How to size a bow-mount electric trolling motor
siwash replied to siwash's topic in General Discussion
Yeah matching the carpet would make it look good but if I put an entire piece across it'll be strong and stable and I can carpet it (or vinyl). The floor is vinyl. Thanks -

Terry do you think I should put a new platform right across that bow or just fill in the gap? If so, what would be the best approach? -

Thanks guys. $2000 out of my budget. I will look for a used one with 80lbs and I suppose I'll stick with minn kota since most of your feel it's the better brand. what other minn kotas out there are decent quality aside from the terrova? -

So what is the Terra Nova? I'll have tk do some research should I steer clear of the older used models? Say older than 5 i also have a budget to stick to. If that Terra Nova is expensive I will have to opt for a more budget friendly motor -

This is what is offered up on the Minnkota website: -
Hey folks, What lbs thrust and voltage is required to push a 16' aluminum bowrider? Motor is 75 hp outboard, beam is about 75".. fairly deep haul.. not sure I'd classify it as a deep V. Can provide a pic of the boat if required. And between Motor Guide and Minkota, which do you prefer and why? I am shopping for a used one.. Thanks!

the enviro-nazis that are the canadian government have stated that gasoline vehicles will not be sold in Canada by 2035. It won't happen but if it does, that will be a disaster.. anyone tracking the evolution of EVs should know that they suck. -

I am weary of ford's turbos. Any issues with those v6 or v4s? I've also considered a diesel. Not sure though as I've heard maintaining them is costlier. im leaning toward the Ram (hemi) or the gmc line. -

Defaults are rising. Lots of people renewing mortgages over the next year or two at MUCH higher rates. A truck is a luxury for most of us. You're gonna pay your mortgage first and walk away from a car lease and cancel your trip to Mexico! Look up the numbers. It's getting bad. A lot of people are holding a lot of debt. -

Holding off... I've read in a few sources and got info from a friend that with this economy and rates as high as they are, there are going to be a lot more trucks to choose from in a few months and well into next year - and better prices.. -
the ash borer, unfortunately, likes other trees/shrubs as well... I forget which ones, but you can look it up. IDK if it will ever be eradicated. It's a shame that this haas happened. I walked through a beautiful Oak Ridges Morraine trail on Sunday with my kids and there were many very large, old growth ash trees dead and standing.. but many are being cut down by the municipality. Pity.. we lost a great tree.

In the 80s salmon were stacked in the water column from top to bottom! The rigger lines would tremble with all the bait school hitting the wire as they were so thick. I started salmon fishing in 89 at the tail end of the heyday but it was still a lot better than now. Way less salmon and probably a line counter wouldnt hurt

I've heard great things about that motor. Supposed to be better on fuel. I don't own a large boat. Quite light actually. But I will be upgrading in the future. Still won't be over 3000lbs. the eco diesel is the other option. Apparently it's a motor that prefers long distances and stop and go driving will bring out its bad side -

Good question! Honesty, we probably don't need most of the things we own, do we? starting with our fishing gear! We need to replace one of our cars... it's 15 years old, rusting and repairs are in the thousands almost every year...it's a Subaru Outback and has served us well.. When I look at replacement, I can get a pickup in the upper 20sOr a 4 cylinder Subaru again (we already have 2) and gas mileage on our Ascent averages 11 L/100 - nothing special... my neighbour's getting 13 on his pickup.. I'll spend a few hundred more on gas to get way more towing capacity, utility when I haul things, camp, hunt.. Necessary? Nope.. nor is this fishing site! Is the Toyota really that much better? They are super expensive used.. I only buy used.. -

I also like the Rams best (looks and styling wise). I saw a few yesterday at the Barrie dealer off of Dunlop and online for upper 20s/low 30s - but I am looking at 2016 to 2018s. Can't afford the newer models. Just hoping those vintages are also good. I was told to steer clear of the diesel unless towing long distances. Short, local commuting is bad for those engines apparently. Thanks -
No one wants a short one! 😂
