....I am just a small timer who just got his feet wet in an awesome way... tight lines y'all Will
  12. A small fee to re-register or license will be tolarable. Not to get off topic, but a lot of peeps complained about the Outdoors Card being a money grab and now that it is mandatory, most comply. Although with the increasing coyote problem and the lack of authoratives handling the problem, it seems like our Game license fees are being squaundered.... I am not against the sticker implimention on a regulated basis, but if they want to move to inspecting of said vessels for water safety, then there will be HUGE complications...Although it is a good idea, I don't see many inspection staions opening up to handle the masses. But that is a LONG way off... So to the issue of free follow up registering of a vessel and even stickers on trailer plates, not a big issue, as long as they remember a trailer is not the vehicle that our motor vehicles are so hopefully they will take all that into consideration when calculating the sticker fee.... Heck I remember when a fishing license was $5, now it's $24.95 and the $6.00 fee for an Outdoors Card. So fee increases are a part of the Countries evolution, and can not be stopped or avoided.... At least they warn us of their intentions and introduce it gradually so the norm can adjust... I will still be proud to be a Canadian and always wake up every morning with a smile, as there are MILIIONS of fellow peeps that have it WAY worse then I can ever imagine. God Bless and Safe boating!!!! Will
  13. This is an awesome idea. Now we can search for a reference near our destination.... 14. Yes this will apply to towed vehicles where the total combined weght of trailer and load exceeds 4600kg. This will affect horse haulers with dual wheel pickups. Fifth wheel recreational haulers. Tandem and tri-axle haulers like personal watercraft and landscapers. Basically any heavy tandem or triaxle without air brakes will be affected. Also remember, if trailer has the RGW on ownership over 4600kg, then you are required. Single axles are the way to go...Or of course have or aquire appropriate license for vehicles used... Will
  15. Yes you can fish this area from June 1 - Sept. 30. Good Luck and I may see you out there this year... Will
  16. The "S" hooks are legal just not the BEST.... Most tandem light duty trailers are around 3500kg GVWR and usually not more than 4500kg as this will put you into a heavy duty class requiring a whole bunch of legislation. The trailers are usually around 300-500kg leaving 3000 - 4000kg for the boat. I just registered a home built trailer and all they asked for was est. weight of trailer and number of axles.... I guess I got lucky there. I am only towing a 16' aluminum so the trailer probably weights more than the boat.... Just remember that if your combined vehicle weight is over 4500kg in Ontario we are required to enter scales... Although recreational vehicles are still in the gray area as I see many fifth wheels rollin right on by and no cherries...So far.... If unsure it is best to write your Ministry and ask as many questions as you need to get the rules straight. If they ofer the rules in writing, print it and keep it close to the wheel....Don't trust anyone but the MTO as they are the all knowing of the Highway Traffic Act... So it may be best to slip the big boys and trailer the little skiffs... Will
  17. So, basically if the loaded trailer weighs more than 2800kg's, then you include that weight in the GVWR of the truck. meaning the truck's GVWR must exeed the total weight of both truck, trailer and load. If the loaded trailer weighs less than 2800kg's, then just the tongue weight of the loaded trailer is included in the towing vehicles GVWR. If the loaded trailer weighs more than 3000kg's then the trailer MUST be equipped with a braking system. Safety chains should have a spring loaded closing metal clasp. Not required on light duty trailers, but impresses the MTO and shows conscious concern of safety which keeps the hounds at bay. Annual Inspections are geared to Commercial Vehicles or where the towing or towed vehicle's GVWR exeeds 4500kg's, or any combination of vehicles exeed 4500kg. Ontario Annual Inspection Regulations Also, make sure ALL lights on both vehicles work if installed. The more respect you show for safety on the road the better your chances of hassle free towing... Good Luck and Happy Trailering.... Will
  18. Live bait does work well, but at the price of live bait now adays, it seemd wiser to invest in plastic. You get more for your money and minimul waste.. Nipper
  19. David, the law has always been there, they have just decided to enforce it. No more danglin wires, under sized trailers, over GVW combo's. Make sure you have ALL your safety chains anchored and hooked up properly. Your tires are of good shape. You have the proper hitch installed. Your boat is secure. Your trailer brakes are working. You have ALL the appropriate documents. Oh yeah, they will be watching us. The wrong do'ers are what has them up in arms.... The time has come to be aware and safety conscious.. Enjoy opening day!!! Nipper
  20. I like Adventure Maps. Good detail and Jack is friendly and quick with the shipping.. Nipper
  21. Shootin for slabs from boat on RICE.. Nipper
  22. Well Todd, no need to go that far for that combo of fish.. 3 1/2 hours north on Hwy. 11 is a nice big lake called Nipissing. There you will find, Pike, Walleye, Muskie, Bass, Crappie, Whitefish and Perch. It has nice lodging all along the south shore from Callander Bay to the French River... Nipissing is my favorite lake in Ontario. Lake erie my second as it is my home lake. But the Kawartha's has a multitude of lakes to catch the species you are looking for, and they are much closer... Good Luck and Enjoy!!! Nipper
  23. Hold fast, Yes you can set up your other sat where ever you like. As long as you don't connect the phoneline, they will not be the wiser and you will not be harrassed by them complaining you cannot do this. As long as they get their monthly service charge all is good. As far as aligning the dish, Terry's posted link works best. General rule is to make sure the mast that you slide the dish on is perfectly level on all sides and tight where there is no movement. Then you will want to find the estimated elevation of your area. Set elevation accordingly, then mount dish and snug nuts so panning is stable not sloppy. If working alone you can crank the audio so the beep, beep is heard clearly, then just pan dish until you hit a steady tone. Once you have steady tone, you will want to slowly adjust till you get the highest pitch possible. If you are satisfied with signal, lock and secure tightly. When I do installs, I try and keep the dish as low to the ground as possible. Makes for easier setup, alignment and cleaning in snowy weather. Also reduces the risk of injury.. There is no difference in a low mount unless you have trees to shoot over.. Good Luck and be careful if your on the roof.... Nipper
  24. Hey BassAsin, give granny our best and we pray she recovers fully. It is an unfortunate happening. It is also very nice to hear our teens are not afraid to jump in and assist their fellow people in distress. A very heart warming story. Nippers
