  1. I've heard great things about that motor. Supposed to be better on fuel. I don't own a large boat. Quite light actually. But I will be upgrading in the future. Still won't be over 3000lbs. the eco diesel is the other option. Apparently it's a motor that prefers long distances and stop and go driving will bring out its bad side
  2. Good question! Honesty, we probably don't need most of the things we own, do we? starting with our fishing gear! We need to replace one of our cars... it's 15 years old, rusting and repairs are in the thousands almost every year...it's a Subaru Outback and has served us well.. When I look at replacement, I can get a pickup in the upper 20sOr a 4 cylinder Subaru again (we already have 2) and gas mileage on our Ascent averages 11 L/100 - nothing special... my neighbour's getting 13 on his pickup.. I'll spend a few hundred more on gas to get way more towing capacity, utility when I haul things, camp, hunt.. Necessary? Nope.. nor is this fishing site! Is the Toyota really that much better? They are super expensive used.. I only buy used..
  3. I also like the Rams best (looks and styling wise). I saw a few yesterday at the Barrie dealer off of Dunlop and online for upper 20s/low 30s - but I am looking at 2016 to 2018s. Can't afford the newer models. Just hoping those vintages are also good. I was told to steer clear of the diesel unless towing long distances. Short, local commuting is bad for those engines apparently. Thanks
  4. Hey guys, I am considering a Ram (Hemi), Chevy/GMC, or Ford - preference for V8s (which is why Ford is last on the list as most of them are V6 turbos) Vintage- 2015 to 2020. Looking for a reliable truck. I hear really good things about the Ram Hemi. I also like the look of the Rams. Thoughts?
  5. No one wants a short one! 😂
  6. Lol!!!
  7. Wow!
  8. So a 7'10" isnt that long for figure 8s?
  9. I've got a trolling rod but no line counter. I might bite on this rod. He's asking $150
  10. came across a 7'10" St Croix Bass X Heavy Power rod. I and wondering if a rod like this would be adequate for Kawartha and Halibirton Muskie since fish in these waters are smaller than Geo Bay, St. Larry, etc.. I mostly fish waters with smaller musky.. 7’10” St Croix Bass X Heavy Power
  11. Nice fish... I suppose because it isn't a monster fish it would be more likely to hit a smaller lure? Not sure how it works...
  12. What about the west side of 69 toward Georgian bay? Any lodges/cabins/locations worth checking?
  13. I contacted them yesterday... looks nice. Unfortunately they close Thanksgiving weekend.. We are learning that a lot of places close thanksgiving. Maskinonge resort is open though. oct15 will be their closing. Looks like we might end up there - it's literally right next to the provincial park. My buddy loves to hike and they have trails there so he'll be happy if we end up there. Lakair is just south of there. My feeling is that either the West Arm or the Upper French will be better fishing than Memesagamesing Lake. And it seems that several of you are saying as much. Bigger system, more variety, great scenery too. Maskinonge is a bit more expensive than some of the other places but the cottages are nice.
  14. All fixed. Starts up no prob. And yes, kill switch.
  15. Just checked maskinonge resort also. Nice cottages and reasonable price, too. Close to lakeair. Not sure if this spot would be much better than Memesagamesing?
  16. Any opinions on Memesagamesing Lake?
  17. multi species... but pickerel would be nice!
  18. We have a last minute opportunity to hit one of these areas in mid-Oct (13-16). Matthews Little Portage Camp has availability on Lake Memesagamesing (which I have never fished but heard some decent things about it). We have also considered the West-Arm/French River system... distance-wise about the same. Between the Loring area and the French system, which would you say has the better fishing? We camped at Grundy in late June and did pretty well considering we've never fished it.. and that was just off the highway. Any recommendations for cabin rentals along the French system? Thanks!
  19. No, I guess I don't... yes, there is a kill switch.
  20. Not sure but the previous owner did retrofit this motor...it was a manual start that he converted to an electric and could very well have added a kill?
  21. Yes, relief! $7 fix!
  22. Figured out the problem! toggle switch is fried!
  23. I assume you are referring to Pigeon Lake north vs south end? If so, I agree. The lower end is a swamp! I'm not into the thick, shallow weedy water. I fish the weeds but prefer weed edges, pockets etc, adjacent to deeper water. I have just had more luck.
