  1. could the kill switch assembly be fried? I guess cable to the starter will help me with process of elimination.
  2. cleaned the connections as best I could last night.. still nothing.. going to now check if this is the solenoid and/or the starter... not sure if this thing has a fuse - I cannot find it so I will have to dig up a schematic of the motor to get. abetter understanding of where everything is located!
  3. Thanks for your help, guys... gonna start by cleaning the connections. I guess some sandpaper would do the trick?
  4. Absolutely no sound at all... no click - it's almost as if the battery is completely dead. It's not.. We checked with another battery.. charged it up, etc..
  5. Starter was not acting up before.. motor has run well all summer..Starter rope no longer exists. So the switches can just go on those things? If I had to do process of elimination, should I start with starter?
  6. So took it out on the weekend and ended up having to use the electric all day.. 25 HP Evinrude (electric start).. It was converted to electric start by previous owner. It'a an older motor (late 70s). Buddy of mine says I need a new starter as battery seems fine and is charged. It doesn't even turn over. Why else could it be? Thanks!
  7. Just came across a used Revo Toro baitcaster with 8' Veritas. Would that be a bit to light duty?
  8. Here's an interesting piece on the case for straight flouro... even though it's pretty dated (2017): https://www.wired2fish.com/opinions-philosophies/i-went-straight-fluoro-on-my-spinning-reels/
  9. I tried the improved surgeons knot on Sunday for the first time. Seemed to hold up well..
  10. I was thinking more for the spinning outfits.. I am happy with PP on my baitcaster. Would you use that Sunline FC (straight through) on a spinning setup fishing with a jig, tube, worm, live bait or drop shot?
  11. I was at Basspro and the guy helping me (who seemed very knowledgeable otherwsie) discouraged me from spooling a whole reel with flouro. What's your go-to flouro for a whole spool of it, Akrisoner?
  12. Banjo Minnow!!! "Trigger the genetic response!"
  13. Would you say this applies to most fish species? And would you figure that they could show up where the little guys are now?
  14. Interesting.. and water still quite warm after that last warm spell.. Might hit the same lake and same spots in a couple of weeks then.. thanks!
  15. Hey folks, Hit the Kawarthas today with a good friend. Great day weather-wise and the fish were pretty cooperative but mostly small sized! We caught a a few dozen bass, but most under 12". Several were in the 14" range, and couple over 16" and one largemouth close to 3lbs. All fish except for the LM were smallies... had a small muskie follow too! So for the first time I used a drop shot rig and boy does that thing work well!! Often first cast in every new spot was a hit. Used mostly Roboworms and some minnow-like plastic that looked pretty natural. I also used a spy bait (the cheaper ones from bass pro not those crazy expensive Japanese ones! They work ok too.. Interesting bait. The fish hit the spy usually when it was paused. As for the drops shot, I was using 1/4 weight (all I had) but next time I will get some different sizes like 1/8. We targeted shoals, drop offs, weed lines and got in the weeds too. One thing I noticed is that the weeds are starting to look ragged.. in some cases lots of algae growth on them. I guess this is normal at the end of the summer?
  16. I ended up getting the sunline heading out in a few hours. We hope to post a positive report! Hopefully Bass, pics and whatever else wants to bite!
  17. Are you spooling whole reels with it or just for leader use?
  18. Never tried the Sunline brand. Japanese correct? Any if you use straight flourocarbon? What applications would you use it for if so? What brand would you use for a full spool ?
  19. Hey folks, need to get me some fresh leader material.. running low! What's your fav brand for 6lbs to 10lbs applications? I am referring to leader material only. Thanks
  20. I'm hiding the visa bills from my wife. She has no idea how much I spent. It's basically all your faults! Stop it guys!!!
  21. The tatula arrived next day. Amazing service from Peterborough tackle. the rod is so light. Feels great in the hands. Cannot wait to use it. thanks
  22. So funny - as I sent the above message I got a call from Peterborough and they told me a guy literally walked in and bought the rod as I placed the order!! Maybe someone following this thread!! 😂 anyhow the guy convinced me to try the tatula for a few more bucks. Similar specs. I'm sure it's a good choice too
  23. Just ordered the Mojo from Peterborough Tackle. $207 with taxes and shipping thanks guys
  24. Would that St Croix Mojo "bass" rod serve me well as an all-around rod for multi species - pike, bass, walley, etc?
