  1. Im not expert, but from what I know, my first guess would be an Eastern Massasauga Rattlesnake, but the patter looks more like a Timber rattlesnake. Both, however, live in marshes and wetlands mostly. Its probably just a normal watersnake though, but in my opinion, you should get a professional to help you out with that one, in the event that you come across another one!
  2. HOLY FISH STICKS!!!! THAT GROUPER IS HUGE!!!!!!!
  3. Looks like a nice little pike hotspot! Great place for when your bored, and you don't want to travel to some far off lake to do some fishing. You guys should try and get your hands on a small paddle boat or something and fish farther out from that harbor! Who knows, there might be some larger pike wandering that open harbor area.
  4. Ok, so im not going to bother making a report.. unfortunately, the water conditions were quite dangerous, .. too many rapids I attempted many casts along the river, and at one point almost lost my rod due to the fast running water.. other than that, I had a fun time, no fish, but heck, it was much better than being in school, or work for that matter. I shall however, return as soon as the water calms down, and try my luck once again.
  5. I just hope I catch something, its my first official trout fishing trip. I have caught tiny trout before in a small creek up north, but no quite the species I was after. Just looking for any suggestions as to what bait to use, Ive noticed however, that roe is probably the best bait you can use, Ive been reading many articles on trout fishing for the past few weeks, so I think I'm ready, at least I hope. Thank you all for the bait suggestions, I greatly appreciate it, and I shall write up a report as soon as I come back, that is also, if I am successful.
  6. Just wondering what are some top choice lures/bait for trout and steelhead? Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated! Thanks in advance!
  7. The second pic of the fish looks like it has a lamprey wound or something on it.
  8. I am planing on going to the Credit River sometime soon, but I have never fished there before. I think I will be hitting the Culhan Trail footbridge, or at least in that general area. Is there any good fishing there? And if so, what are some top lure choices for trout? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance! Profisher
  9. I found that muskrat lure you mentioned about! http://cgi.ebay.com/Weber-Papa-Muskrat-Mus...%3A1%7C294%3A50 I've heard of these lures, but i've never actually seen one. I'm definitely going to have to get my hands on one of these lures. .. If not, ill just make one with my old rubber duckling... just add some spinner blades at the bottom, and I have a big treble hook that is currently not being used at the moment.
  10. I believe it is true, perhaps not so much for muskie fishing though. I have read articles of live dogs and cats being used (which I am STRONGLY AGAINST as well) as bait for shark fishing.
  11. $ 1.85 .. yea its definitely old, wow though, what a classic. My uncle has the same lure. Definitely an Original Floater. I wouldn't use it though, its too much of a classic to be used. Keep it a virgin Mike lol
  12. Man I have many stories to share, like the time I caught 2 bass on one lure, or the time I had jumped into the water just because I dropped my lucky fishing hat into the water! I think the most memorable moment was at my secret spot in my secret lake (and no I'm not telling anyone where it is!). Thats where I caught my PB smallmouth. It was a late Sunday afternoon, I had just arrived at my favorite secret spot with my family. After a while, I decided to go fishing in the evening. Not even 1 minute fishing, on my second cast, comes my PB smallmouth. I did'nt know how I caught it seeing as i was using a small, 6 foot medium light action rod and 5 lbs test. Once I pulled her out, I realized I had her caught with one hook in the mouth, and the other in gills, hence the reason I caught her alot quicker then usual, but she did put up a good 10 second fight. Overall, I had a beautiful 20 inch, 4 pound fish! May not be the best fish, but she was a true "Gods Country" lunker! ....the sad news is that the camera quality is terrible, and of course, my parents only took 1 shot of the fish Oh well... there will be plenty more fish to catch and beat my PB in the future!
  13. Well I planned on going on a few trails along HWY 60, I looked at the 08 / 09 regs, and it states that in zone 15 (Algonquin Park) perch, crappie, channel cats are opened al year. Then again, there may be some exceptions to certain rivers and lakes in the park. Oh well, guess I'll stick to wild life viewing! Hopefully I can get another picture / video footage of the parks moose! Last year, I watched, and videotaped sever deer, and two cow moose!
  14. I am going to Algonquin Park for a day trip tomorrow, I was wondering if anyone knew any small rivers that are possibly open for fishing? I plan on staying mainly on HWY 60, so I was wondering if there are any places to possibly catch perch / panfish, or channel cats in any rivers? Any information would be greatly appreciated! Thanks in advance!
  15. I thank you all for the info you have left me! I will create a Grundy Lake Fishing Report shortly after I return! Thanks once again!
  16. Thanks very much!, ill deff create a Grundy Lake Report as soon as i come back from that trip!.... and not to worry, im way ahead of you, i have all my pike gear ready to go.
  17. Just wondering if anyone would like to spare some info on Grundy Lake (fishing, and site seeing wise). I recently was informed that my family and I are going to Grundy Lake for a camping trip! Im really excited and I've been doing some research as to the "must-see's" and "must-do's" at the Park. So yea, if anyone feels up to sharing any info as to great fishing spots and stuff like that, that would be greatly appreciated! Thanks in advance!
  18. This is awesome! Congrats on the catch... I wouldn't be surprised if it is an official record! Congrats again!
  19. congrats to Skeet! ... now , how many days till Bassmaster Classic 2010?
  20. What channel is the Bass Master Classic going to be on! Thanks in advance!
  21. ok ok OK.... tough decision, but my top choices are either Kelly Jordon, KVD, or Mike Iaconelli.
  22. I saw that episode as well, so the guy from the Canadian Fly Fisher Magazine had his booth right next to Dave's booth! Oh yea btw.. to all that are interested and have facebook, I created a Facts of Fishing THE SHOW Fan Page, check it out n become a fan!!!!
  23. Just came back from Dave's seminar at the International Center in Mississauga! It was a great seminar, and I enjoyed it very much. Anyone else come to it?
  24. I agree with the both of you, the best kind of fishing is the kind where you go off on your own, fish, vs fisherman, 1 on 1, in the wild, I dislike all this commercial fishing nowadays, where its like a communal thing where everyone comes out to fish in the same spot and catch the same fish and throw them back, its only ruining the fun, and the lives of the fish. Its great for the kids yes, to introduce them to fishing, however I don't think its the best way to introduce them to this activity. I have been to many ponds, lakes, and rivers where there are absolutely no more fish what so ever, and why?? well because they have been fished to the point where they just don't bite anymore, or to the point where they have been overfished, and eventually die off due to the constant pressure. The reason I want to start fishing the Credit is #1. because the CRAA has done soo much to the river to help restore it that I actually want to fish it basically to support it! but #2. because its one of few accessible spots to go fishing and actually catch true beautiful, healthy, wild fish! Nothing beats a nice catch and release! And hopefully thats the way todays fishermen / conservationists keep it! Im not saying we should throw every fish back, however my point is that fishing is not a passion that we should abuse, catch what you need, and what you don't need, leave to let them thrive, and to continue a legacy of fishing so that one day our children will be able to enjoy the beauty of this passion that we enjoy today! Restoring wild Atlantic's is a great idea, i mean if they could reintroduce wild turkey in Ontario, why not the fish. I think the main problem is that the ministry doesn't want to re-deal with this situation in the future where Atlantic's potentially become extinct. But reintroducing them and setting up laws against people catching them and keeping them is the best bet! However i believe that the best way to be raising wild Atlantic's is to actually raise them in the wild, instead of raising them in these fisheries! They should experience life from day 1, so that they grow up to be wild. Fish sanctuaries in the wild would help Atlantic's best in my opinion. p.s. ... srry for the 'essay', I expand on my ideas a bit much
  25. I am planning a fishing trip to the credit river in the near future, however I have never fished this river before. I was wondering if anyone who has fished this river, if they could give me any pointers / accessible spots to fish! If possible, that would be great! Thanks in advance!
