  1. From there, where would you search for fish? We aren't targeting anything specific.. walleye, bass, etc... I hear there are pike there too now..
  2. I found a "cameron lake boat ramp" but when I searched it further, a recent review came up said there's a really strong current at this launch making it very challenging to put in or take out a boat. I've come across some other info about a launch at the end of West St. North but that's not on google maps.
  3. Hey gang, Angler's Atlas says there are 3 launches (all in the south east corner neat FF) - which to chose from the three? Hoping the launches put me on to some decent fishing (multi species) Thoughts?
  4. Online shopping isn t killing them - they just need to adapt. Maybe the traditional walk up store will be gone but the retailer will have to adapt.
  5. where do you buy your tackle? I'm looking for better sources. Online?
  6. Where do you get them?
  7. Tried a wacky this weekend on the French. To be honest I didn't give it enough time and the presentation wasn't perfect. I did catch a fish with it! A rock bass 🤣 What are your favourite senko style colours?
  8. Thanks guys. We will try Cedar Village. Should we head west or east from the launch? We don't have maps of the waters. cheers
  9. Hey folks, we are camping at Grundy Lake his weekend. I brought my boat up. I made the mistake of thinking that motor boats are allowed! Being very close to the French we figured we can hit up a section close to Grundy. Anyone know if a launch nearby that will put us on ti some decent fishing? Thanks very much!
  10. What do you guys think of these kits? Seems like a good deal...
  11. So are these knots best for similar diameter lines or can they work well with varying widths?
  12. May also experiment with the Alberto knot... And I will be trying out a drop shot rig too... Thanks!
  13. So are you keeping the leaders short because the double uni doesn't go through the top eyelet? Or can the leader length be longer?
  14. I'll give the uni a try then!! I like simplicity!
  15. One thing that stresses me out is if I have to re-tie these connection knots while in the water. Always a lot harder I find. Thanks
  16. Hey guys, back with some wacky questions! I am going to Grundy this weekend and I want to "deploy" the wacky rig technique.. two questions: 1. How long should your flouro leader be that connects to your main line? (I am using braided main - I thing 30lbs?) 2. What knot are you connecting the two line with? FG knot keeps coming up in searches. I've never used it before Thoughts? Thanks!
  17. I think rice will be next on my list after Cameron
  18. Third trip of the year and he's loving it.. He'll be 6 in August so stil using a bait cast and hasn't quite figured out the cast yet (admittedly I haven't let him try it yet). Anyhow, so far we've hit Dalrymple, Cooks and Balsam, which we fished yesterday. Always heard great things about Balsam but we got skunked there yesterday.. We fished in front of the park from 5 to 18 feet (the drop off) but not a single panfish caught, which surprised me. Next on the list is Cameron... I've also heard good things about it. Anyone want to share their favourite panfish lake, I'd love to hear from you! We are near the 400 and 9 so anything within 2 hours of that or so, would be fine. Those of you who followed my thread on my lower unit oil leak - motor has run well so far since that thread earlier in the spring. I haven't drained the oil yet but plan to do so this week. But the motor is running strong so I am hoping all is good!
  19. The only problem with crown land is you won't be guaranteed to get a good site or the camp sote
  20. Hey guys, what's the best grease to grease the prop shaft with? How about this? https://www.amazon.ca/Permatex-31832-Multi-Purpose-Synthetic-Grease/dp/B07YLLPN51/ref=cm_cr_arp_d_product_top?ie=UTF8&th=1 Thanks
  21. Excellent advice, DanD. Very detailed and thorough... Thank you!
  22. So here is the oil after sitting in a mason jar for a few days... the water separation is clear but it's hard to tel how much water there is compared to pure oil. The motor ran for maybe a total of 20 hours or so, not that long..
  23. I was intending to target lakers in year round Haliburton lakes... many of the lakes there are stocked and open all year!
  24. I mean to say bait wise smelt?
  25. What were they eating?
