Great info, again.... thanks.. I've use weights in the past with success that looked like a torpedo... eyelets on each end, so you tie you leader to one end, the other side, your main line. I forget what they are called but I bought them on a trip to the US. Harder to find here.. I'm sure Amazon sells every weight imaginable... I'd use 1, 1.5, 2 oz sizes with good results at a Halliburton Lake but that was over a decade ago and it's been a long time since I've done serious laker fishing! What is your favourite Flouro leader brand? I'm gonna try that ACEM bait.. holy cow, is it expensive... you like the natural colours, eh?
-
Great tips, Crowman! I've never really used body baits for lakers.. nor have I jigged for them.. And I'll have to check out the ACME lure. So is the ACME lure a jigging setup? SO with the crank baits, you're not adding any weight, correct?

Thanks! I am targeting smaller inland lakes, though.. Lake O is great, I know, but not a body of water I plan to fish. Plus, I don't have the biggest boat.. 16' tiller, with medium depth hull.

Hey folks, It's getting close to ice out time! I am planning to hit up a stocked lake for lakers once waters open up. It's a year round open lake. What depths/locations/strategies do you find successful? In past years, I've used flutter spoons like Williams or Blue Fox and either flatlined with a bit of weight or used lead core... but moved away from lead.. don't care for the heavy gear.. I did recently buy a clamp on downrigger so I might try that... maybe set it higher up in the column. What depths/locations work for you in late April/early May? Thanks and Happy Easter!!

Wow, didn't realize this would open up so much discussion- I've never used this rig or its variations. I am really looking forward to trying it out next year. thanks all, for the education!
-
Interesting. Thanks... What kind of oh ring? Are they specifically marketed for the senkos and similar baits? also, what's the strategy for presentation? Do you subtly jig it? makes me think that this bait might be good for ice fishing. Gonna try them next year for sure!

Was wondering the same thing... can you use any hook? Is there a specific size, type etc?
-
Wow... great pics, great fish! Thanks!!!

Interesting.. I guess they are fattening up before the cold.. Would you focus on deeper water? Shoals? Weeds? shallow? Suspended? Ig guess it could be dependent on the weather... Thanks
-
Didn't get out! Falling cleanup! leaves everywhere so will try to get out another day before it turns really cold I might hit Cameron. Never fished it and hear its great for musky.. and many other species.

Anyone use these with success? Are these just mainly a bass rig? Also, are you using o-rings of some type or just hooking it hook through the body? They really do seem like a n oddball rig! Kind of a wacky idea 🤪 Thanks
-
I fish a haliburton lake that is stocked. Opened 12 months alsi thinking of head lake in Hali - never tried it. Muskie bass and Wallys I think alternative would be Cameron on the kawarthas

Would you troll for lakers or hit a bass or muskie lake? It's gonna be upper teens... Haven't made up my mind.. tempted by both

Thanks... I'll give em a try! 🙂

Hey folks, I was about to out a couple of the screw type clamps on a my fuel lines when my neighbour happen to be strolling by and he advised me not to use them.. said they don't fully "squeeze" or clamp 360' HE mentioned ear clamps being the way to go. I don't have any of those and before I run out to buy them I'd like to get you opinions. Will using a standard screw type clamp lead to fuel leak or air leak issues down the road? Thanks

Pics from trip.. the site was furnished for us! Amazing. Does the ministry do this? I've seen sites with some basic prep tables, maybe a bench. This one had a toilet that was better than what I have a home! Anyone know what animal that is? Bear or canine?

Just cam back. All small mouth. One tiny pike. Biggest Amalie was about 2lbs. Lots of little guys. Good fun and beautiful place. Rock hazards were not too bad. But definitely need to watch it especially near the points as they extended out pretty shallow. nice area - semi remote wilderness not too far from home. I'll post pic of the biggest small mouth once my buddy shares it.
-
The one I got seems to be working well... Batteries seem good may just stick to what I got for now.
-
I've heard the bass fishing is decent.. and pike. Assuming walleye will be thought bite unless we are out at night. Are there a lot of rock hazards? thanks
-
Thanks... I guess I could raise the motor and use the trolling motor how's the fishing ?

Thanks!

Hey folks, We are heading up to this area this weekend. I want to know if the Magnetewan can be accessed from Harris Lake (Wallbridge/Parry Sound)? I am looking at the maps and the narrows to access the river seems very "narrow"! Not sire if a 16' boat can go through especially at this time of the year. We intend to camp along that stretch of river as there is crown camping there but I've never been up there. Otherwise we will have to find somewhere else, although Harris Lake may have crown camping as well, which is an option. Thanks

Any recommendations for a good charger (under $100 preferably)?
-
I'll check out the intelligent charger... So could you "over charge" with what I got? No risk of damage?
-
Just bought a G27 deep cycle and a dual purpose 24 Marine. Based on the charger I have (see attached) what should I put my charging settings at? thanks..
