I could understand that if you were wading on the property they own but I cant image the same rules would apply if you were on a canoe or other paddle boat? Personally I don't think ice fishing applies to trespassing if they own the lake bottom (because your technically not touching the bottom of the lake) but realistically I wouldn't bother positioning myself in front of someones property unless I asked them personally for permission to fish the area closest to the property. Mind you, the best spots when ice fishing are 30 to 40 feet out. I highly doubt anyone owns that much lake bottom 40 feet out from the shore line BUT if you don't feel 100% comfortable fishing that area it doesn't hurt to ask the property owner. Generally most people won't have a problem with fishing close to the property, like I said in an earlier post, no one on the lake owns the lake itself so I don't see any problem. As for invasion of privacy the only thing I can recommend is informing the property owner that you wish to fish the area near the property and if they have a problem just to let you know to avoid any illegal matter.

My uncle owns a property just off of the lake and I have been fishing the lake now for a few years. Tons of people fish it (mainly in the winter) because you are able to go out farther into the lake and search for fish. Fishing is better in the summertime if you have a boat of course, but ive caught plenty off the public dock! As for people who live right on the lake, I can't imagine any one with the nads to think he or she owns a piece of the lake. Everyone who wishes to fish the lake has the same equal rights as those who live on it! I can't tell you what to use when you fish the lake, the only thing I can recommend is going! I will however agree with those who want to preserve the beauty of the lake and all the fish that swim in it by catching and releasing the fish there. It may be a fishing hotspot for southern Ontario anglers, but it is also a small lake with a steady growing population of fish.

Secret?!?!?! A good angler never keeps secrets! Umm, I was fishing shallow weedy water with some weedless topwaters. Stop n' go retrieve always works! A good trick that will drive bass crazy is to retrieve any topwater your using and allow your bait to stop and rest on any lilly pads in the area. It teases the bass, and as soon as that bait comes off that lilly pad, get ready to hold on to your rod!!!

Look, overall the three of us caught our quota.My friend however decided to keep his two large ones, after I encouraged him to release the big ones he caught. I did however keep my 18" and a 15". To be perfectly honest with everyone, these are the first largemouth I have caught this year, and the first I have ever kept to eat in 10 years! I totally respect our conservation laws and do what ever I can to protect and preserve this native species! I wasn't originally going to keep the fish I caught, but I figured 'what the heck', I never keep any fish anyway, so no harm done by keeping conservation limit this time. Although, I strongly put into action the release of much larger fish! I hope that my children will one day fish the same species that I have caught in my youth years, and therefore always release every large fish I catch, and will always do so in the future!

Well, I have to say, this day was probably the best I had in 09'... so far. My friend asked me if I wanted to go fishing with him and his dad. Obviously I couldn't resist that offer. Soon after arrival, my friends dad, on his first cast caught the first 17" fish of the night. Shortly after his minute of glory, I get a strike! After several minutes of constant reeling through think weeds, I reel in my PB 18", 3 lbs Largemouth. Couple of hours go by and each of us lose a few fish, my friend gets the big strike! After 5 minutes of reeling in he pulls in his 5 lbs, 21 1/2" fish! It was a great night and probably the best I've ever had!

Sweet report Mike, too bad about the carp though, but we'll have to head up to Scugog one day and double our luck! Also, congrats on the crappie! We also have to go for bass soon, two more weeks! So get the gear out!

Ive already been practicing for bass at a small local pond near my house, classic catch and release will help me plan my out some new tactics for catching the big one when I venture up north! I CANT WAIT ANY LONGER!!!!!!!!!!!!! :w00t:

Every time I go to Lake Scugog, I always see old fishing line tangled up, someimtes I myself get caught in it I try my best to clean up any fishing line that others leave behind, as well as any garbage I find!

Yea man, for sure!, I talked to my dad about it, and he said we'll see closer to the end of the week! Ill keep you posted throughout the week though!

My dad and I decided to head up to the 'BOG' for some early morning Perchin'. Subsequent to our arrival, we unpacked and hit the water. The morning started off on a quite windy and cold note. Fortunately, the sun managed to break through the overcast sky, thus offering us perfect fishing conditions. I started off by using the classic bobber and worm set up. Only a few minutes into our trip, and I managed to land 3 bluegill and 1 pumpkinseed. Big deal. My dad wasn't having much luck, and decided to leave for a bit and walk around while I continued to fish. Shortly, I switched to my panfish rig and hooked into more panfish, but still NO PERCH!!!! A few hours have gone by, and my worm jar is almost done. Thankfully, someone was so gracious enough to leave behind a few minnows, which I ended up using... obviously. I hooked into a small 3" perch. Not bad for a few hours of fishing.... wrong. With the sun shining, I could see a whole school of perch swimming around my bait. I switched up my lure, and cast. After a few nibbles, it hit! Down goes my bobber, and of course, I'm caught off guard. I reeled in a nice 6 1/2" perch. My dad ran over and saw my catch and decided he'd give it another go. Yet another strike, I reel in a decet sized perch.... unfortunately though, my hook got tangled up with my dad's line, and the perch fell back in. Oh well, you win some, you lose some in the game of fishing. Finally I ended the day with a nice 7" perch. My dad may have been unlucky, but I was lucky enough to catch 13 different panfish, and 3 perch..... but who's counting? Yet another great day of fishing under my belt! 3 of the 13 different panfish I caught 3" Perch 6 1/2" Perch 7" Perch

Overall, I would say after 200 days worth of planning, it was a pretty successful trip! We definitely had more bites than fish, but it was a fun trip and can't wait for the next outing!

Boshkung Lake!!! There are some nice fish up there! My buddy's cottage is near that lake, and I've been fishing that general area for many years now. Decent fishing in Boshkung, also, 12 mile lake is another option, though I have yet to see a decent size fish come out from that lake! Good luck dude, can't wait to see the outcome!

Sweet pics!, Im assuming by the pics, that the fishing wasn't soo great. But like all trips to Algonquin, there always fun, rain or shine! I actually went myself with my family during March, still a nit of snow on the ground. No fish obviously, but we did see 5 ruffed grouse, 2 huge snowshoe hair, and about 16 deer. Id say thats a pretty good day. Now with the snow all gone, I'll have to plan another trip to Algonquin and try my luck. If not for fishing, I really want to get out and start painting some scenes and landscapes! Good luck next time you head out, and congrats with the kid! Suggestion... take the family out on a camping trip (it'll give ya' an excuse to get out fishing)
