  1. I've tried the ilostmycard.com. Useless. The company i got the card through is (was) called boaterexam.com. They are the ones who claim there is no record of my card in their system. But transport Canada said they are the ones who issued it. And transport Canada also gave me the number that was assigned to my card. I guess I could re-do the test
  2. I won't be renting so I won't bother more than one more time. I have the number. If asked I'll show them that. Dontt know who actually checks...is it mnr?
  3. Doesn't surprise me. Solar, wind, electric cars. All garbage
  4. Good info guys thanks. Just came across a 24 with 60 AH How much difference does 10 AH make? My guess not much?
  5. Curious - can these batteries (doesn't matter what AH) be charged say if you're on a 3 or 4 day trip (back country) with a solar panel or some other charging system?
  6. Big price difference between 50 AH and 100 AH... is it justified? Can I get a day out on the water with 50 AH if using that 80# motor? I realize it'll depend on wind, current, how much spot lock I use, etc..
  7. Hey folks, I lost my boaters card along with my PAL and Outdoors card so all needing replacement.. so far I have had no issue with the Outdoor card replacement (easy and online), my PAL I haven't yet undertaken and will do so very soon, but the boater's card is another thing altogether.. you'd think it be easiest. I got mine in 2010. I called Transport Canada to find out with who I got it through and they retrieve that info for me. When I contacted them (Boater Exam), they could not find any record of it (using the number given to me by Transport Canada!). They told me to call TC back but they (TC) didn't have anything more to offer me.. I even tried retrieving it through Boater Exam website where they have a "lost card placement" tab.. to no avail. It also seems like they changed their name. Anyone else have difficulty trying to replace the card? Funny thing is, in all these years I've NEVER been asked to provide the card to anyone. Pretty useless piece of documentation..
  8. Is it an Amazon branded battery? And does group size matter?
  9. So I have someone setting up my system as it was more than I felt comfortable taking on. Due to the tight up front compartment space, my guy is suggesting a single 24 V battery . What is the ideal AH? Should it be lithium or can I get away with an AGM?
  10. Back bays on Tea or the river? was hoping to find some crappie on the Severn or GP
  11. So is the arrow Little Chute and the circle Big Chute? I see that there isn't a lock here but rather trolly-type ramp that carries boats down a steep embankment?
  12. What about upstream of Big Chute? I see a boat launch there that seems to put you into different waters. Can you nauvitgate without using locks to go downstream or upstream from this launch? I also see Tea Lake that looks like you can enter from under a bridge. Looks like such an interesting area to cruise around in and cast some lures and see what happens! I imagine that the boat traffic is heavy especially weekends and summer...
  13. Is little Lake worth a sniff? where's Little Chute in this system ?
  14. Was thinking that too! Shallower so maybe a spring fishery at the very least.
  15. Thank you! Assuming only the one launch there? What's the charge? I might fish Maclean too while I'm there. Heard pike and panfish are decent.
  16. Hey guys, I've fished the Sound side lots of times and know where to launch (Usually V Harbour) but have yet to fish G Pool.. where can I launch? Any free launches (my guess is no)? Thanks!
  17. have you thought about buying a smaller dedicated fishing boat?
  18. So save my money and use a 2x4!
  19. I picked up a transom saver from PA and realized it was too short.. saw other on Amazon for well over $100 then I remembered that my dad would always use a block of wood (recommended by the marine dealer he bought he boat from). In this video, the guy basically states that the transom saver on the market do nothing to protect your transom and he suggest either a block of wood or the service supports attached to your motor. What are y'all using? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=siITORxQN_A
  20. Thanks, Bassman, My boat is not a deep V. In fact I took it out briefly on the weekend and deployed the trolling motor (a 45") that came with the sale. There was a chop. Seemed fine. the prop was well submerged in the water. It's not a big boat, and as I said, not very deep. Maybe big swells changes that. But I don't go out when there's major chop to be honest. I generally fish small lakes (Cameron, Kashe, etc) We will see! So what are the main features then of the regular i-Pilot ? I know it can spot lock (which is what I wanted) and I believe it will navigate to a direction that you can lock in to (record a track?). Will it learn a route? I saw a video where they demonstrated this by using their main motor to set the route then the i-pilot learned it and was able to replicate. Price was right so I jumped on it. It's a lot better than the old unit I currently have which is a 50lbs older Minn (90s)
  21. I ended up buying a Terrova off Marketplace. Owner didn't have manuals. I'll download them and watch Youtube as I have no clue how to use it. It'a 45" 80lbs thrust. He bought a longer unit because he had bought a 18' boat. He said I needed to make sure that I had a newer model finder that can link the I-pilot features to be able to take advantage of the full spectrum of options on these Terrovas.. So that I can network it and be able to use Navionics maps. Honestly, it'll be a learning curve. I'm sure between YouTube and a downloaded manual, I'll figure it out. A friend is helping me get it all wired and ready for the season. Need another 12V battery to begin with. So I was thinking of installing a brand new Garmin Strike Vivid 4cv. I picked up up on sale last fall to put in my previous boat. Can these be linked up with the Terrovas? What else should I be considering before I get into this setup? Thanks!
  22. I don't know if I can fit two 27s
  23. I looked at my front storage where a 12V battery is housed currently. I actually have a 12V deep cycle from my previous boat. But it's a group 27 battery and its 2" longer (12" v 10"). It'll be a challenge to fit it in there since I need two 12V batteries to operate a 80lber. Guess I will have to get a smaller battery. The battery sold with the boat must be a 24. I am reading though, that 27s are the way to go for marine applications.. thoughts?
  24. I decided not to buy that one because I was thinking the same thing you posted. Just exploring now.. and yeah, make a lot more sense to get a new one that would cost about $800 or so more.. and the one of Marketplace actually sold. I think the one on sale for $2400 makes the most sense.. That terrova with the mini remote - reviews were meh.. some complained about the tiny remote and while another said: It was only when having the trolling motor installed in the Spring did I discover that the motor I bought did not include the heading sensor. The unit does spot lock without the sensor, but you cannot “jog “ left or right, front or back without the sensor. Also, the remote was the mini version and not the one with the lcd screen. So, not a deal at all. Cost me almost $400 to fully complete the expected experience. Buyer beware.
