  1. No I did not hit anything.
  2. Another dumb question- can the motor be run at all or is this an immediate fix?
  3. Thanks. Going to check for fishing line wrapped around the prop too.
  4. Looks like my gaskets on the lower unit are pooched, correct? I thought it was just bad screw seals so changed the two out but this is what I got when I came home from a trip a few days ago... i've never changed out gaskets... I keep things basic (lower unit oil, plugs, winterization) as my skill level is very limited! Is this an easy fix? Is it definitely the gaskets? Thanks!
  5. Just checked... they don't appear to carry the specific one you posted above. They have Dakota and Volthium in 24 V and Ecoflow plus the other two in 12V.
  6. wow! do they sell a 24? As I am confirgured, I can't get two 12 v where the trolling motor is mounted.. what's the store?
  7. Been going back and forth with the customer help rep. I tested the battery with a multimeter and it showed 1 when I tested it. They said that means the battery is salvageable. They claim that the BMS kicked in and the battery just needs to be "repaired" by using the "repair mode" on my battery charger. I don't know... I'll try it when i get back from our vacation as we are in the States for the next two weeks. I came across a video that actually says these batteries can be boosted/jump started. Has anyone heard of this before?
  8. What do you guys use for chargers (not the "on-board" chargers, but the external ones you plug in)? Thanks
  9. Thanks guys. I hope it's not fried. I already contacted DC House. Crossing my fingers that it's salvageable. I heard Walmart lithiums are ok if looking for a budget friendly battery.
  10. Has anyone heard of these things being repaired?
  11. Won't be trolling for them like that again.. I don't troll often.. When i have I have usually used the main motor. I am hoping this battery isn't pooched.. they aren't cheap. Are there places that can diagnose it? Like i said, I am going to call Radio World as they are really good with marine electronics and the like..
  12. I'm just wondering if this was caused by what happened on Saturday where I was operating at max speed. But I did that last year once and I didn't have an issue. also, what about the charger? Could a bad charger be part of the problem?
  13. DC House. Just looked it up. Prices have come down.
  14. Was out today again and the trolling motor battery died again after in 3 hours! Damn. I was using it normally. Just slowly cruising, stop locking a bit, etc. , Something is wrong obviously. I bought it last year and it cost me over $800. I tried to charge it at home but the charger just read "off"8 going to see it Radio World will look at it and test it.
  15. That's precisely what I calculated. Just wasn't sure thst I was doing the formula correctly
  16. So I disconnected everything (the TM and the Helix, which was running off a converter). It charged up and I tested the trolling motor after the charge and it's all good, thankfully. i am going to pickup a lithium so I can run the two finders off that battery alone. Should i get a 30 amp or 50 amp? I checked what they draw per hour and the Helix 7 is 0.8 and the 5 is 0.65 per hour.. I think the 30 is adequate for a full day of fishing (say up to 12 hours?
  17. An update on my battery situation: So was on Pigeon yesterday for a musky hunt... (fishing was slow! but we raised one fish) and after several hours of casting we decided to troll a bit... i used the Minnkota to troll (we trolled at a high speed) and after 45 min, it just died on us! Geez, when it rains it pours! It was fully charged before I left... and it can go a LONG time on a charge... usually after a full day most of the battery is still charged. Something was up. When I got home and tried to charge it, it wouldn't charge. I thought my battery was pooched.. so I disconnected the the trolling motor and fish finder connections and now the battery seems to be charging fine. If you'll recall from previous post, I have a Helix 5 connected to that battery via a converter because the battery is a 24 V and the 5 requires a 12V. battery. I know that I should NOT have the Helix running off that battery but I am going to change this by getting a 30 AMP lithium to run the two Helix's... I'm thinking that maybe something shorted..? maybe that converter failed? a fuse? Will explore today if i have the time! I just hope I didn't cause damage to the the battery, TM or the Helix.
  18. For what it's worth Everything I've read states older motors and lithiums dont mix well. With my luck I'll fry something. Going to go look at the Kirkland AGM if they have them at a Costco today.
  19. My motor is a 1990 Johnson. I don't think there's a lithium option for cranking so AGM it is. too bad cause they are so small and light.
  20. I think I confirmed it's my battery. I charged it up and now the unit is working. I'm he voltage was at 12.3 or something like that after charging in the status page. I removed the charger and played around the with unit and the voltage dropped to low 11s. So the battery is toast it appears. Here are the specs on the current battery- should I buy something g with more CA and CAA? I added a pic of my charger to show the status at fully charged:
  21. Seems like what I'm hearing is that I may want to consider a dedicated cranking battery (AGM) and power up my electronics on a lithium battery? this is on top of having a dedicated lithium up at the bow for the TM (which is what I have)
  22. On what setting do you guys charge your batteries when you come off the water?
  23. Lots to digest here! So the battery is in its 3rd season I believe. Not sure if brand is importantly but I got it at Princess Auto so it's not a "premium" battery. Nothing fancy. I suppose the health of the battery can be tested? It is a lead acid battery. I have NOT topped it up with distilled water. I thought I had bought a "maintenance-free" battery that didn't require too up but I may not know what I am talking about! I'll check when I get back home. I'll take a pic of it. so could this be a simple Mayer if a battery that needs replacing? If I did that might the unit fire back up and work? The perosn at hummingbird (they were good btw) said it could be the battery but I ignored thst to be honest. Just figure that a 2 year old battery is still perfectly good. I did drain it a couple of times were it was dead (accidentally by leaving on a light for a few days). I'll check on that battery and come back to this thread. thanks!
  24. Akrisoner, I responded to your PM before read your post here!
