  1. My brother is going to Onaping Lake just north of Sudbury this spring and he asked me a question that I am not sure of. The camp owner told him that the lake borders district 18 and 19. The north part of the lake has an all year open season on smallmouth but the south half is closed until the 4th Saturday in June. He was wondering if he caught a smallmouth on the north side and kept it, then while returning to the camp which is on the closed side is stopped by a CO with the bass in his possession could he encounter some troubles.Although he caught it on the open side he is now on the closed side with it in his possession trying to prove to a CO that he caught it on the open side . Any opinions? And he asked if anybody has any info about the lake he would appreciate it. Thanks.
  2. Large buck tail spinners have worked well for me as well
  3. I have not shopped there before as I usually shop at Fishing World or Bills baits , nothing wrong with your opinion Gerrit if it reflects the actual service you recieved. I don't know if it is a government seizure or a bankruptcy, I just saw it listed in todays paper. I just mentioned it as unfortunate as another business closing down in this city.
  4. Unfortunately Pro Gear in Hamilton is closing shop, I just saw in the paper that they will be having a closing auction on March 27, starting at 6pm. It says it is auctioning of remaining hunting, fishing, archery stocks and store fixtures. So if anybody is interested it may be a chance at some good deals.
  5. I don't know if there is a Hitch Factory near you but the are real good.My old van and my newer blazer both came with hitches already installed, but I went to the Hitch Factory in Hamilton to get the wiring harness installed. I believe it cost 50 bucks plus the cost of the harness. Done quick, done neatly and done right. Class 3 will take care of most anything the average person will try to haul. I am surprised that the Dakota doesn't already have a hitch, most trucks already have the tow packges installed on them when new. I hope this helped a bit.
  6. They see a guy with a nice truck and loading up a nice boat at the ramp and they see that hey this guy has some CASH! I got them fooled! I am already maxed out paynig for the truck , the boat and fishing gear that she is lucky if I can afford to buy her a coffee. My wife found out the hard way, HA!
  7. Thanks Gary, I have already spoken to one of the outfitters up there and it looks like we will be booking the Shining Tree area. It was just nice to hear some first hand knowledge on the area before we take the 8 hour or so drive up there from the Hamilton area.
  8. Thanks guys , I just wasn't sure if Shining Tree Lake and West Shining Tree Lake were different bodies of water or different sections of the same lake. Thanks for clearing that up, I am taking up my own boat but have been told that with my 4x4 and trailer I should be able to access some of the back lakes without too much trouble. We plan to be there June 1,2nd, and 3rd leaving on the fourth and have heard that this is pretty good time for pike and walleye. I look forward to fishing another new area for me, I love exploring.
  9. I did say that my Legend came with the lifetime warranty on the hull but it is not transferrable to a new owner like the Lund warranty. If you think you may sell it down the road it may help your resale with the Lund, if you don't intend to sell than it may not make that big a difference to you. Always lots to think about when making a big purchase like a boat, but Mike really knows his Lunds, how long have you been a sales rep!
  10. I own a Legend , not as big as what you are looking at and no problem with leaks. Came with the lifetime hull warranty.Legend rivet hulls are made by Smokercraft and the welded hulls are made by Monark. Lund and Crestliner and most of the manufacturers are good boats. Once you load it up Legends are not much cheaper than anybody else but my boat suited my needs at the right price. There are brand loyalties with boats just like vehicles, Ford vs Chevy, Lund vs everybody else. Like they say Happy wife =Happy life so I hope you enjoy your Legend! Just kidding but whatever you buy I hope you enjoy it.
  11. Thanks Lew, hopefully Terry or anybody else who has been to the Shining Tree area will read the thread. I heard it is a beautiful area with good fishing. Just want to hear some more first hand knowledge.
  12. I have never caught any trophy fish out of Bellwood but I have always had good days on the water there. Remember it isn't always about the trophies.
  13. The Tragically Hip always have a camping and fishing feeling for me.
  14. Anybody ever fished Shining Tree Lake in early June. You have to love this province, me and my friends keep finding places that look like a great early june trip and just can't make up our minds. Looking for pike but walleye and bass are a bonus. Thanks.
  15. I agree solopaddler, the bears in the area are not a major concern to me,.
  16. Thanks for the bear tips guys, I have had my run ins over the years and have found the same thing, they are searching for food. No food and on they go ,but definately don't get between a mother and cubs. Any other info on the fishing in the area would be great . Thanks.
  17. Don't send him to prison!, I would sentence him to two weeks of basic training and let all the soldiers and drill sergeants know why he was there. NOW LETS SEE HOW TOUGH YOU ARE! And to the soldier I would like to say THANK YOU for protecting mine and my families freedom!
  18. Welome aboard! You will have to enter OFC rehab in no time.
  19. Well I thought that me and the guys had decided on Lake Mattagami in the Gogama area for an early June pike trip but one of the guys had spotted a place called Paquettes Camp in Chapleau that he believes might be worth trying. Anybody fished this area ? We are mainly searching for pike but some walleye and bass wouldn't hurt.If you have fished the Chapleau and Gogama areas some comparisons would be great . Any info is appreciated, Thanks.
  20. Why didn't he just drive it home?
  21. Everything that Steve just listed is excellent, Binbrook is pretty good if you have an electric to put on the boat, but the Bay has some good fishing as well. Bass, pike , Spring salmon near the bridge, and huge carp and sheephead. If you ever have a full day head to Cooks Bay, an hour and a half drive and incredible Pike and perch and bass fishing, totally worth the drive.
  22. Lenray if I was in your position I would probably look at obtaining some advertising in an RV/Campground directory. Or try to arrange some advertising through RV dealers in your state as those would be some of the most direct advertising to your market. I hope this helped and I hope there are some other ideas from others that can help you. There are some smart business people on this board that gave me some great advice about trying to set up my business. Good Luck!
  23. I would have to agree, mid michigan experiences a similar climate as we do. Most Canadians hit the Carolinas or Florida for winter months. I believe you would have a tough sell to the Canadian market.
  24. I bought a house next to a guy who had a boat in his driveway, when I moved in and he saw me back my boat in he came up and shook my hand and said " I like you already" . The neighbours on the other side keep a tent trailer in their driveway so my neighbours have never been an issue.
