  1. Johny bass and I headed up to simcoe last week to target largies and smallies. As of last week our summer smallie spots were pretty much dry...fish must have moved to 20 to 30 FOW already (fall pattern). We checked out a couple smallie spots with no luck so decided to hit up some flippin jig largies action. We caught four or Five in an hour or so. No real hogs, Biggest was 4lbs. Only had about 20 min of daylight left and we wanted some smallies....went to a spot near by and got a double header...a 4lber and a 2.5lber...Nice way to finish an eveing fish We had to work for our fish But was a great day on the water. Thanks for reading and goodluck on the water.

  7. Hey guys havent posted that much this summer because ive been busy with work.....Thought I would put up a post of a few of the bass in the boat this summer. My gorgeous GF sabrina rented a cottage for us for my bday this summer at buckhorn. We had a blast. Fishing was tough but my GF managed to kick my butt. The first night we fished some lillys and instead of tanning snagmastersab decided to cast around....she smoked 3 largies in a row on a gambler shad...I was impressed and a little turned on.lol....catch of my life close to 3 lbs fish#2 fish#3 The next two days the fishing was tough with high winds....was working a shoreline with a flippin jig and saw something in the water from far...when i got gloser I saw it was a sunken boat...tossed my jig at it and got this nice 3lber the sunken boat got some other fish and one walleye but nothing with real size... the next few pics are from the bancroft area....went up for a weekend with my buds...got into some fish but lost two hogs...my bud managed to get the biggest fish...a largie just over 5lbs on a jig and pig...heres a few fish...cold front and rain made thing tough. tubes were the ticket decided to hit simcoe last night but had no one to go with so went solo....lol....fished for 3 hours....saw lots of fish but also saw about a million cray fish...so they were very well fed and hard to get a taker...managed to land one and lost one...but it was a good one just over 6lbs....caught it in 14fow....had to set up my camera phone cause i forgot my camera....was just under 22 inches...needless to say it made up for the slow bite. sorry for the crappy quality...thats my new PB smallie...beats my 6lb smallie from last year.....Plan on fishing like crazy this week...got to get out the as much as I can before school starts...thanks for reading and goodluck on the water.
  8. great report johny...you guys sound like you got some good numbers....I went out to simcoe solo last night for 3 hours...fishing was tough but got a 6lb + smallie in the boat....we got to go slay them again

  11. hey guys , was suppose to head out with my bud dave to simcoe for smallies after work tonight but the winds and ify weather made us cancel.......we were disapointed to say the least....but my buddy woodro called me up and told me to join him and my budy nick on a little lake (to stay out of the wind) for some largies....Just had a few hours but we got into them pretty good....we decided to do a little friendly tourny for 20 bucks with woodros boat vs my boat.....we caught most of our fish on plastics and flippin jigs......we met up with woodro and nick at the dock at the end of the night to weigh in ....they were razzin us hard that they had it won.....lol....but the scale would tell us different....we ended up having 12lb 4 ounces for our best five fish....they had 12lb 3 ounces for the there best five fish....hahahaha..we won by 1 ounce ...had to let them have it for that one....was a great night on the water and we all had a blast... thanks for reading and good luck on the water
  12. thanks guys for the kind words....hope it doesn rain all week so i can head out to simcoe

  15. hey guys, johny bass an I headed up to the muskoka sto do some slop fishing. The morning fishing was not to shabby. We caught a 4lber, a 3lber, a 2.5lber, a 2lber and alot of 1lbers and dinks. All fish were caught off soft plastics and flippin jigs on the edge or deep in heavy slop. Around 1pm the fishing completly shut down. It was hotter then hell out there. we kept fishing till 5pm with no luck and headed home. It was a great day on the water. We could of caught some more fish but I guess we should of got there a little earlier to catch the morning bite before the heat rolled in. thanks for reading and goodluck on the water. heres a few of the fish
  16. thanks alot guys...went out yesterday also...the fish were not as active ...still managed a few tho...... kennyman, its all about drop shots and tubes.... looks like a got to buy a new shirt
  17. Hit simoce tonight for a few hours after work with woodro....was a awesome night to be on the water. Low winds and the fish were biten pretty well....it didnt take us long to find the fish...Moved around to a couple different spots and two out of four held some nice fish. I ended up landing about 8 smallies in a few hours ,with about half of them being over 4 lbs..also lost a few more nice ones on jumps...no monsters but my biggest was 4.5lbs. Woodro had a tough night . He lost a nice one and landed one close to 2lbs..we were both using the smae bait and working it the same ...the only difference was I was using 8lb mono and he was using braid with floro lead.....dont get it!!!!! what do you guys think about floro vs braid when jigging for smallies??? Better feel with the braid with floro and have a better hook set so land more fish that bite....but have a tough time hooking big msallies (only in simcoe) on braid with floro....you think it makes the bait fall different??? lol ....anyways heres a few of the nicer ones It was a great night on the water and might be out again tomorrow night....lol Thanks for reading and goodluck on the water.
  18. awseom fish man...smallies are definatly on!!

  24. Hey guys, Johny Bass and I hit the kawarthas yesterday afternoon for a half day of fishing.......Johny was suppose to head out with another OFNer (sinker) but they cancelled there plans do to the weather man calling for rain. At noon the skys were still sunny here and I was buggin to fish...I called johny and said lets hit the lake, who cares about a little rain...He was down....weather man changed the forcast to less then 1mm....ya right!! As soon as we got to the launch it started to rain ....lol.....just our luck.....was pulling out of the launch and johny looks down into two FOW and sees a $5 bill....He reaches down ,soaking his sweater and pulls the bill from the lake.....Thought it was his lucky day forsure Hit the first section of the lake that was producing earlier this season but the wind and sideways rain made for crappy boat control to present our jigs properly.......We ripped it to a spot I had on another part of the lake that was windblocked......Started working the 11 foot weedline with our jigs and soon after the first fish was in the boat put up a good tussle for a 2.5lber threw out a marker and a couple min later another I hooked another one about 1lb....the fish were biting really light due to the cold front and rain....The whole time we were fishing Johny kept saying how he never does weel on coldfront rainy days and I agree ....really got to work for your fish in my opinion Kept peppering the weedline with jigs and I hit another 2lber a little while later At this point Johny was Questioning why he wasnt getting any, even tho they were really not "ON"....The only difference was my jig head was green and his was pink.....couple minutes later I hooked into a fiesty aprox 7lb musky...Faught it for a minute ...it took a few jumps and spit out my jig and bent the hook right open....after that fish I finally convinced johny to switch his Jig head and soon after he hooked a 1lber....atleast we had the skunk out of the boat on this rainy day. scary pic ehhhh!!!...lol we fished another half hour and I hooked one more small walter and we called it a day as we were both soaked to the bone......all in all we landed 5 walleye and a 5 dollar bill in 5 hours...it was tough. Now johny and I are both convinced that 90% of the time the fishing is very tough in the rain ....well atleast for us anyway...It was alot of fun none the less and hope there is some better weather this weekend. Thanks for reading and goodluck on the water
