I tend to agree it was because of the shift lever. My Honda is in the center but I have an older Johnson on my sailboat that has the shift on the starboard side and would be hard to operate from the port. Other than all of the reasons listed in the post I think which ever you can reach and comfortable with is fine. Personally I have a hard time with the throttle steering from the port.

My Grandfather bought a dog and it pissed on the floor he threw it out the kitchen window. The second and third time it did this he also threw it out the window after it pissed on the floor. On the fourth day the dog pissed on the floor and jumped out the window by itself. Now thats old time dog training.

Thanks Spiel ...That is a distinct possibility as I had the sensitivity set to high as I was trying to see my lure . Yes it does have the fancy little fish symbols and that is the closest thing I saw to a fish all day. It is a Humminbird x717 fish finder

I was about a mile out of Ashbridges bay today on lake Ontario. I seen on my fish finder hundreds of good size fish in 40 fow all between 20 and 30 feet deep. I tried gulp minnows and everything else like lures, jigs etc and never got a nibble. This parade kept up for a couple of hours . Would these be trout and what is the best method to catch them . The water was clear for several feet down. Any suggestions would be most welcome

I certainly feel bad for the parents and family's of these soldiers. The only thing is I need a little clarification on why we are there in the first place . Is it because a bunch of Afghans plan on coming 10,000 miles to attack Canada and Canadians in there beds. Maybe because of this boogy man Al Quaeda that was a small organization years ago and likely doesn't even exist anymore and if it does so what. Oh maybe its because we don't want to be over run with third world agitators other than the hundreds of thousands of Tamils etc. demonstrating on a daily basis in Toronto or the fact that 80% of the Toronto population is visible minority's. Maybe we should run over and occupy Poland ... One of thier people came here to vist his mother in Vancouver and our fearless mounties, four of them no less killed him with 5 jolts from a tazer because he allegedly threatened these guys armed with guns, pepper spray, batons and the Tazer . yep he picked up a stapler. I wonder since the Afgahni culture has been around for thousands of years and we have been here under 200 we should be forcing our way of living on them. Who wouldn't want to pay car payments, mortgages , get laid of after 20 plus years of service to a company. Those Afghans don't know what they are missing. Now before some brain boy comes on here and tells me better to fight them there than here, just take a minute to think what the chances of that are realistically. There is enough of them here already to take over the country. Like I said John up the page had mosty of the reason correct. Things like pay, advancement etc. but there is nothing patrotic about us occupying a country on the other side of the world where 90% of the population doesn't want us anyway. Thats why you have kids throwing rocks at the troops. By the way I am a Canadian/US citizen and I fought in Viet Nam another folley but I was young and thought they were going to come to North america if we didnt stop them there. Now we have thousands of North Vietnamese in this country and for the most part are fine contributors to society. To our American fishing brothers we love you coming here and I love the very good input to this forum. However he United States has slipped very badly over the last few years and I hope under President Obama it can get back to it's standing of being a friend to all countries in need. Unlike the fiasco in Iraq. That's my opinion

Thats what I like about OFC forum. A report like this is lots of fun to look at and share. Lets face it a fine report with all the pictures bring back happy memories of trips we all have taken. Not to mention the time and effort to post this interesting report for us to enjoy. Great Job -
I hear all that Ohio F. it was interesting to see your dad came from a family of 13. My Mother had 19 kids 12 boys and 7 girls... It took us older ones a while to figure out why they had all those kids. Mom was deaf as a post all her life and when her and dad went to bed at night dad would always say in his quiet voice "yah wanna go to sleep or what"... her being deaf and all would say loudly "WHAT' well you can take it from there

That is some good reading there OhioFisherman I copied the pictures to a file I keep on this stuff ... who knows what works for fishing. My background is horse racing and it's the same thing there don't discount it untill you try it in a race

Until I read these answers I thought I was a pretty good fisherman... However with all these excellent and knowledgeable suggestions ... I sure have a lot to learn. But .. like they say just getting out there is worth it and who knows I always try the wonderful tutorials that can be found on OFC. In any event I appreciate the tutorials and tips that I read on here and just can't believe the wealth of information that can be had here , just for the asking

Still sounds like a 'spam ' job to me as your 'friend' is obviously sitting looking over your shoulder as you use his computer
-
LOL.... did you bring him a "SPAM" sandwich to go with his coffee? Thats the most blatant self plug I've heard for a while and not really that clever of a way to do it

Just read Musky Man Pensaid will not give much relieve for this condition .It is a good topical pain reliever but not for your condition
-
the only way to cure that is a drug called Depo-medrol, its a steroid and has to be injected into the shoulder joints in three places front back and side . The pain will stop in seconds. It has to be done correctly by a doc or orthopedic guy and it is relatively painless. Some mild form of exercise on the joint is recommended. You can just perform your own physio and like some of the guys say stretching etc. The drug is available by prescription only and has to be injected in the right place and done in all three places. Some docs will only inject it into the back of the joint but you need all 3 spots. It takes about 5 mins for the procedure. I would say about 40 mg' s in a single vial would work

I love how musicians or musician wannabees always have an excuse as to why someone doesn't run out and buy there original music especially in Canada. The 'original" music usually is crap that is why the masses don't storm tyour door. Generally when you have to pay to make your own CD there is a message there . Joni Mitchel is old news and I can see why she doesnt compete with the Brittany Spears , Rhianna crowd. So please if you want to be a musician and famous go to American Idol and audition, that will seperate the men from the boys. -
Went into Le Baron today to buy absolutely nothing since the BP sale starts friday. I came across a bunch of High priced Binoculars for $49. The regular price was around $300. What a markup, They had about 10 pairs left in a wire basket near the checkouts

A little off topic but I think it's fair for a lot of us to say thanks to OFC for the work and money that goes into this most excellent forum. A lot of us were in shock when we couldn't get it for a couple of days. The thing I like about this place is a variety of help and topics besides our beloved sport of angling. We should and I do support anything that OFC is involved in and let people know we appreciate this. No I am not connected to OFC. I just enjoy the forum and camaraderie that exists here

Thanks for the insight, that's an amazing amount of knowledge you have all those facts and figures. Are you sure you didn't peek on the internet. How dense am I for insinuating USS controls the world market, however if USS can buy Stelco and get a few government handouts, then close the plant therefore eliminating competition in North America wouldn't that be a business strategy that they may have explored. The Finns don't control the world paper market but they eliminated 2200 jobs and a competitor buy buying the Bathurst NB mill. By the way thats the story they gave as well" we're closing temporarily" . So no you didn't burst my bubble. I just believe that as the need for product drops whether it is cars or steel or both, US companies will bring there business home and eliminate competition where ever they can. Oh by the way could you do me a favour and post the global steel market percentages for the 1950's . I want to see if there is any change

I hate to be the one to throw cold water on the optimism and hopefully I'm wrong.... My job is to buy Hydro Transformers (large mainly) for an offshore group. Some of these come from Hydro Generating Stations and some from companies that close down or are demolished . Last year I bought a good working transformer from a paper company in New Brunswick it weighed more than 100,000 pounds. This paper company was owned by a paper maker in Finland. The facility was beautifull inside and slated for demolision. The Plant had some of the most advanced equipment in the world and was put up for sale as 'SCRAP' in other words you could not use these machines to make paper. Not by shipping them to India, or China. A group of the 2200 employees could not mortgage their houses and buy the plant and continue what they were doing. The stipulation by the company was this plant was off the world market period. They had only bought the plant a few years before but the theory was they bought it to close it and take that competition out of the world paper market. This US Steel situation sounds unfortunately like the same song with different lyrics. I realize the demand for steel has dropped and likely will never go back to where it was in the stelco days. One reason being we don't need as many cars as they last considerably longer. Railways have shortened areas served by rail and don't need as much track etc. Canada has given up most of it's manufacturing jobs. We are not know for making appliances (steel) TV,s, computers, shoes, clothes. I think USS will leave the plant for a while then dismantle it and recover any assets that it can. It may seem like a big cost to just get rid of a facility but several billion dollars can soon be re-couped if you are controlling the market. I realize there are other factor sucj as offshore steel production but by buying Stelco and shutting it down makes it more lucrative for the giant USS Another point on this and the Hamilton Ontario economy is that there will be no more scrap steel shipped to this facility, putting thousands of others out of work. I welcome you comments

Nicely put about the wife and ex Harry ... I feel the pain from personal experience on a daily basis. I don't think anyone was putting you down but more in a manner that they are reading this stuff for information and a bit of entertainment and we all jump on something like this. I would venture to say that the same guys would offer you help and advice on any subject that came up on here or if they met you at a fishing spot they would be happy to lend you a piece of eqiupment or give some advice. Thats they way fisher people are.
