Well for everyone that says you need to spend tons of money to have fun fishing I proved you wrong.
My new boat
Hull: 150$
New transom floor and carpet: 150$
Motor, waterpump thermostat : 300$
Rod holders 50$
Stainless hardware 100$
Total cost 750$
Clocked on GPS at 28 mph before it got squirlley with lots of throttle left. Need a prop change to get the bow up a little while on plane.
We hit kempenfelt on on sat. For lakers to no avail. But did a nice tour from line 2 oro into downtown barrie and back to test the boat.
Sunday I took my brother and sister out for perch and had a blast.
I know it's just a perch but what a tank . The pics don't seem to do it justice it had been in the cooler for 3 hours. I have never caught one this big and probably won't again.

Yep there deep. Lots of boats out there today . We didn't catch any but saw a few. Had a blast with my new to me boat. Now time to invest in some down riggers.

Any last min advice? I'm headed out in the am to give it a shot on simcoe. Going to run flatline spoons and 1/1.5 oz 3 way rigs. Is it too late in the season?

What a great read. I've never had any luck with them now I know why. Much thanks to all that contributed.

Some big fish in Vernon

Thanks for the help. I m needing to test my new motor but don't really like winds out of the east on simcoe and the weather network had me scared with their wind forecast for the next few days.

That picture puts the scale of the invasion into perspective.

Like the title says.

It's there...if its the one I'm thinking of its in town then you have to run up the narrows to the lake...decent gravel ramp when I was there years ago no dock that I can remember

Red flag deals saved me 10 bucks

Your going to want a heavy weight rod. Pick up a heavy ugly stick or something similar in a 2 pc. I lived in Wilmington nc. For a while you never know what your going to catch.

First fish of the day always goes back to swim another day.

Check for spark, compression and fuel. Let us know wich ones you don't have. I would also suggest a manual for the motors. Not sure if this is taboo or not but Iboats.com is a great resource

If you bring a few cheapo spools of line and some cheap reels to give away you can get local assistance real quick down there. I caught a few small tarpon and lots of cuda near the bridge to pilar beach

Thanks guys. You've given me some things to think about.
The Big Green Egg is not happening...not right now anyway. I just bought a new house and have a baby on the way. She'll never go for it, and I'd probably just lose it in the resulting divorce anyway.
I might still try the double barrel one. It's on sale at CTC for about $125 bucks. If I get a year or two out of it, I'll be fine with that. Plus, if it burns out/falls apart I can tell my wife, "You get what you pay for...I guess I'll have to spend more for something that lasts", and then look at Webers or maybe even the Egg.
Get it man, a nice easy smoke is pork ribs, find a butcher , and not a oh-la-la fancy one. One with cows and pigs hanging around in the back. Make friends with your new butcher I even.buy mine a Christmas gift. Hell of a lot cheaper than a grocery store...I know someone on here has been to dipietros in Cambridge, Anyways back to the ribs you can fit 3 racks on that smoker no problem find a recipie and light her up..they will take about six hours at 300. Be patient while learning your new craft it's part science part vodo magic . Always leave the chimney all the way open, And last but not least make shure you burn in your new smoker before you cook an food in it. I'm doing some brisket this weekend I will post up some pics for ya.
